BUDAPEST DIALOG

Budapest Dialog is an interactive social urban development application, through which people can share their ideas about their own neighborhood.It is a map-based website where projects can be shared with each other and with the local government. Stakeholders can evaluate them and make or collect offers to their realization. City administration can also pin their own projects and interact with citizens and communities.Budapest Dialog is a contemporary answer to the difficulty of urban bureaucracy. It connects bottom-up initiatives to urban development and encourages using the energies of society. It channels volunteer work and offers and helps cities and communities in making decisions. Ultimately, Budapest Dialog helps in the democratization of urban planning processes.

The concept of Budapest Dialog won funding on the Smart City Lab Budapest competition in June 2014. The detailed design and

coding were implemented by October 2014. The application runs online and it can be used on mobile devices too. Each project is shown with a unique pictogram. By clicking on them the project sheets pops up. Every project is defined by its theme and category to help filtering and notifications.

To suggest a project in your neighborhood just take out your mobile device, create your “dialog” and pin it on the map. Take some pictures and attach them to the project sheet. Choose a theme and a category. Give it a title and share it with a short description. Your “dialog” is now on the map.Projects can be marked and commented, and there is also a possibility to offer donations or volunteer work.

Based on the theme and classification notifications are sent to the local government’s office in charge and to users interested in that specific area.
