BandungRegency(KabupatenBandung,oftenreferredtoastheBandungDistrict)isanadministrativeregencylocatedtothesouth,southeastandeastofthecityofBandung.ThenorthernpartsoftheBandungRegencyareeffectivelypartoftheBandungMetropolitanArea(technicallythewholeoftheRegencyiswithintheMetropolitanArea),withthesouthernthirdbeinglessurbanizedandjuttingupwardsfromtheValley,thoughnotassharplyasthemountainrangetotheimmediatenorthofBandung.TheRegencyispartoftheIndonesianprovinceofWestJava,andissituatedabout75milessoutheastofJakarta.ThecityofSoreangisthecapitaloftheregency.

FirstCimahiCitybecameautonomousandthenWestBandungRegencywassplitofffromtheregency.Inthe2010Census,thepopulationreached3,178,543afterfinaladjustments.[1]Thelatestofficialestimate(forJanuary2014)is3,418,246,foranaveragedensityofroughly1,933persquarekilometre.
