Welcome to the annual Spleodar Festival. Over the Hallowe’en mid-term we look forward to bringing noise and light to the streets of Nenagh. We’ve got a great selection of workshops and events to keep the kids and family occupied and we look forward to meeting you at some point during the Festival.

BOOKING INFOTickets for all events and workshops will go on sale from the 6th October 2014. Patrons are advised that tickets must be paid for at the time of booking.

TERMS & CONDITIONS FOR BOOKING:No refunds, except in the event of a cancellation of a performance or event.

Each event/workshop has a maximum capacity set and the festival/artist cannot due to health and safety offer any additional spaces once the maximum number of tickets is sold.

PARENT NOTES:• Please book early for workshops and events to avoid disappointment.

• Make sure the performance or workshop you are attending is suitable for your child’s age – if it’s not, your child will not really enjoy it.

• Places will only be kept for five minutes before the beginning of the workshops, then places will be given to people waiting.

• Age limit and participant numbers will be strictly adhered to.

• In the interest of safety for all children please ensure you sign your child in and out of all workshops (leaving your contact details)

• The festival operates a child protection policy. This policy is available to view on request and on our website.

• Fireworks event: admission fee is payable on entry.

Pieces of Great presents “Under the Rainbow”. Come and see the Tipperary bears as they play and explore the magical world they inhabit under the rainbow. Tipperary craft artist Edel Grace gives us a glimpse inside the world of her creations. This magical world is where the bears play and explore in the company of some of their friends. A colourful world of adventure awaits!

Spleodar presents Banyan Theatre Company for two wonderful puppet shows

GOLDILOCKS AND THE THREE BEARSTime 1pm - 1.45pm Ages 3 - 7 Venue Nenagh Arts Centre Tickets €7.00If you go down to the woods today you’re sure to get a surprise... A curious young girl, a picnic in the woods, domesticated bears and lots and lots of porridge! A well-loved classic told in an imaginative and gentle way, through the use

of puppetry, storytelling and object theatre.

THE EMPEROR’S NEW CLOTHESTime 3.30pm - 4.20pm Ages 4 - 11 Venue Nenagh Arts Centre Tickets €7.00Two Swindlers come into town pretending to be master tailors. The vain Emperor summons them to fashion him a set of clothes the like of which have never been seen before. This charming and humorous adaptation is told through the use of puppetry, original music and storytelling. What the critics say: Banyan present a puppet version of ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes’ with deceptive simplicity and easy persuasive humour... the result is a richly witty and eloquently performed piece of theatre. Highly recommended!

Why robots? They are cool and interesting and by designing them, you learn several different skills; computer aided design, electronic and mechanical engineering, physics, computer science, programming, maths and practical skills. Colmac provide a platform that allows children to learn these skills in a fun, creative and stimulating environment. Robotics is the future... Do you want to be part of the next big thing?

MIXED MEDIA PRINT WORKSHOPS CRAFT YOUR OWN FUN MIXED MEDIA ARTWORK! THIS IS A HEADINGTime 10am - 11am Ages 5 - 8 Venue Tourist Office, Banba Sq Tickets €7.00Join textile and mixed media artist Lynn Kenny and create your own unique colourful print, paint and fabric artwork! Using her own simple technique of mono printing onto fabric and applying of blocks of colour with fabric and paper and other fun materials you can create a wall hanging or table place mat of your very own design!

CRAFT YOUR OWN FUNKY FABRIC JOURNAL! Time 11.30am - 1.00pm Ages 9 - 11 Venue Tourist Office, Banba Sq Tickets €7.00With Lynn’s guidance, using a simple technique of mono printing onto fabric, you will design and craft your very own journal cover. Layer printing with

blocks of colourful fabrics and simple hand stitching. The result is a lovely touchy feely journal you will want to bring everywhere (and show everyone!)

“Let it go, let it go, can’t hold it back anymore?” Then come along to a fun day of dance and learn choreographed routines to your favourite music from the hit movies “Frozen” and “Lego”. Urban Kicks Dance Instructor Dee Dempsey invites you “YES YOU” to join in the fun, so lets boogie! Please wear comfortable clothing and shoe wear for the Dance workshops!

A MUSICAL STORYTELLING ADVENTURE ON THE MUSIC GENERATION EXPRESS Time 10.30am - 12pm Ages 10+ Time 12.30pm - 1.30pm Ages 4 - 6 Time 2.30pm - 3.30pm Ages 7 - 9 Venue Music Generation Bus, Banba Square Tickets €10.00A double-decker bus has been converted to workshop and performance space. Expect lots of song, imagination, stories and laughter in this fun-filled interactive session. The musicians of Music Generation Limerick will lead participants in songwriting and musical games as well as using the bus’ bag of tricks, including Kazoos, drainpipe organ, bucket band, theremin and much more…

Venue Nenagh Arts Centre Tickets €7.00Guido and Ronaldo Fanzini, inspired by the mountains of Venice and the canals of the Italian Alps, present their new show Cannonball Circus. With no expense spared, with no concern for their safety, they laugh in the face of danger. They have torn up the budget and gave their accountant a good talking to in order to bring you an amazing variety of acts; dancing ladies, a motor bike wall of death, the flying trapeze and the world famous Moroccan chicken thieves. But what’s this; Ronaldo has spent the entire budget on a gargantuan cannon! There is no money left for the acts! The show must go on, but what will they do…..

LEGO BUILDS NENAGH CASTLETime 10am - 4pm Ages All Ages Venue Nenagh Arts Centre Tickets €2.00Join us at Nenagh Arts Centre to play, create and build some curious creations from LEGO as we transform the centre into a LEGO family zone. We’ll have over 20,000 LEGO bricks for you to build and create with. Can you replicate Nenagh Castle out of LEGO. Come down and join us on Thursday 30th to join in the fun.Drop in through out the day (Please note there may be waiting times)

SPUN: STORYTELLING, PUPPETRY AND PLAYTime 11am - 12.30pm Ages 4 - 6 Time 2pm - 4pm Ages 7 - 9Venue Nenagh Arts Centre Tickets €7.00Ciaran has an imaginary friend Piedva the spider. Come and listen to their adventures and sing along as they sail through the sea, fly through the sky and meet Flying Giraffes, Star Keepers and Wise Old Turtles. Then make your very own rod puppet inspired by the story to take home and hopefully bring on more adventures.

SCREENPRINT A LEGO INSPIRED POSTER!Venue Tourist Office, Banba Sq Tickets €5.00Carol Kennedy is an artist/printmaker based in Nenagh and a member of Limerick Printmakers. Carol will lead the screen printing workshops which will be inspired by Lego characters. Come along and join in some printing fun. Learn a new skill and create a silkscreen printed masterpiece to take home.

Time 10.00am - 11.30am Ages 10+ A fun hands on introduction to the process of basic screen printmaking and stencil making. Each participant will learn how to make a paper stencil and make their own print.

FANTASTIC FIREWORKS SPECTACULARTime 7.30pm Ages All Venue Éire Óg GAA Complex Tickets €2.00 per personHallowe’en is a special time in Nenagh, when the ghosts and ghouls come out to play. You and they are welcome to our annual fireworks spectacular. Come dressed up in your best Hallowe’en costume and make sure the family are suitably gruesome too.

This year as part of the nights entertainment, Spleodar also presents Shawbrook Youth Dance Touring Company. Shawbrook Youth Dance Touring Company has chosen 10 members from it’s main company SYD to perform at Spleodar. The dancers train in Shawbrook, an International center for dance in the Midlands. Watch out for the this short event in advance of the fireworks!
