ovobank, in its eagerness to guarantee quality and traceability of its work, has obtained the certificate ISO 9001: 2008 in integrated management of egg bank and sperm donor, audited by Bureau Veritas.

FIV Marbella, as ovobank‘s supporting center, has also been endorsed ISO 9001: 2008.

For transportation of samples we use DRY SHIPPERS containers, approved for land, air or sea transport of biological samples.

Legality

Both ovobank and FIV Marbella comply with the Spanish law of Assisted Reproduction 14/2006 and Royal Decree-Law 09/2014 regarding cells and tissues banks in quality system (both transpositions to the European national territory of the European directives 2004/23/CE 2006/17/CE and 2006/86/-CE, where collection, donation, testing, traceability, storage and distribution of donor gametes is regulated), having obtained the authorization as human egg bank by the Spanish health authorities.

Traceability - ovotracker

ovobank has created ovotracker, the first and only telematic system for the traceability applied to shipping of eggs and cells, for monitoring each of the stages through which an egg passes from leaving ovobank until it reaches the collaborating center, making it possible to know parameters such as tem-perature or GPS position of each batch.

The ovosafe application, by reading a QR code, fully guarantees the shipping process and minimizes human error.

The donors at ovobank are girls between 18 and 30 years, which enjoy of a good health both physically and psycho-logically and they are subjected to gyne-cological exams, serologic and genetic exhaustive.

Genetic MatchingGenetic Test Compatibility or Genetic Matching compares the genetic informa-tion of the donor and the partner of the recipient woman in order to avoid the transmission of genetic diseases autoso-mal recessive. This information will be compared selecting the suitable donor, I such a way that patient and donor do not share mutations in the same gene.

According to Spanish law, the only responsible of the donor-recipient matching is the clinical center; therefore, filling in the relevant questionnaires, ovobank makes a proposal which the center will be of accepting.

For the first time a complete traceability in the health sector is applied, representing a total innovation in this field.

Thanks to the ovosafe app, it is possible to know parameters such as temperature or GPS position of each batch fully automating the process and reducing human errors to a minimum.

ovotracker is a pioneering system creat-ed by D+I department for monitoring each of the stages through which an egg passes from request receipt at ovobank until it reaches its destination. In addi-tion, the collaboratoring center can place oocyte orders they require through the application and ovobank website, there-by speeding up the process.

ovobank's eggs undergo a whole process of verification checks before reaching the collaborating center and the recipient patient.

Is transport safe?

The batches oocytes are transport-ed in liquid nitrogen DRY SHI-PPER cryo-containers, specially designed for transport of cells and tissues, at -196. The oocytes are themselves classified using a system of rods and goblets, which is very easy to identify the bat-ches without harming their tem-perature conditions.

Will vitrified oocytes survive?

The survival rate of vitrified eggs / devitrified is close to 100%, so there is a high transfer rate as well as freezing of surplus embryos.

What does egg vitrification consist in?

Vitrification is the most efficient method of cryopreser-vation and has shown the highest rates in oocytes sur-vival up to date (up 92%). Is it so safe and simple that it can be performed in any Assisted Reproduction clinic.

Vitrification has revolutionized the world of Cryo-biology, allowing great success in cryopreserva-tion of oocytes and embryos.

Devitrification is simple and quick and you only need the devitrification kit and to strictly follow the protocol. If needed, some of our spe-cialized biologists can travel to the Collaborating Center to perform the devitrification of oocytes.

ovobank offers collaborating centers different egg batch types responding effectively to their needs, because in 24/48 hours they can count on them. We only ship vitrified oocytes in Metaphase II, after a very thorough quality screening to ensure optimal morphological quality.

Courier service / Air-terrestrial

A specialized courier company will be responsible of delivering the batches to the collaborating center within a maximum of 24 or 48 hours.

Air Lab2Lab

The batches are transported personally in the airplane cabin, avoiding having to put them throu-gh X-rays, from the laboratory to the ovobank collaborating center, with hand delivery by qualified personnel of ovobank.

Terrestrial Lab2Lab

In this modality of shipping the delivery is also made in hand by qualified personnel of ovo-bank, in this case by land.

ovobank uses special boxes to transport cells for their shipments, providing the Dry Shippers containers, in which the eggs are stored, with an added protection, homologated for this purpose. We perform different types of shipping, always adapted to the requirements of the collaborating centers:
