There are a number of visas available for people to visitAustralia as a tourist.

Electronic Travel Authority (Subclass 601) An electronically stored authority for short-term visits to

Australia for tourism or business purposes of up to 3months.

eVisitors (Subclass 651)

An electronically stored authority for visits to Australia fortourism or business purposes for up to 3 months.

Visitor Visa (Subclass 600)

A temporary visa allowing a stay in Australia of up to 3 or 6

or 12 months.

The Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) (subclass 601)lets you enter Australia as many times as you want for

up to 12 months if you are:

- a tourist

- travelling for business purposes.

You can stay in Australia for up to three months oneach visit.

The ETA is an electronically stored authority for travelto Australia. You must be outside Australia when you

apply and when the ETA is granted.An ETA is linked electronically to passport. It can be

seen by staff at airlines, travel agencies and Australianborder agencies.

Your ETA lets you enter Australia for up to three

months at a time as a tourist or for business purposes. Business activities include:

- making general business or employment enquiries

- investigating, negotiating, signing or reviewing a

business contract- carrying out activities as part of an official

government-to-government visit

- participating in conferences, trade fairs or seminars, aslong as you are not being paid by the organizers foryour participation.

eVisitoris for people who want to visit Australia for:

tourism, such as holidays, recreation or seeing family

or friends business purposes, such as attending a conference,

negotiating or exploring business opportunities.

You must hold a passport from an eligible country to

apply for this visa.You must be outside Australia when you lodge your

application for an eVisitor. You do not need to visit animmigration office and you will not receive a stamp orlabel in your passport. However, you will be given a

confirmation for your records.An eVisitor is an electronically stored authority for

travel to Australia. eVisitor can be accessed by airlines,travel agents and Australian border agencies.

TheVisitor visa (subclass 600) is for people who wantto travel Australia as tourists, for business or to visit

family. It is a temporary visa.This visa has four streams:

Tourist stream: for people travelling to Australia for aholiday, recreation or to visit family and friends.

Business Visitor stream: for business peopletravelling to Australia for a short business visit. Thisincludes making a general business or employment

enquiry, negotiations or participating in a conference Sponsored Family stream: for people travelling to

The Working Holiday and Work and Holiday programsencourage cultural exchange and closer ties betweenarrangement countries by allowing young people to have anextended holiday supplemented by short-termemployment.

Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong,Republic of Ireland, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malta,Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Taiwan and UnitedKingdom.

Work and Holiday Visa (Subclass 462) Information for applicants from Argentina, Bangladesh,

Chile, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Thailand, Turkey, the USAand Uruguay, on holiday and work visas in Australia.

Retirement For retirees who are 55 years of age and over who want

to spend their retirement years in Australia.

Retirement Visa (Subclass 410)

Only available to people who currently hold this visa(and their partners), or to former Retirement visaholders (and their partners) who have not heldanother substantive visa since their last Retirementvisa was granted.

Investor Retirement Visa (Subclass 405)

A temporary visa for people aged 55 years or older whoare able to make a significant long term financialinvestment in Australia. This visa is not a pathway to apermanent visa.

Temporary Work (Skilled) visa (subclass 457)

A program for employers to sponsor approved skilledworkers to work in Australia on a temporary visa.Employers can nominate a number of positions fordifferent occupations under the same sponsorshipapplication.

Labor Agreements

Formal arrangements for an Australian industry group oremployer to recruit a specified number of skilled workerson a temporary or permanent basis over a number of years.

This visa allows you to:

work in Australia for up to four years

bring your family to work or study in Australia

travel in and out of Australia as often as you want.

This is a sponsored visa. Before you can apply for thevisa, your employer must:

become an approved sponsor

Registration and licensing If requested by your visa processing case officer, you must

provide evidence from the relevant Australian registrationor licensing authority that you hold, or will be able to meet,the registration or licensing requirements to work in yournominated occupation.

English language requirements International English Language Testing System (IELTS)

and the Occupational English Test (OET) If you are sponsored by a standard business sponsor, you

must show that you have English language proficiency thatis equivalent to:

an International English Language Testing System (IELTS)test score of at least 5 in each of the four test componentsof speaking, reading, writing and listening, or

a score of at least 'B' in each of the four components of anOccupational English Test (OET).

Health requirements The health examinations you need will depend on your

circumstances and where you have lived. The results ofyour health examinations are valid for 12 months.Health insurance You are responsible for all your health costs in Australia.

You will not be covered by Australia's national health

scheme (Medicare) while you hold this visa You must have adequate health insurance in Australia. You

should ensure that your insurance will provide at least thelevel of coverage required for the purpose of your stay. Yourhealth insurer could be in either Australia or your homecountry.

Character requirements You must be prepared to provide a police certificate from

each country you have lived in for 12 months or more.

Including family in your application

You can include the following people in your visa application:

your partner (married) your or your partnersdependent children

other dependent relatives.

The application must include documentary evidence oftheir relationship to you.

Your family members must also be able to show that theymeet Australia's health and character requirements.

They must be able to show they have the same levels ofhealth insurance as you.

Your sponsor must agree in writing to include your familymembers as secondary sponsored persons. They can do thisby including the details of your family members in thenomination application, or by providing this informationin a letter to be attached to your visa application.

Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) lets you live

and work in Australia temporarily after you havefinished your studies.

This visa has two streams:

Graduate Work stream for international students

who graduate with skills and qualifications that relateto an occupation on the Skilled Occupation List (SOL

Post-Study Work stream for international studentswho graduate with an eligible qualification. Thisstream is only available to students who applied forand were granted their first Student visa to Australia. Avisa in this stream can be granted for up to four years,depending on the qualification.

Sponsored TrainingTraining and Research Visa (Subclass 402)

Allows you to come to Australia on a temporary basis toundertake occupational training, conduct or observeresearch as a visiting academic or participate in aprofessional development program.

Professional Development Visa (Subclass 470)

Allows sponsored foreign nationals who are professionals,managers or government officials, to undertakeprofessional development training programs in Australiafor periods of up to 18 months.

Occupational Trainee Visa (Subclass 442)

Allows foreign nationals to undertake a supervised,workplace-based training program in Australia. Thetraining should provide additional skills in theiroccupation or field of expertise.

people intending to get married (fiancs) married (de jure) partners de facto partners (including those in a same sex relationship).Partner Visa: Offshore Temporary and Permanent

(Subclasses 309 and 100) For people from overseas to enter and stay in Australia with their

partner, who must be an Australian citizen, Australianpermanent resident. If two years after you apply the relationship

is ongoing, a permanent visa may be granted. Prospective Marriage Visa (Subclass 300) For people from overseas to enter Australia, marry their fianc,

who must be an Australian citizen, Australian permanentresident. Once married, holders of this visa can then apply to

remain permanently in Australia.

Parent Visa OptionsParent (Permanent) Visa (Subclass 103) A permanent visa for parents who have children living in

Australia.Contributory Parent (Migrant) Visa (Subclass 143) A permanent visa for parents with children living in

Australia. This visa costs more than the Parent visa but isgenerally processed faster.

Contributory Parent (Temporary) Visa (Subclass 173) This is a temporary visa valid for two years. If you hold this

visa you can then apply for the permanent ContributoryParent visa (subclass 143).

Contributory Parent (Migrant) Visa (from Subclass 173to Subclass 143) This visa is for holders of a temporary Contributory Parent

visa (subclass 173), who want to apply for a permanentContributory Parent visa (subclass 143).

Child VisaChild (Permanent) (Subclass 101) For children from overseas who are the child or stepchild of an

Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible NewZealand citizen.Orphan Relative (Permanent) (Subclass 117) For children from overseas whose parents are deceased, permanently

incapacitated, or whose whereabouts are unknown and who have aneligible sponsor.

Adoption (Permanent) (Subclass 102) For children from overseas who have been or about to be adopted by an

Australian citizen, the holder of an Australian permanent visa, or aneligible New Zealand citizen.Important: If the child was adopted before the parent became an

Australian citizen, the holder of an Australian permanent visa, or an
