ABOUT US

The Manipur Institute of Technology (erstwhile Government College of Technology) was established on 28th August 1998 by the Government of Manipur as Pioneer Engineering College in the State. On 31st December 2003, the College was renamed as Manipur College of Technology and the management of the College was handed over to a Society headed by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Manipur as Chairman. Further, the Institute was renamed as Manipur Institute of Technology (MIT) since 4th February 2005. MIT became a Constituent College of Manipur University w.e.f. 13th October 2005. The Institute is offering B.E. and M. Tech. Programs in (i) Civil Engineering, (ii) Electronics & Communication Engg. and (iii) Computer Sc. & Engineering; Ph. D. Programmes in (i) Civil Engineering and (ii) Electronics & Communication Engineering.

MIT Manipur University Campus is located at Canchipur, Imphal, the capital city of Manipur. The university campus is spread over an area of 287 acres in the historic Canchipur which is the site of the old palace of Manipur “The Langthabal Konung (Palace)” which was established by Maharaja Ghambhir Singh in 1827 AD just after the liberation of Manipur from Burmese (Myanmar) occupation. Maharaja Gambhir Singh took his last breath at Canchipur. Canchipur is located along the National Highway (NH-2) at about 8 km. from the heart of the Imphal City and 12 km. from Imphal International Airport.

DISTRIBUTION OF SEATS AND RESERVATION

DISTRIBUTION OF SEATS:

Annual intake is 150 (CE-60; CSE-45; ECE-45), 20% extra seats of section intake is reserved for Lateral Entry admission. The seats will be filled up on All India basis based on the rank/marks of the JEE (Main) 2018. A cut off mark/rank for JEE (Main) 2018 shall be decided by the Institute for admission.

RESERVATIONS:

i. Seats for SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates are reserved as per Government of India norms. Those who have secured marks above the level up to which general category students are admitted, shall not be counted towards reserved quota at all and shall be included in the general merit list of admission.

One seat is reserved in each of Civil Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Computer Science & Engineering for candidates who have represented State at the National /International competition of sports or other co-curricular activities during the last 2 years.

3% of the seats in each discipline are reserved for PwD candidates. Candidates who wish to avail this should produce a relevant certificate/documents from the Competent Authority (vide Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India’s letter No. DL/A/C CD/2002 dated I2.11.2002).

ii. One supernumerary seat will be given in every discipline of the Institute to the Defense Service personnel in case they fulfill the prescribed qualifications for admission.

iii. 5% seats out of the 15% supernumerary seats for foreign students will be reserved for the wards of the Indian workers in the Gulf (vide UGC’s letter F. 1-30/94 (CPP-II) dated 13.10.2000).

iv. One supernumerary seat also may be provided to the displaced Kashmiri migrants.

v. Reserved seats shall be deemed to be unreserved if suitable candidates are not available.

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION

(i) Candidate shall be eligible if he/she has passed the HSSLC (10+2) Examination or its equivalent examination recognised by Manipur University obtaining at least 45% (40% in case of SC/ST candidates) marks in the following subjects taken together:

1. Physics 2. Mathematics 3. Any one of (Chemistry /Biotechnology / Biology / Technical Vocational subject).

(ii) JEE (Main) 2018 appeared candidate.

DATE OF BIRTh:

Only those candidates whose date of birth falls on or after October 01, 1993 are eligible for admission. However, in the case of Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) candidates, upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years, i.e. SC, ST and PwD candidates who are born on or after October 01, 1988 are eligible. Date of birth as recorded in the Secondary Education Board/University certificate will only be considered.

MEDICAl FITNESS:

Each candidate is required to submit a Medical Fitness Certificate at the time of admission.

COUNSEllING AND SElECTION:

Candidates will be called for counselling on the basis of the Merit List prepared strictly based on the mark/rank of JEE (Main) 2018. They will have to appear for counselling at MIT, Takyelpat, Imphal. The list of recommended candidates for admission after counselling will be displayed on the Institute’s Notice Board and website www.mitimphal.in.

The ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS to be produced at the time of counselling:

a) Mark Sheet of qualifying examination;

b) HSLC Certificate/Admit Card as Proof of Age;

c) Character Certificate from Head of the Institution last attended;

d) In case of SC/ST, PwD and OBC candidates, the original Cast/Tribe, PwD and OBC Certificates issued by Competent Authority;

e) Study discontinuation/Study gap Certificate from the Competent Authority (Head of recognized Institute where the candidate may be pursuing studies or Officer in charge of nearest Police Station where the candidate resides for not pursuing studies);

f) JEE (Main) 2018 Score Card.

Selection will be made subject to availability of seats, category-wise in different branches. The candidates should come prepared with their preference for admission to different branches of engineering.

Some of the important e-journals are IEEE, ELSEVIER, ASCE etc.

LANGUAGE LAB.The Institute has established a

Language Lab. under the funding of AICTE- NEQIP to improve the communication as well as writing skills particularly for the students of this Institute. There are 20 clients/ terminals with one Workstation Server. This Laboratory provides facilities for the faculties also to improve their teaching methods and techniques.

wIThDRAwAl AND REFUND:

If admission of any candidate is refused/ cancelled on the ground of his/ her having furnished false particulars detected later on or his/her having suppressed materials/ information, the total amount of fees deposited by the candidate shall stand

forfeited by the Institute. Caution Money of ₹ 7,000/-is refundable if the candidate successfully completes his/her course. In any other cases the caution money shall refundable after completion of 4 years from the date of admission.

STUDENTS DISCIPLINE(i) Greater emphasis is laid on building high moral character and discipline among the

student community. Students are also expected to maintain a high standard of discipline and adhere to the Rules and Regulations of the Institution and Hostels.

(ii) The Principal reserves the right to take disciplinary actions against any student for (a) failure to pay college fees, (b) failure to come up to the prescribed standard and (c) unsatisfactory conduct etc.

(iii) Ragging in any form is totally banned in the entire institution, including its departments, constituent units, all its premises (academic, residential, sports, canteen, etc.) whether located within the campus or outside and in all means of transportation of students whether public or private.

(iv) The institution shall take strict action against those found guilty of ragging and/or abetting ragging.

(v) A student seeking admission to the Institute shall have to submit the undertaking in the prescribed formats of Annexure-I & Annexure-II with his/her Application Form under Clause No. 6.1.7 of the “UGC Regulations on Curbing Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009”.
