BANKRATE:Thebankratealsoknownasthediscountrate,istherateofinterestchargedbytheRBIforprovidingfundsorloanstotheBankingsysteminindia.Italsosignalsthemediumtermstanceofmonetarypolicy.
OPENMARKETOPERTIONS(OMO):Thebuyingandsellingofgovernmentsecuritiesintheopenmarketinordertoexpandorcontracttheamountofmoneyinthebankingsystem.Purchasesinjectmoneyintothebankingsystemandstimulategrowthwhilesalesofsecuritiesdotheopposite.
LIQUIDITYADJUCTMENTFACILITY(LAF):LiquidityAdjustmentFacilityistheprimaryinstrumentofReserveBankofIndiaformodulatingliquidityandtransmittinginterestratesignals
tothemarket.Underthescheme,repoauctions(forabsorptionofliquidity)andreverserepoauctions(forinjectionofliquidity)areconductedonadailybasis(exceptSaturdays).Itissamedaytransactions,withinterestratesdecidedonacutoffbasisandderivedfromauctionsonuniformpricebasis.

TOOLSOFQUALITATIVEMEASURES:
CREDITCEILING:InthisoperationRBIissuespriorinformationordirectionthatloanstothecommercialbankswillbegivenuptoacertainlimit.Inthiscasecommercialbankwillbetightinadvancingloanstothepublic.Theywillallocateloanstolimitedsectors.Fewexampleofceilingareagriculturesectoradvances,prioritysectorlending.
MORALSUASION:MoralSuasionsaresuggestionandguidelinesbytheRBItothecommercialbankstotakesoandsoactionandmeasuresinsoandsotrendoftheeconomy.RBImayrequestcommercialbanksnottogiveloansforunproductivepurposewhichdoesnotaddtoeconomicgrowthbutincreasesinflationintheeconomy.
CREDITAUTHORIZATIONSCHEME:CreditAuthorizationSchemewasintroducedinNovember,1965whenPCBhattacharyawasthechairmanofRBI.UnderthisinstrumentofcreditregulationRBIaspertheguidelineauthorizesthebankstoadvanceloanstodesiredsectors
