    NGO. Applicants should be interested in improving their research, wring, and

    advocacy skills, and reaching broader audiences with their publicaons.

    Twelve to fieen applicants will be selected toparcipate in the Workshop. The fourth annualWorkshop will take place from August 27 -September 3 in Bogotá, Cali, and Colombia’s coffeeregion, combining intensive wring and academicworkshops with experienal learning. Workshopsessions will be taught by leading internaonal andColombian experts.

    The theme of Dejuscia's fourth annual GlobalAcon-Research Workshop in 2016 will beInequality and Human Rights in the Global South.Dejuscia invites applicaons from youngprofessionals from the Global South who areengaged in advocacy around inequality. This couldinclude issues related to economic, racial, gender,or other forms of inequality, broadly defined.

    ObjectivesDejuscia's Global Acon-Research Workshopseeks to ensure that the new generaon of GlobalSouth human rights advocates has a strong voice ininternaonal discussions. An important challengefor these young advocates is how to increase theirinfluence in internaonal human rights debates.High quality research coming from the Global Southon human rights issues is crically important.     Our methodology is three-pronged. We producerigorous legal and social science research and aim tocontribute to a beer understanding of systemicfailures and rights violaons. We leverage our expertknowledge to contribute to direct acon campaigns,

    ligaon or intervenons in public policy design andpublic opinion forums. We promote free access toknowledge for human rights through capacity-buildingand experience sharing in a variety of formats andwith a wide range of stakeholders—from youngadvocates to scholars and community acvists, from

     judges to policymakers, from transnaonal advocatesto domesc advocates in the Global South.

    The Center for Law, Jusce and Society(Dejuscia) is a Colombia-based NGO working onstrengthening the rule of law and promonghuman rights in Colombia and across the GlobalSouth. We are a think/do tank that produces

    rigorous research that can contribute to aconfor social change. We also carry out directadvocacy through campaigns, ligaon,educaon and capacity-building.

    Since 2005, we have been working on sixresearch and acon areas: an-discriminaon;economic, social and cultural rights; rule of law;environmental jusce; judicial systems; andtransional jusce.

This will be accomplishedthrough: 1) workshops and experienal acviesover a week-long period in Colombia and 2) sixmonths of Workshop mentorship of parcipants

    Translaon will be provided in English and Spanishthroughout the Workshop. Fluency in one of thesetwo languages is required. To apply to the DejusciaGlobal Acon-Research Workshop for Young HumanRights Advocates, please send the following: 1. A leer of nominaon from the applicant’s humanrights organizaon or related NGO.
