    The Baroque period in music history lasted from about 1600 to about 1750.

    After receiving a full scholarship and graduating from McMaster University in Honours Music Summa Cum Laude, Nancy Nelson received a Canada Council Grant for further oboe and English horn studies in

    Philadelphia. She plays oboe and English horn with the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra and the Brantford Symphony, is a hired professional with the Oakville Symphony, and has performed in the Toronto Symphony, Kitchener Waterloo Symphony, Symphony Niagara and Orchestra London oboe sections. Nancy also regularly performed in the musicals Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Miss Saigon, Showboat, Ragtime, Beauty and the Beast, House of Martin Guerre, Annie Get Your Gun, Wicked, and in NOTL (My Fair Lady, Ragtime and Sweeney Todd). She is oboe instructor at McMaster University, has a private music studio in her home (piano/oboe/theory) and is also Organist and Music Director at Christ Church Flamborough.

    The Board of Directors is looking for new members who share a love of music and an interest in promoting the orchestra in the community. We would welcome individuals with experience from various professions, especially finance, marketing and fund raising. Though prior board experience would be an asset, we invite people who are hard working and motivated to being involved in an organization with a strong history and an exciting future. Regular board meetings take place on the third Tuesday of each month at 4:00 pm
