目中有人助緣多，口中有德福報多，

耳中清淨和諧多，心中有佛歡喜多。

人，有沒有來生

~ 星雲文集－迷悟之間 ~

有人說，人死如燈滅，一死百了，那有來

生？這是迷的斷滅見。

也有人說，人有

來生，一顆顆種子，

種到泥土裡，都會再

開花結果，會有來

生；人死以後，當然

還會再來做人，不會

改變──這也是迷的常見。

說人死了以後沒有來生的斷見，和說人死了

以後一定會做人的常見，都不是人生的真理；人

死不是如燈滅，人死也不一定是做人，隨著業報

因緣，

五趣流轉，六道輪回，行善的人間、天上，行惡

的地獄、惡鬼、畜生，這才是真實的人生。

一粒種子，播到土裡，在陽光、空氣、水分

等因緣具足下，就會生長、開花、結果，當然，

怎可說人死就沒有了？但是，從因到果，其中的

緣分也是很重要；如果只講因，抹去了最重要的

緣，這是最大的迷惑愚癡。

本來是高官厚爵，只因作奸犯科，鋃鐺入獄

為因，牢獄的生活待遇，連猪狗都不如，從現世

報看來，人的一生窮通壽夭，即使人生，也有天

堂地獄，所行所為，都能影響禍福和幸與不幸，

一切都能改變，何況來世時間有春、夏、秋、

冬，世界有成、住、壞、空，心念有生、住、

異、滅，人生有生、老、病、死。宇宙和人生，

甚至一切萬物都是環狀的，好像時辰一再向前

走，但是在十二小時中，它是走不完的。等於人

生，生也不是開始，死也不是結束，向前走，也

會回頭，不直線的。所謂「一江春水向東流。」

日出日落，去了會再來，都是在說明人有來生。

人有來生才有希望，但是也要有善緣，善緣善

報，這就是悟者的世界。

人都想知道未來，其實「欲知前世因，今生

受者是；欲知來世果，今生作者是。」欲知人有

沒有來生？因果循環，你可鑑古知今，你也可以

現在推想未來，當下悟道，就可以知道三世一

體、三千一念！

人有沒有來生？業，維繫了生命的過去、現

在、未來，「莫以為作惡，來生不報；莫以為行

善，來生不償。」其實「善有善報，惡有惡報，

不是不報，時辰未到。」

人類最大的愚痴，就是以為沒有來生，因為

人有隔陰之迷的關係，對未來沒有親眼看到，所

以不相信有來世。其實，空氣你也沒有看到，電

波你也沒有看到，甚至愛心也沒有

看到，但是，你能說沒有嗎？

基因可以改變人種品質，

善惡因緣可以改變人生未

來，人世間的迷悟，不可不慎！

Hsing Yun’s Ch’an Talk

Meditate On Stinky Urine Ch’an Master Ts’ung-yueh went to visit Ch’an Master Shou-chih. After they had chatted briefly, Master Shou-chih began to criticize Ts’ung-yueh, “Although you are the Head Monk of Tao-wu Shan, you talk just like a drunkard!”

Ts’ung-yueh turned red with embarrassment and replied, “Please be compassionate and teach me!”

Master Shou-chih asked him, “Have you ever gone to study with Ch’an Master Fa-ch’ang?”

“I have read his teachings and taken them to heart, so I did not go to sudy with him in person.”

Master Chou-chih asked again, “Did you go to study with Ch’an Master K’e-wen?”

Scornfully, Ts’ung-yueh replied, “K’e-wen? He is a crazy man! He drags around a rag that smells of stinky urine. He is no Ch’an Master!”

Master Shou-chih said solemnly, “Ch’an is right there! Go and meditate on stinky urine!”

Ts’ung-yueh took Master Shou-chih’s advice and went to study with Master ‘K’e-wen. He finally attained realization and returned to thank Master Shou-chih.

Master Shou-chih asked him, “What have you learned from Master K’e-wen?”

Ts’ung-yueh answered respectfully, “If it was not for your advice, my life would have been wasted. So I came back to say thank you!”

Master Shou-chih said, “Thank me for what? You should thank the stinky urine!”

Average people always make the mistake of judging others by their outward appearances. Where is Ch’an? Ch’an is not necessarily found in what appears to be pleasant or beautiful. The eye of wisdom can see Ch’an even in “a rag that smells of stinky urine.” This is why the lotus grows from the mud, while gold and precious stones are found to be embedded in rocks.

3 The endorsement and recommendation of all Buddhas in six directions, and their protection against retreating

In the Sutra, all Buddhas in the six directions, namely, in the east, south, west, north, nadir and zenith, each in their world, manifesting the vast, long tongue form covering trillions of worlds, these words are true. All beings should believe in the inconceivable virtues and merits of the Sutra, it is mindful and protected by all Buddhas. For example,

East - Buddha Akshobhya, Buddha Merudhvaja, Buddha Mahameru, Buddha Meruprabhasa, Buddha Sughosa.

South - Buddha Candrasuryapradipa, Buddha Yasahprabha, Buddha Maharciskamdha, Buddha Merupradipa, Buddha Anantavirya.

West - Buddha Amitayus, Buddha Amitaskamdha, Buddha Amitadhavajs, Buddha Mahaprabha, Buddha Maharasmiprabha, Buddha Maharatnaketu, Buddha Shuddharasmi.

North – Buddha Mahaciskamdha, Buddha Dumdubhisvaranirghosa, Buddha Dupradharsa, Buddha Asityasambhava, Buddha Jalemiprabha.

Nadir - Buddha Simha, Buddha Yasas, Buddha Yashaprabha, Buddha Dharma, Buddha Dharmadhvaja.

Zenith - Buddha Brahmaghosha, Buddha Nakshatraraja, Buddha Gamdhottama, Buddha Gamdhaprabhasa, Buddha Maharciskandha, Buddha Ratnakusumasampushpitagatra, Buddha Salendraraja, Buddha Ratnotpalashri, Buddha Sarvarthadarsha, Buddha Sumerukalpa.

It proves that the teaching of rebirth by reciting the Buddha’s name is true and real. It also reveals the benefits of reciting the Buddha’s name in the present life by the practitioners under the protection of all Buddhas.

4 The praise of the Buddha and his Supreme Dharma

When Sakyamuni Buddha praises the Buddhas in ten directions, the Buddhas in ten directions also praise Sakyamuni Buddha, who attained the fruit of Buddha in the Saha world of Five Turbidities. Moreover, the Buddha preaches this Dharma that is difficult for the sentient beings to believe, so it is a rare and worthy assembly. In praising the merits and virtues of the Buddha, the other Buddhas also express the merits and virtues of this Dharma.

佛誕節佛光山活動梵蒂岡教廷捎賀函單樞機祝圓滿

今年國定佛誕節佛光山擴大舉行活動，更展現跨宗教的和諧共生精神。梵蒂岡天主教教廷「宗教對談委

員會」主席樞機主教陶然與秘書大主教 Pier Luigi Celata，從海外傳來佛誕節賀函，賀函表示：「一年一度佛誕節即將到來，僅代表梵蒂岡教廷『宗教對談委員會』，向大家獻上誠摯祝福，願此佳節如同往

年，為全世界佛教徒帶來歡喜與祥和。佛誕節提供了一個天主教徒向佛教徒表達祝福的機會，藉此增長

彼此友誼，並透過友好關係讓佛教與天主教可以共同分享喜悅、希望與信仰的真諦。」向台灣佛教徒獻

上祝賀之意。

函中除了表達對所有佛教徒的友好、祝福之意，同時也提到，在這個時代，天主教徒與佛教徒除了要以

堅定的信仰為各自的教界謀福利，更要攜手為全人類的福祉來貢獻心力，一起為改善全球日益嚴重的貧

窮問題與不斷蔓延的消費主義而努力。

對此，單國璽樞機也有同感，他表示，宗教的存在是為了提升全體人類的福祉與和平，宗教不能因為教

義有別就對立或衝突，他強調「宗教之間不只要尊重，更要合作」，才能讓這個世界更美好。

對於將到來的「二○○九年國定佛誕節暨母親節慶祝大會」，單樞機說，他要向老朋友星雲大師表達問

候之意外，也祝福活動能圓滿順利，更希望前來共襄盛舉的每個人可以從活動中洗滌身心，心靈更加平

安喜樂。

活動預告國際佛光會芝加哥協會 6 月的『人間生活講座』邀請到張釗漢醫師於 6 月 6 日早 9:00 在芝加哥

禪淨中心演講。主講「疼痛醫療法」。歡迎大眾前來聆聽，了解自我保健之道。

7 月 4 日早 10:00 邀請佛光山前任住持心定和尚前來主持『佛光山芝加哥禪淨中心啟用暨甘露灌頂皈依典禮』。誠摯邀請大眾前來共襄盛舉。有意皈依者，請儘早向禪淨中心報名。

皈依的意義:（1）皈依不一定要吃素、受戒，只要堅持佛教信仰，不皈依外道天魔，依然可以祭

拜祖先、神明；（2）佛如光、法如水、僧如田，只要我們願意耕耘自己的心田，就不用怕沒有

成長、沒有未來；（3）修持並不難，每天只要撥出一點時間誦讀一卷《心經》或是念一篇祈願

文就可以了；（4）每天「做好事、說好話、存好心」，只要大家廣結善緣，就是大修行。

7 月 3 日晚 7:30 心定和尚將於芝加哥禪淨中心 7 月份的『人間生活講座』主講『情愛的發展』。心定和尚的演講幽默風趣，備受歡迎。歡迎大家把握聽法良機。

← 佛光山芝加哥禪淨中心在 5 月 3 日盛大舉行

浴佛法會及園遊會及開始為期二個月的佛像展

覽。法會當日春風和煦，佛光普照。四百餘位佳

賓帶著熱烈的心前來參加此一慶典。虔誠浴佛更

浴自心。浴佛後在大殿內可仔細觀賞瞭解各時

期，各地區，佛，菩薩的各種造型，其演變及代

表的意義。

→ 在戶外又有精采的表演，美味可口的素食小吃，更有醫療諮詢的服務。大家都覺得過了最有

意義的一天。 →

5 月 7 日晚，滿普法師及妙參法師率領數位佛光會員參加在瑞柏市基督教堂 (First Congregational Church, Naperville, IL) 舉行的“各宗教聯合祈禱大會“。佛光會員們身著整齊制服，朗誦心經，深穫好評。

今年的佛誕節活動殊勝妙德，更勝去年。為了感謝一百多位義工無私的奉獻，數星期來的辛勞，成就此一勝會，禪淨中心特於 5 月 9 日晚邀請所有義工回寺普茶。大家在歡喜餐會中分享在辦

此活動期間的法喜和提升道業的心路歷程。

5/10 上午，芝加哥禪淨中心監寺滿普法師及國際佛光會芝加哥協會會長黃于紋受邀代表道場參加越南友寺-光明寺的佛誕節慶祝法會，藉此活動為彼此建立友誼的互動，一方面也互相觀摩，

進一步了解芝加哥各族裔弘法現況。
