Desde el punto de vista sociocultural ¿qué aporta el torneo a Castilla y León?“Este Torneo es algo más que un evento deportivo, aunque de una enorme cali-dad y reconocido prestigio internacional. Alrededor del mismo se realizan multitud de actividades de promoción deportiva dirigidas a los niños. Se realiza una com-petición paralela de tenis en silla de rue-das. Se ofrecen actividades de promoción turística, de folclore tradicional y de arte-sanía. Actividades de promoción cultural y de productos de Castilla y León. Y por último, se realizan acciones solidarias a favor de ONG`s y campañas de donación de sangre. Además de la relevancia depor-tiva, turística, social y cultural, genera un importante volumen de empleo que ronda 500 puestos de trabajo directos, a los que se añaden los beneficios que repercuten en alojamientos, restaurantes, transportes, medios de comunicación y demás empre-sas de la zona”.¿Es el Open Castilla y León Villa de El Espinar una baza importante para el tu-rismo regional?“El deporte ya está considerado como una atracción turística fundamental para el desarrollo de la industria del sector. Ade-más, amén de atraer a los aficionados al tenis, permiten a multitud de aficionados conocer el patrimonio, la naturaleza y las oportunidades de ocio que ofrece Castilla y León.Se cifra en casi siete millones de euros la repercusión del ATP Open Castilla y León en los medios de comunicación. Conscien-te de esa importancia, la Junta de Castilla y León ha estado siempre al lado de los promotores de un torneo modélico por su eficaz organización y por atraer a los mejo-res tenistas del mundo”.¿Cuál fue su primera vinculación con el torneo?“Fue una de las primeras citas a las que acudí al incorporarme como consejera de Cultura y Turismo”.

¿Cuáles son los mejores momentos que recuerda de estos últimos años, en los que usted ha ejercido como consejera de cultura de la Junta de Castilla y León?“Creo que todos los años han tenido algo especial. Resulta difícil destacar algo por-que el torneo siempre ha supuesto una de las citas deportivas destacadas del año. Quizá la catalogación de mejor challenger del mundo fue uno de los grandes mo-mentos”. ¿Qué es lo que más le ha impresionado del torneo, dentro o fuera de la parcela estrictamente deportiva? “Podría hablar y no parar de las excelen-cias de este torneo. Pero si algo me ha lla-mado la atención es la predisposición del personal colaborador en la organización del torneo hacia los miles de aficionados que se desplazan a presenciarlo en direc-to. Asisto a numerosos actos de diverso tipo y en ningún otro lugar he conocido una atención tan esmerada como aquí. Estos colaboradores sienten este evento como algo suyo y el cariño que le profesan lo vuelcan hacia todos los asistentes”.

From a social-cultural view, what does the tournament to Castilla y Leon?“This tournament is some else than a sport event, although this have a great quality and recognized international pres-tige, around itself there is many activities of sport promotion to the children. There is a tennis competition in wheelchair at the same time. They offer some activities of tourist promotion, about folklore and craft traditional. Activities of cultural promo-tion and Castilla y Leon Products. Finally, there is solidary actions to performed to NGO´s and blood donation campaign. Besides to the sports, tourism, social and cultural relevant, it generate an important number of direct employment, around 500 jobs, there is to add the impact of benefits in hotels, restaurants, transport, media and others companies of the area”.

Is the Open Castilla y Leon of El Espi-nar an important asset to the tourism?“The sports is now consider as a key of tourist attraction for the development of the industry. Besides to bring the tennis fans, this allow to other many fans to know about the patrimony, the nature and the leisure opportunities that offer Casitlla y Leon. Amounts to nearly seven million euros impact of the ATP Open Castilla y Leon in the media. Aware of the importan-ce, the Junta of Castilla y Leon has been always beside the sponsors of this model tournament for its effective organization and to attract the best tennis players of the world”.What was your first connection with the tournament?“It was one of the first appointments to which I went to join as Minister of Cultural and Tourism”.What are the best moments to remem-ber in recent years, in which you have served as Minister of Culture of the Junta de Castilla y Leon?“I think every year has had something special. It is difficult to emphasize some-thing because the tournament has always been a notable sporting event of the year. May be the cataloguing as the best Cha-llenger of the world was one of the grea-test moments”.What is the most impressive about the tournament for you, either inside or outside the plot purely sporting?“I could not stop talking about the exce-llence of this tournament. But if something has caught my attention is the willingness of the collaboration of the staff the organi-zation of the tournament to the thousands of fans who go to see this live. I attend many events of various kinds, and an-ywhere else I have met so careful atten-tion as here. These employees feel this event as their own, and love that profess they give it to all attendees.”

Pablo Carreño Busta será una de las es-trellas de futuro inmediato que se batirán en El Espinar 2011. El jugador gijonés, que entrena en el Club de Tenis Barcelo-na a las órdenes de Javier Duarte, aban-derará en las rápidas pistas segovianas a la nueva generación, relevo de la actual armada española.

Formado en el Grupo de Cultura Cova-donga hasta hace cinco años, cuando se trasladó a la Ciudad Condal, Carreño ha cerrado el mes de mayo a lo grande, con-siguiendo su primera victoria challenger sobre la tierra de Alessandria, en Italia, y justo una semana después de haber al-canzado las semis sobre la pista rápida del challenger de Cremona, también en el país transalpino.

Además, alcanzó la antepenúltima ronda en el challenger de Rabat, después de sumar sendos triunfos en Futures de Ma-llorca y Murcia, que añadir a los dos que ya ostentaba antes del inicio del año, y a los 4 ITF Junior que atesora el que fuera campeón cadete de España.Pablo ha reconocido al Boletín de El Espi-nar que “me hace especial ilusión jugar el mejor challenger del mundo. Me encuen-tro cómodo en pista rápida y no tengo problemas para adaptarme a la altitud”.

Pablo Carreño Busta is one of the imme-diate future stars who will fight in El Es-pinar 2011. The Gijon player, who trains at Club de Tenis Barcelona on the orders of Javier Duarte, he will lead on the fast court, the next Segovian generation, over from the current Spanish Army.

Dos tenistas de clubes madrileños se han hecho acreedores de sendas tarjetas de ac-ceso para los torneos internacionales caste-llano leoneses.

Miriam Civera (C.T. Chamartín) y Fernando Rivas (Univ. Europea Tenispain, Las Rozas), han sido los campeones del primer Torneo de la Ilusión Open Castilla y León, auspi-ciado y patrocinado por el ATP Challenger Open Castilla y León ‘Villa de El Espinar’, lo que les ha reportado sendos wild card para tomar parte en el ITF de Valladolid y en los Internacionales de España en Pista Rápida.

Rivas logró el wild card para la fase previa del ATP Challenger tras imponerse en la final al jugador anfitrión Mario Muñesa por 7/5 y 6/3; mientras que Civera se impuso en el cuadro femenino a Clara Pérez Mar-cos (Universidad Europea Tenispain) por un doble 6/2, accediendo con ello al wild card para la fase previa del ITF de Valladolid.

El torneo nacional disputado en las pistas del complejo municipal de El Espinar, con organización del Club Deportivo de Tenis El Espinar y la colaboración de Caja Segovia y el Ayuntamiento de El Espinar, reunió a ju-gadores procedentes de Segovia, Zamora y Madrid, en esta edición inaugural. Estuvo dirigido por Quino Muñoz, actual director deportivo del Open Castilla y León ‘Villa de El Espinar’, quien estuvo acompañado en la entrega de premios por Miguel Muñoz, pre-sidente de la entidad organizadora; Pedro Muñoz, presidente y fundador del Challen-ger; y la directora de éste, Virginia Ruano.

Miriam Civera (C.T. Chamartín) and Fernan-do Rivas (Tenispain Europe University - Las Rozas), have been the champions at the first Enthusiastic Open Castilla y Leon Tour-nament. Which was sponsored by The ATP Challenger Open Castilla y Leon “Villa de El

Espinar” this is one of the reason why they achieved the wild card to be in the ITF of Valladolid and in the Spanish Internationals Fast Court Championships.

Rivas got the wild card in the preliminary phase at the ATP Challenger after he won against the host player Mario Muñesa for 7/5 and 6/3, in the meantime Civera was the winner in the women´s table to Clara Pérez Marcos (Tenispain Europe University) for 6/2 and 6/2.

The National Tournament was hard-fought in the municipal facilities in El Espinar, It was organized with the Sport Tennis Club El Es-pinar, the collaboration of Caja Segovia and the El Espinar Council. During this opening edition, the tournament brought different players from Segovia, Zamora and Madrid.Quino Muñoz, was in charge of the tourna-ment, he is the current Sports Director for the Open Castilla y Leon “Viia de El Espinar”. Miguel Muñoz the president of the main or-ganization presented the trophy ceremony. Pedro Muñoz, the president and founder of the Challenger, and Virginia Ruano, the Di-rector of the Tournament were present du-ring the award ceremony.

Coincidiendo con la celebración de la vi-gésimo sexta edición del Open Castilla y León Villa de El Espinar, esta localidad segoviana acogerá los días 4, 5 y 6 de agosto el seminario de organizadores y directores de torneos de tenis.

Bajo el título de “Tenis es Más que Tenis”, en el seminario se abordará una amplia temática que incluirá aspectos relacio-nados con la organización de un torneo. Está dirigido a directores, coordinadores, presidentes, gerentes y especialistas del sector y tiene como objetivo la optimiza-ción de la gestión en la organización de un evento deportivo, aplicando la me-todología y los instrumentos existentes para ello.

Además, pretende convertirse en un pun-to de encuentro, de relaciones y convi-vencia entre los profesionales del mundo del tenis, así como ser un foro de aprendi-zaje e intercambio de experiencias, viven-cias y conocimientos.

Coinciding with the celebration of the twenty-sixth edition of the Open Castilla y Leon Villa de El Espinar, Segovia, this town will host during the 4th, 5th and 6th of August, the seminar for organizers and tennis tournament directors.

Under the title “Tennis Is More Than Ten-nis”, the seminar will address a wide ran-ge of topics, including matters related to the organization of a tournament. La Asociación de Sumilleres de Castilla y León y el ATP Open Castilla y León Villa de El Espinar, un año más, promocionarán de forma conjunta, los vinos de Castilla y León. Se celebrará una cata dirigida por los profesionales de esta agrupación, cuyo presidente es el segoviano Pablo Martín. Durante el transcurso de este acto se nombrará a una destacada personalidad, que se haya distinguido por la promoción de los vinos de Castilla y León, a nivel nacional e internacional, como Sumiller de Honor de Castilla y León y se le hará entrega de la insignia de oro. El periodista de TVE Sergio Sauca (2007), el director de la revista Grand Slam, Miguel Ángel Zu-biarrain (2008), el periodista de Telecinco José Ribagorda (2009) y el cámara de TVE Evaristo Canete (2010), han sido las perso-nalidades que han recibido esta insignia.

Los actos de promoción del torneose expanden con la nueva dirección del evento. Así, a ambos lados de la Sierra de Malagón, se van a desarrollar sendas jornadas populares del ATP Challenger castellano leonés. Por el lado madrileño, el campo de fútbol La Herrería de San Lo-renzo de El Escorial será sede de una esas jornadas de pro-moción dirigida a niños y jóvenes, que tendrá lugar el viernes 17 de junio (de 18 a 20 horas). Por el lado abulense, el acto de acercamiento del torneo, acontecerá en Las Navas del Mar-qués, concretamente en su céntrica Plaza Nueva, el viernes 1 de julio en idéntico horario.

¿Cómo valoras que El Espinar apostara por pista rápida?“Siempre me ha parecido que fue uno de los grandes aciertos del torneo, lo distinguía y marcaba el camino a seguir. La tierra ya era conocida, el tenis iba a evolucionar y los grandes jugadores tenían que empezar a adaptarse a todas las condiciones en que se jugaría el número uno. Originalmente, no se jugaba en ningún sitio en España y marcó la pauta”.Más allá de la tierra ¿Crees que ante un challenger como El Espinar también los jóvenes son ahora más polifacéticos?“Sin lugar a duda. Antes, el español se sabía que era bueno en tierra y en otras superficies o abandonaba o simplemente cumplía, salía a ver qué podía hacer. A principio de los noventa, Emilio y Javier Sánchez Vicario empezaron a demostrar que se podía hacer algo fuera de la tierra. Los jóvenes tienen ahora una preparación mucho más equilibrada; se sigue partiendo de la tierra, pero ningún junior español, ninguna escuela, escapa a trabajar las demás superficies, para ir formando y alternando”.¿Se puede o se debe modernizar el tenis?“Siempre se ha modernizado, desde los orígenes. Primero se jugó en espacios naturales, sobre hierba, luego en superficies va-rias, después en pista cubierta, apareció el tie-break para acortar los tiempos, y ahora se emplea el ojo de halcón, un sistema que marca la línea a todos los deportes para ayudar al arbitraje. Lo que no sabemos es por dónde llegará la próxima revolución”.¿Son fáciles de trabajar los torneos para un periodista?“Hay de todo, pero si un torneo está bien organizado y bien re-glamentado, a lo que tienes derecho accedes. Es cierto que es un deporte muy mercantilizado, pero lo bueno es que sabes lo que puedes hacer antes de empezar. Es importante la relación que tengas con jugadores y con la organización”.¿De qué sirven 25 años en el mundo del tenis? Como los que cumple ahora Grand Slam.“Para conocer a la gente, sobre todo. A los que conocimos de junior los vemos retirados, de entrenadores, de comentaristas, hemos asistido a cómo el tenis moldea tu personalidad y a la evolución de las personas. Vimos a un ‘Pato’ Clavet chavalín, a un Nadal que decían era un chico que prometía mucho, vimos nacer El Espinar, vivimos el anterior torneo de Madrid en el Cha-martín, que desapareció por desgracia -algo que siempre es de lamentar-; y luego, la Caja Mágica, cuando era sólo un solar. Hemos podido vivir la edad de oro del tenis español, éxitos en Roland Garros, la evolución en Wimbledon, la Davis, un tenis que ahora está dispuesto a comérselo todo, por jugadores y por organización. Es curioso ver a aquellos tenistas que ahora son compañeros de crónicas”.¿Te imaginas El Espinar con cuadro femenino en 2012?“Creo que sí. El Espinar ha demostrado en veinticinco años que se hacen las cosas muy bien, y será un éxito, si se vuelve a partir de una base solida y se crece sobre ella; pienso que ten-dría que aumentar en instalaciones y disponer de algunas fijas durante todo el año, pero creo que ya estará en la mente de la organización”.A título personal ¿sacar o restar? ¿conversar con los jugado-res o escribir?“Más importante, restar. Se puede jugar al tenis y sacar bien, pero sin restar no. Me quedo con escribir, con transmitir las cró-nicas y las sensaciones”.

Which is your valuation of El Espinar daring with a hard court in those years?“The title just shows the space that was being looking for. It is a tourna-ment that I value for what it means, in all senses, at that moment ingenious for the surface, it was the counterpoint of the Godó. It has quite a lot on its surroundings, for the court, placing, achievements, as all the good ones have passed. It is a platform for new values and allows the Spanish to be seen”.On the top, the Spanish tennis does not confine itself only to clay courts. If it is for a better tournament, better later than sooner.”.At work, you don’t seem to have a bad time, why it that so?“Because we enjoy what we do, we believe in the product we are offering. Thanks to the protagonists and the tournaments, it is good, and the hours available in TVE can cope with it. As people tell us, they receive it very good. All things considered, we are satisfied. This little corner in the programming of TVE is one of the particular products and the audience seem to understand our message with great affection. And we have good vibrations”.Personally, serving or returning? Narrating or commenting? “Always serving. I like very much attacking. I think it is better to comment, because it allows you to enter the subjectivity, the nuances, to talk. You have to get involved in something”.

Pregunta necesaria ¿qué recuerdo guardas de tu paso en 2002 por el Challenger de El Espinar?

“El pueblo era muy lindo y el paisaje muy bonito, y eso hizo muy agradable mi estancia en el torneo”.

¿Cómo valoras que el primer gran challenger español se dis-pute desde el principio sobre pista rápida, en lugar de tierra?

“Está muy bien porque en España hay demasiados torneos en tierra batida y con este torneo en pista rápida se pueden ver otros jugadores y otras tácticas en el tenis”.

¿Crees que El Espinar puede ser una buena rampa de lanzamiento para los jugadores inter-nacionales?

“Si, nacionales e internacionales, da muchos puntos y el que lo gana tiene una gran subida en el ranking y una gran confi anza en el resto de la temporada”.

¿En qué golpes basas tu juego más agresivo sobre las pistas de tierra?

“Un buen saque y una buena derecha. Des-pués, tratar de hacer correr al contrario lo máxi-mo posible”.

Si una mañana de partido te levantas con el día tonto ¿de qué prefi eres disponer, de una buena cabeza, de un buen tacto, o de unas buenas piernas?.“De buena cabeza”.

Necessary question, what are your remembers in your way in 2002 by the Challenger of El Espinar?

“The village was very nice and had a pretty fi eld, this made my stay in the tournament was very pleasant”

what is your assess that the fi rst great Spanish Challenger be played from the begining in fast court instead clay court?

It is very good because in Spain there are many tournaments in clay court and this tournament in fast court you can see other players and other tactics of the tennis.

Do you think El Espinar is good to laun-ching for the international players?

“yes it is, National and international, it gives many points and the winner has a big rise in the ranking and it give a great trust in the rest of the season”

What shots do you base your game more aggressive over clay courts?

“In a good serve and in a good right. Then I try to make run the opposite player as much as it is possible”.

“If you wake up one day in the wrong side of the bed and you are not doing well what would you prefer?” having a good head over your shoulders? or having good legs to play a great game?

“I prefer to have good head”.
