I cant exactly remember when the joke started, but som

between CLTC and now, my friends and I from around the c

started a joke that our group of friends had our own reality

Every summer program was a new season! every IC was a Valenti

special. Along the way, we lost some cast members, gained

to say that you wouldnt recognize the Brooke Saharovici t

saw in season 1 today would be an understatement.

From my cast mates, Ive learned how to become the ch

want to be. It may have taken me a trip to Wisconsin, D.C,

Pennsylvania, Dallas, and Israel, but I like to think that Iv

it kind of figured out. So now, Im going to share with you

Ive learned from season to season and hopefully you can t

a grain of salt and make it apply to your own series.

The friends I made during my 12 days in Wisconsin are the peo

mistakes with, cried with, and have grown up with. Had I not be

every sort of character that was casted on my show, I would no

person I am today. It is too easy to write someone off because th

your usual type of friend! challenge yourself and be open to every tindividual you may meet. Be nice, be yourself, and value every

can potentially build. Who knows, you might end up traveling the

    people you open up to.

    The off-season

Then there was the off-season. Post-CLTC I was on a BBYwas exactly what a post-CLTC participant was supposed t

planning my next summer program, running for chapter boafor hours on end with my cast mates I never thought Id missinitiative. From season 1, I learned to take the tools youre g

them. In other words, after CLTC, I was constantly askingmates what was working for them in their respective commu

bringing it back to my own. I was referencing the CLTC handis kinda lame of me since no one uses that thing but whatev

everything in between. This is not to say, though, that you ha

a summer program to utilize the wisdom and tools youre gwhat older members teach you, soak up what you hear from

speakers like Scott Fried, and make your own toolbox to yourself, your chapter, and the region.

    Season TWO: ILTC

Be respectful of the peopledifferent goals than you

I went into ILTC thinking that it would be just like CLTC! I could not habeen more wrong. At ILTC, I was introduced to the term politick

first time in a BBYO context and I really just didnt get it. How cbe doing BBYO for more than the good times and memories? Whpolitical aspect of BBYO, I would never attend a program just fogain. That being said, ILTC taught me that there will always be

BBYO who have differing goals and objectives from yours. Somea convention just for a hook up, or to gain votes in an upcoming

regional election, or may just be there to have fun. Regardless

motives, goals, and objectives, though, be respectful, and remempurpose in this organization.

Make your own decisiodraw your own conclusi

The following off-season, my time between the summer of 2

summer of 2014, was a whirlwind. I ran for regional board, g

confident, and lost. What I want you to take away from that e

however, is not the clich" post-election loss advice. Rather, I wanknow to keep an open mind about all candidates. Make your o

Draw your own conclusions, regardless of whether or not it c

what everyone around you is saying. Also recognize how abso

it is to stand up in front of a room of over 100 people with y

and dreams on the line. Be open and give em a break

Season three: ILsiDont let your series end on

To be honest, after the first half of my term on regional boartired. I didnt feel like I was getting the experience out of board that I had envisioned since I was a freshman. So, I c

head, and when I went on ILSI and finished my series wherewith my cast mates who had been there through it all. Throlowest of lows in my BBYO career, these people lifted me

could not have ended my four years on a better note. Which

advice is this: find the cast who sticks with you through it aBBYO with them. Too many people end BBYO on a sour ending it with the people who get you truly make it all woFor the cast that befriended me even when I was a freshma

lacked confidence and experience, I am forever gratef

3 seasons, 2 specials and a whole series later, I stand before my final remarks. While I found my comfort and insight wit

program experiences, I encourage everyone, no matter if freshman or senior, to do the same by your own means. It is ufind your haven within your chapter, region, order, friend grmuch as I would love to, I cannot do it for you. If you do noyour time in BBYO, write your series script into one youll

in ten years and be like, damn, no regrets. Share it with the byou can build, and leave an impact like Friends, How I Met

or Gossip Girl# one that is forever remembered and apprecia

Outside of my core cast, there were countless who helped mway. These people inspired me, kept me grounded, and remi

stay true to who I am. Nevertheless, I dedicate my past to Perlen, Emma Heaslet, Jordyn Shipowitz, Ariane Schaffer, H

Adam Scilken, Tyler Malkin, Brooke Rittenberg, Eva SchwKanter, Stephanie Seplow, Jeff Cahn, Ethan Cohen, Jacklin SPerlen, and Amanda Freedman. I dedicate my present to

Weintraub, Danny Noorily, Aaron Herschberg, Sam Finn, GGracie Hoffman, Jamie Kirshner, the Pearl seniors, and the 2girls regional board. I dedicate my future to the Pearl freshmGandler, Margo Shainberg, Itzik Sedek, Matthew Lazarov, a

    regional board.

To all who are listening or reading), remember to stay to yourself and write a script worth remembering. Fill

seasons with love, laughter, and friends that last.
