AVAST OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

Right click on the Avast ball on the bottom right of the taskbar.

When the menu comes up select …. “Open avast! user interface”

The start-up screen will open.

Start Avast! …. When the main interface is loaded click “SCAN

COMPUTER” …. select “Boot-time Scan”

Click on the drop down and select “System drive”

Click on “Schedule Now”

Then click the “Restart computer”

This will restart your system and the boot-time scan will start.

As it scans it will show you the percentage completed and the files

it is scanning

When Avast finds an infected file it will give you a list of options to

select from

We suggest that you select #2 to “Delete All” so that when it finds

another virus it will automatically delete it.

When Avast is done scanning it will boot into your computer.

To see if there was any infected. Open Avast and select the

“SCAN COMPUTER” the drop down list select “Scan Logs”.

There it shows the results of all your scans.

******64 Bit systems cannot do a boot time scan*******

To do different types of regular scans just select “SCAN

COMPUTER” then you have 4 choices of scanning.

Click “START” for the one you want.

The computer will give you real time results and show you

a percentage of files completed. You can stop or pause at

anytime.
