Introducing the first ever Bedford Street Arts Festival!Become a part of Bedford’s history by attending this much anticipated, multicultural, energy-filled extravaganza; see you there!Come and join us on 7th September in Bedford Park for celebrations and a fun-filled, family day where you will all have the chance to get involved in lots of different engagingactivities in the four main areas of Dance, Arts, Theatre and Music. Explore the heritage history area or just sit back and enjoy the beautiful setting in Bedford Park. Paradetimes are 1pm and 4pm encircling the park, taking just over an hour. The parade is a mixture of 12 local Bedford groups, who want to show their support for SpectaculArts andthe vision to support each other. They will be walking the route accompanied by funky cars with cool sound systems, many of these groups are in cultural dress and Rhythm of theCity Salsa band will end the procession sponsored by Eagles Brewery.All areas will be open until 6pm, leaving the main stage open until 8pm, where we plan to bring the event to a close. We have a great line up of Dj's for the day and a few performances toend the day bringing us altogether to truly see the unity within Bedford. Enjoy this exciting event with your friends and family - bring along your picnic blankets and/or camping chairs to chill out and fully enjoy the day! There will be something for everyone! We have 14 foods vendors open until 6pm from around the world, three bars serving a variety of beers, lagers, wine and spirits. The bar will be open until 7.30pm.

Dance QuarterThe Dance Quarter will showcase local dance troupes from Bedford, performances from 11.30am to 4pm. Take in the power moves and dynamism of various acts from street jazz, tap dance, modern, ballet, Latin American dance, dance fitness, cheerleading, ballroom dancing to line dancing! Indian, Salsa and Polish dance groups will also be part of the Main Parade.

Arts QuarterLocal artists will have their arts and crafts on display, so come and have a look at our regional talent! Spoken word performances will also be a highlight of the day so if you like poetry, come and have a listen! Graffiti artist Snow will be starting the day with a blank canvas and will create a piece during the day.

Music QuarterThere will be a line up of extremely talented, local DJs and PA's throughout the day for you to take in and chill out to a wide range of music. Lively carnival vibes and finishing off with soulful house and garage, so sit back, relax and enjoy!

Theatre QuarterHosted by The Quarry and The Place theatres, featuring a pop-up box office and a Travelling Theatre Company, allowing your imagination to run wild! Join in with the workshops and silent carnival around the park!

BarsWe have licenced bar area on the day serving beers, lagers, ales, ciders, wines, gins and a prosecco van. The bars are closed from 7.30pm.

OthersIn addition to all of the amazing acts going on in the 4 main quarters, we have plenty of other wonderful events happening and displays to see - there is something for everyone! Head over to the Holistic & Wellbeing Area and introduce the children to the ancient Hindu practice of Yoga or take the opportunity to re-centre yourself with some mindful meditation with a Buddhist monk. Experience some sound bath therapy, laughter therapy or shamanic healing. Discover the meaning of your dreams with Delphi and go and purchase a healing plant that may go a long way to healing your body!Check out Book Love Books stall – a travelling bookstore that specialises in fascinating, multicultural themed books. A plethora of multicultural history and its’ first appearance in Bedford, there will be something of interest to all. Never a dull moment for the kids as the Children’s Funfair Area will have children’s rides, a bungee experience, a circus dome and merry go round amongst other things to keep the children entertained!Get back into fitness and try a sports workshop in the Have A Go Sports Area! Tennis, basketball and Parkour will be available for you to try at the public tennis courts in the park.Visit the Supercar Village with over 25 supercars on display! It’s the ideal photo opportunity with such a diverse range of magnificent dream machines... which one is your favourite?Check out Boxing & Martial Arts Demonstrations at the boxing ring near the Have A Go Sports Area. Boxers from East Area Boxing Club will be putting on demonstrations throughout the day for your viewing pleasure!Bring your own picnic to eat in the Picnic Area or sample foods from around the world at the many food stalls at the Festival. From Caribbean to Italian, Indian, Indonesian, Vegan and many other cuisines, be prepared tobe delighted at the range of food that you can savour on the day. This area will be closed at 6pm.
