The new Protein G biosensors from FortéBio further expand the ben-efits of the Octet platform for la-bel-free protein quantitation. Im-munoglobulins from species such as rodents, goat or bovine are not suited for Protein A binding, same as F(ab) fragments due to the lacking Fc terminus. This gap is addressed by Protein G as latest addition to the Dip and Read® biosensors, and thus extending coverage in the rapidly growing demand for fast, accurate and easy quantification of antibodies or other proteins in bioprocessing.
In these laboratories the analytical capabilities of the Octet platform provide particular value, because existing methods such as HPLC, Nephelometry and ELISA show limi-tations in throughput, performance and reliability. The Octet platform allows researcher to determine protein concentration of up to 400 samples per hour, at the quality of HPLC and without the need for any labeling or washing steps.

FortéBio Inc.New Protein G Biosensor for the Octet Platform: Label-Free!
Bottlenecks in development and manufacturing of biotherapeutics are further reduced by FortéBio’s Dip and Read® Immunogenicity Assay Kit (high-sensitivity detec-tion of anti-drug antibodies) or Residual Protein A Assay Kit (Pro-tein A leakage during column pu-rification). Custom assay service is available at FortéBio for the indi-
vidual development of Host Cell Protein detection assays, but also for customized biosensors.
FortéBio’s Octet systems apply a label-free technology that ac-celerates the development of biotherapeutic and pharmaceu-tical products, by rapid measure-ments of binding affinities, bio-molecular interactions or protein concentrations. Different Octet models are available, covering the support of 96-well or 384-well detection, 8 to 16-channel simultaneous readout, biosen-sor regeneration and re-racking, as well as automation capabili-ties. The entire product line will provide life science researchers with unprecedented through-put, speed, flexibility and cost-efficiency.

Hamilton’s BioLevitator 3D Cell Culture SystemBioLevitator Now Offers Online pH Detection
Trinean’s new and unique DropPlate®96The First 96-well Microfluidic Plate for DROPLET UV/VIS Reading
Fig.: Online detection of media acidification during cell cul-ture as a function of changes in the OD560 value (absorption of phenol red).
The BioLevitator™ is a benchtop incubator and bioreactor hybrid for high density eukaryotic cell cultures. It utilizes the GEM™ mi-crocarrier technology for the at-tachment of cells taking adher-ent cell culture into suspension.
The BioLevitator can now be equipped with an additional module for pH measurement during culture expansion. The determination of pH is based on the color transition of the indica-tor phenol red.
BioLevitator™ Features
HD cell culture proven for a variety of adherent cell types, e.g. established cell lines as well as primary cells and stem cells
streamlined workflow and reduced hands-on time: easy media exchange, washing and harvesting of cells
elimination of manual working steps and periph-eral instruments like centri-fuges and incubators
absolutely reproducible growth conditions for con-sistent experiments
gentle culture conditions particularly suited for sensi-tive cells such as stem cells
Benefits of online pH measurement:
Media exchange on demand, not on schedule
Easy installation as a system upgrade

Trinean has developed a patent-ed compact multichannel spec-trophotometer that combines a simplified optical setup with im-portant advantages in terms of throughput, sensitivity and stabil-ity. The DropSense 96 is a novel generation multi-channel UV-VIS spectrophotometer suitable for high throughput spectral analy-sis of microliter samples of bio-molecules or small compounds. The patented technology is based on a multi-channel spec-trophotometer using microfluidic channels for sample storage and measurement.
Several versions: DropPlate 16-S and DropPlate 96-S channel are designed with a single cuvette of 0.5 mm path length for genomics applications where dsDNA is typi-cally measured in the range of 10 - 1200 ng/µl. 96 samples can be read in less than 5 minutes with Drop-Sense96®. When the sample con-centration is unknown or a broader range needs to be covered Drop-Plate 16-D and DropPlate 96-D’s unique dual path length design is your best choice. Either 1.5 µl high
concentrated sample or 3 ul sam-ple measuring the sample using both chambers.
All DropPlate designs are perfect-ly suitable for robotic handling and provide steady measuring conditions and enhanced re-producibility due to fixed path-lengths and elimination of sam-ple evaporation.

Essen BioScience Inc. CellPlayer™ 96-Well Cell Migration Assay
Making 96 perfect wound scratches has never been easier!
Essen BioScience Inc., a global provider of life science research tools and discovery services, to-day announced the launch of its CellPlayer™ Cell Migration 96-well assay kit for the IncuCyte™ Live-Cell Imaging System. The ex-panding line of kinetic CellPlayer assays for the IncuCyte also in-cludes a co-culture assay for An-giogenesis.
The CellPlayer Cell Migration 96-well assay offers a more pre-cise and reproducible label-free method for monitoring the key biological processes involved in cell migration. This kinetic assay features automated data col-lection over a period of hours or days and generates data sets that are optimal for studying
pharmacological agents and gene silencing technologies for this important function. The Cell-Player Cell Migration 96-well as-say is run on the Essen IncuCyte, a compact automated micro-scope that resides inside a stan-dard tissue culture incubator. The IncuCyte software automates the data collection process and provides the subsequent analy-sis for the cell migration assay which means your cells remain in the controlled environment for the duration of the experiment. Cell migration is a multistep pro-cess that is important to many biological and pathological pro-cesses such as embryonic de-velopment, angiogenesis, and tumor metastasis.
Place WoundMaker 96 (1) onto 96-Well Image-Lock Microplate (2).
Firmly and smoothly depress the black lever at the front of the WoundMaker. This will slide the 96 pins across the cell monolayer and create 96 perfect wounds...
In order to learn how the Cell-Player Cell Migration Assay can provide precise and reproduc-ible data for the study of cell mi-gration, please visit us at Ilmac.

Using truly touchless acoustic droplet ejection (ADE) technology, Echo liquid handlers de-liver more precise and more accu-rate results, en-abling miniatur-ization into higher density and lower well-volume mi-croplates.
The Echo systems use ADE to transfer any volume as low as 2.5 nL among 384- and 1536-well microplates, with any-well-to-any-well capability.
NEW Tools Enable Total Assay As-sembly on a Single Instrument
Labcyte has developed new acoustic droplet ejection pa-rameters that for the first time enable users to eject multiple fluid types on a single instrument. These fluids include common bi-ological buffers, protein and nu-cleic acid solutions, cell culture media, surfactants and DMSO.
All Echo systems come pre-cal-ibrated so that you can be pro-ductive right away. Switch fluid types instantly with a single mouse-click; no further adjust-ment is required to achieve the same superior precision and accuracy our users have come to expect from Echo liquid handlers.

NEW Echo® Qualified 1536-Well Low-Dead-Volume Source Microplate
The new Echo Qualified 1536 LDV source plate helps achieve lower dead volume (1 µl) and in-creased working volume (Range 1 - 5.5 µl). This new Plate is made from Cyclic Olefin Copolymer (COC) which makes it very rig-id and suitable for heat seal-
ing. Due to its superb acoustic properties the Echo Qualified 1536 LDV source plate also pro-vides up to 15% greater through-put than some other 1,536-well source plates.
Each lot of plates is tested to guarantee superior precision, accuracy and reliability for the demands of high-throughput liq-uid handling.
Echo Qualified 1536 LDV source plate design is conform to ANSI/SBS-1, -3 & -4 microplate stan-dard dimensions for footprint, outer flange and well locations.
