Biography Born on May 4, 1958 in Reading, Pennsylvania. Died on February 16, 1990. Grew up with his mother and father who was a

cartoonist. From 1976 to 1978 he studied commercial arts

at The Ivy School of Professional Art in Pittsburgh.

In 1978, lost interest in commercial arts and switched to fine arts.

At age 19, he moved to New York City. New York City’s graffiti art inspired him. He then studied at the School of Visual Arts. First became known by drawing with chalk in the

subway stations. This is where his “Radiant Baby” first developed

as a symbol for Haring. By 1982, Keith was well known amongst other

artists and had friends like Futura 2000, Kenny Scharf, and Madonna.

Became internationally known when he visited Australia and painted the walls of Melbourne.

1985- Haring started to paint canvas. Openly gay. Died of AIDS-related complications.
