• Within 10 miles of Rock Island there are over 25,000 students in 9 higher education institutions.
• This graph was taken from the US Census for Rock Island and demonstrates the differences in demographics. Colors represent different races. White alone is red, green is African American alone.
• This clearly shows the large portion of the population that is 75+, the senior living market.
• In the 2010 Census Rock Island had reported of the 39,000 residents 15.46% were over the age of 65 years. Over 6,000 people.
• This map identifies a number of senior resources located in Rock Island: Outpatient care, retirement management, meal delivery, Hospice, and Assisted living. There are, however no exclusive locations of Independent Senior Living (although Friendship Manor does have some 1.7 miles away). The closest is Palmer Hills located in Bettendorf, IA (according to seniorforliving.com).
• “According to the Census Bureau's "middle series" projections, the elderly population will more than double between now and the year 2050, to 80 million. By that year, as many as 1 in 5 Americans could be elderly. Most of this growth should occur between 2010 and 2030, when the "baby boom" generation enters their elderly years. During that period, the number of elderly will grow by an average of 2.8 percent annually. By comparison, annual growth will average 1.3 percent during the preceding 20 years and 0.7 percent during the following 20 years. (See graph below.)”

• This map identifies the availability of public transportation an essential component for both seniors and students. Both the Lime bus line and Green bus line run adjacent to the potential site.
• Continuing from the previous slide this map shows nearby bus stops within several blocks. Green buses run along 18th street, and Lime buses travel along 30th, 14th, and 12th within Augustana’s Campus.

2. Total travel time between potential site and Trinity Regional Health in Rock Island is 7 minutes over 1.9 miles. For the two locations in Moline are 4 minutes over 1.3 miles, and 10 minutes over 3.9 miles.
