TIPS AND GUIDELINES

Question 1 ( 10 marks )

o You may use all the words in the table provided o Not necessary to write sentences in order o Avoid giving name to characters. Example; Ali, Abu, My mother

etc. o Try not to write something of abstract not in picture. o Avoid using connectors such as, then, after that, so at the

beginning of sentences. o Write a report of what you see not a story o Try to have only one tenses in sentences. o Be careful with spelling, punctuation and writing. o Do not write more than one sentence per line. o Write about the activities in the picture not about the picture. o Write good sentence using correct sentence structures.

Question 2a ( 10 marks )

o Usually a table. o Write legibly in each table , rows and columns. o Make sure that the information is transferred correctly in

respective places o When dealing with numbers be specific and careful o Apply the punctuation rules and for upper case and lower case

must be followed for Proper Nouns. o Do not leave table unanswered o Double check the spelling and words written. o Merely filling in table with correct information. o Information should be transferred correctly without any mistake

or punctuation or spelling error. o Not much problem only wrongly spelt words, could not

understand writing. Need to be more accurate in information transfer.

o The easiest in the English paper, should get full marks.

Question 2b ( 05 marks )

o Always choose the product and write on the space provided. o Give reasons to every point o Write at least 5 to 6 points with good reasoning and in coherence with

the passage o Try to use the information given in the table when writing the sentences. o End the sentences appropriately. o Avoid spelling errors, punctuations and tenses mistakes. o Write legibly. Writing should be legible ( easily read and readable ) o Cannot understand passages and handwriting. o Questions unanswered. o Not relevant to pictures or tasks given o Very simple and not giving enough reasoning and the reasons are not

clear. o Just copying the questions. o Not using all the words given. Changing words o Points must be elaborated to get good marks o Punctuation should be given the most care o Try to avoid contradicting ideas on passage written. o Always end with sentences to support your choices. o Should elaborate in context and coherence with item chosen o Mistakes should be erased completely. Get a good eraser. o Choices should be in the positive side. Go for the best value, the best

price, the best offer. We will have more to write. o Should have introductions but not too much a length until it takes 50%

of your answer. o Get at least 4 to 5 points and elaborate on it. o Can talk on an item and elaborate it in any ways (if you can ) o The common pitfall. Carries 5 marks. o When objects or things chosen, write the reasons, elaborate point by

giving your reasons. o Use of proverb should be correct . Contradicting ideas .e.g. My house is

far. It is just a stone’s throw away..

Question 3 ( 15 marks )

o Read all the key words given. o Try to be specific whether the story is in the Past, Present or

Future Tense. o Write accordingly. All words can be used not in order. o Try to write in Paragraphs. ( 3 – 4 paragraphs ) o Avoid lengthy introductions and closing. o Beware of spelling, tenses and punctuation errors. o Try to have continuity and flow in story. o Try to use all the words given o Pictures must relate to answers. e.g. picture of a boy ( answers

should be a boy not girl ) o Name Fatimah…..do not change it to Fetty. o Words can be jumbled up but must not be changed. o Do not change the tenses of given words. e.g. ( last night to

today) o Write properly and legibly ( can be read )
