Set the desired Group ID within 0001 to 4095 forgroup calls. (Start: 4000, End: 4095 are default)When the Group ID range is set, the individual IDrange is set automatically. In the same system, the same ID range must beset.

Set the Common ID within 0001 to 4095 range. The same ID must be set for all transceivers thatare going to communicate in the group. The base station can communicate to all stationswhen changing the Common ID setting when usedwith the PC control command.

Select the appropriate country code, specified byETS 300 230, from the list. The same country codemust be set to all transceivers in that country.Select Others when no appropriate country code islisted. Each ID and code are transmitted in the sequenceas follows when making a call.

Individual ID must be within the range of theIndividual ID range, specified by the Group ID rangesetting.Code 0001 to 3999 are assignable as the individualID by default 3999 codes are available. (Code0000 is the fixed code for Clear Down transmis-sion.)Code 4000 to 4095 are assignable as the group IDby default 96 codes are available. And there are 32 country codes and 4095 commonIDs.

    32 4,095 3,999=524,028,96032 4,095 96=12,579,840

So the BIIS system provides 524,028,960 ways forindividual, and 12,579,840 ways for group selectivecalling in the entire system.

Set the desired killer ID which disables the trans-ceivers operation. When receiving a call with the killer ID, the stunfunction will be activated. In this case, passwordinput is necessary, and the transceiver cannot beoperated until entering the correct password.

ID:Enter the Own ID for the transceiver into No. 0within the Individual ID range.Enter the Group ID into No.1 to No.7 within theGroup ID range. The transceiver is always standing-by with theown ID during MSK operation. If the repeater transmits a CTCSS tone, select thesame tone frequency in RX of C. Tone in theMemory Channel screen.

wSet TAC (TAD), as well as Call LET Timer andAck LET Timer in the MSK Timing and Errorscreen.

    Default value

    Setting value example

When transmitting a CTCSS tone signal, CTCSSReverse Burst Timer (set in Continuous ToneSetting: Default value=0.30 sec.) is used to preventunwanted squelch tail noise in the receiving station.

NOTE: When CTCSS signaling is used on anMSK channel, timer extension is necessary andthe total calling time is extended. However, whenusing a CTCSS tone signal for repeater operationonly, the default value of TAC (TAD) can be usedby turning OFF the CTCSS Reverse Burst Timer.Even in this case, Call LET Timer and Ack LETTimer default value cannot be used.

    SETTING FOR REPEATER OPERATION3

Using MSK/5-Tone repeaterDD Cloning data settingqSelect MSK when operating with an MSK

repeater, or 5T: 5 Tone when operating with a 5-Tone repeater in Signal in the Memory Channel(Bank) screen.

When operating with an MSK repeaterwSelect (num): MSK Code in the RPT ID item

in Memory Channel (Bank) screen, then enter thedesired MSK code channel number, programmedin MSK Call list screen.

When operating with a 5-Tone repeaterwEnter the desired 5-tone code channel number in

the RPT item in Memory Channel (Bank) screen, programmed in 5Tone Tx Code CH screen.

eSet the suitable time period for each TAC (TAD),Call LET Timer and Ack LET Timer if neces-sary.

DD Explanation of 5-tone Repeater Use :Firstly, set the Call LET timer with a slightly largerthan usual time parameter, and transmit a call. Bydoing this, you can confirm whether or not the calledstation transmits an ACK.Example of time parameter : 0.5 sec.The Call LET timer value decreases in 0.05 sec.increments until the called stations transmit ACK dis-appears. A value of 0.05 sec. above that when theACK disappears should be set. Then set the same value gained (In this case0.05 sec.) in the Ack LET timer item too.The setting of the LET timer is completed at thispoint. It may be possible to receive an ACK from thecalled station via the repeater, but in general confir-mation of the TAC timer should be made.In the case that you cannot receive an ACK from thecalled station via the repeater even though the LETtimer setting is complete, try the following procedure.*If an ACK is not being received via the repeater, set theTAC timer to open with a larger 1.0 sec. margin.

The TAC timer value decreases in 0.1 sec. incre-ments until the value is 0.5 sec. above that at thetime the reception of the called stations ACK via therepeater disappears, should be set.

    15

Inhibiting the Clear Down transmission DD Cloning data settingqSelect a no reset code transmitting action, that

does not contain R1 and R2 for Moni, in SwitchAction in Memory Channel (Bank) screen. The Clear Down signal is transmitted as the reset

code, therefore the transceiver returns to inaudiblecondition without transmitting the Clear Down signalwhen no reset code is transmitted with [Monitor].

Select OFF in Moni in the Switch Action item toinhibit Clear Down transmission and inaudiblecondition. By doing this the Clear Down com-mand is given by the base station only.

When OFF is selected for Moni in SwitchAction, set the desired time period for eachTimer A, Timer B and Inactive Timer in AutoReset item. Also select Timer A + Inactive or Timer B +Inactive for Auto Reset in Switch Action inMemory Channel (Bank) to set the respectivetimer values.

These settings allow return to the inaudible condi-tion after the specified time period has passed, even when no Clear Down signal is received.
