Here’s the Sitch...
We were able to drastically lower the Renton property taxes—and we’ll be able to file for a refund of taxes paid for the last 5 ½ years. The property, which has been a liability for years due to on-site contamination, is currently under contract to sell and we’ll know by mid-October if the sale goes through.
Because of your generosity, we have now raised over $152,000 for the Bishop’s Appeal. That’s 153% of our parish goal! Your contributions will help serve the needs of our diocesan family.
Blessings,
Fr. Ken
“No servant can serve two masters. He will either hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and mam-mon.”
I tried and failed at serving both Jesus and mammon. They were both disappointed with me for not giving either 100% as I had promised. They both got tired of me and fired me. So, I did the logical thing. I found myself asking Jesus to take me back and He did! HE took me back!!! And my life changed quite a bit. Since that change, I have put into play many other changes, tweaks as you may say, to get better at doing what I intend to do: serve.
This week’s Gospel challenges us to make decisions. Who am I going to follow? To serve? How can I become a faithful and intentional disciple of the Lord Jesus? Should I be prayerful or playful or both? I have been given access to an Adoration Chapel. Do I take advantage of this wonderful oppor-tunity or I pass by it without stopping to say hello to the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament? Do I seek advice and counsel say, once a month from my spiritual guide? Do I have a spiritual guide? Do I avail myself of the opportunity of reconciliation once a month? When was the last time I approached the Sacrament of Reconciliation?
My dad used to tell me: “Rigo, be careful what you ask for, you may get it, and you will not like it.” So, who is your master? Jesus or mammon?
From the Desk of Dcn. Rigo...
Formed.org
Formed.org is undergoing some changes and improvements. If you already have an account, you’ll only need your email address to log
in. If signing up for the first time, you will not need a Parish Code, just our parish name. They’ve done away with the Community Page, among other features. Each week, when we recommend a par-ticular video, audio, or book, you will need to search the item on Formed.org.
FORMED Pick of the Week: Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal https://market.formed.org/shop-products/our-lady-of-the-miraculous-medal.html
From the moment her guardian angel took her hand and led her to the miraculously little convent chapel, young Sister Catherine Labouré’s life would be changed forever. Our Lady gave St. Catherine a special duty to spread the wearing of and devotion to the miraculous medal. Of course, the medal is a symbol of the fabulous graces Our Lady bestows on souls who truly search out her Son, Jesus.
