Depending on reception, you maynot be able to use the navigational func-tion inside buildings. When used in vehi-cles, you may not be able to adequately re-ceive GPS data depending on how theNavigation device is installed. Maintenance and care
The unit is maintenance-free.
For proper care, a commercially availablecleansing fluid for electrical devices maybe applied using a soft damp cloth.
Your mobile navigation system was de-signed and manufactured with great careand should be treated with equal care. You
will enjoy your mobile navigation systemfor a long time to come if you observe therecommendations listed in the following:
Protect your mobile navigation unitand the accessories from water andmoisture. If your unit has been exposed
to moisture, switch it off immediatelyand disconnect the power supply. Allowto dry at room temperature.
Do not operate your mobile navigationsystem in a dusty or dirty environmentand do not store it in such an environ-
ment.
Do not store your mobile navigationsystem in hot environments. High tem-peratures can shorten the service life ofelectronic components in your unit, damage the rechargeable batteries andcause certain plastics to warp or melt.
Do not store your mobile navigationsystem in cold environments. Duringoperation, when the unit warms up to
operating temperature, moisture mayform internally, causing damage to elec-tronic components.
Do not drop your mobile navigationsystem unit, protect it from shocks anddo not shake it. Improper handling can
damage components within the unit.
Never use corrosive or aggressive chem-icals, cleaning solutions or aggressivedetergents for cleaning.
All the above information applies equallyto the mobile navigation system, the re-

Battery quality declaration
The capacity of the rechargeable battery in
your mobile navigation system decreases with every charging/discharging cycle.Improper storage at excessively high orlow temperatures may also cause a gradualdeterioration of capacity. Consequently, the operating time may be substantially
reduced even in the case of a fully chargedbattery.
Display quality declaration
In some cases, for technical reasons, a few
discoloured dots (pixels) may be visible onthe display. Some pixels may also appearbrighter or darker. However, such in-stances do not represent a product flaw.
Start-up
Once the Navigation device has been un-packed and checked for damage, the unitcan be started up. The individual start-upstages are:
connect to power supply
Switching on the unit Ensuring antenna reception (if naviga-
tion is desired)

Navigation mode
What is navigation?
The term "navigation" (lat. navigare = to
travel by sea) is generally understood tomean the location of a vehicle, the deter-mination of the direction and distancefrom the desired destination and the de-termination of the required route. Stars, prominent landmarks, compass and satel-
lites etc. are used as navigation aids. With the Navigation device, the locationis determined by the GPS receiver. TheGlobal Positioning System (GPS) was de-veloped during the 1970s by the US mili-tary as a weapons guiding system.GPS is based on a total of 24 satellites or-biting the Earth and emitting signals. AGPS receiver receives these signals anduses the signal times to calculate the dis-tance to an individual satellite, and thendetermines your current geographical po-sition.
Signals from at least three satellites are re-quired to determine your position; yourheight above sea level can be calculated if
signals are received from four or more sat-ellites.The Navigation device determines the di-rection and distance from the destinationusing a navigation computer and a digitalstreet map held in its internal memory.
For safety reasons, route guidance is givenpredominantly in spoken form. This issupported by a direction indicator and amap display on the touch screen.
Safety instructions
Road traffic regulations always take
priority. The navigation system is onlyan aid. Errors may occur in individualdata items/entries. At all times, thedriver must decide whether or not toheed the information provided.
We do not accept liability for errone-
ous data provided by the navigationsystem.
When first put into use it can take upto 30 minutes to fix the position.
Observation of traffic signs and localtraffic regulations must always take pri-
ority. Traffic guidance is restricted to passen-
ger vehicles. Special driving recom-mendations and regulations for othervehicles (e.g. commercial vehicles) arenot included.
Destinations may only be enteredwhen the vehicle is stationary.
