Highlights of the Performance

Wushu Performance

Wushu is a form of martial arts that traces back to ancient China where

there were needs for self-defence and military training. Now, it blends the

elements of performance and martial application. Wushu training

emphasizes on physical and character building of self-discipline, respect

and teamwork. Our Wushu School Team will be performing a series of

routines comprising 42-style 太极拳（Tai’ji Quan） and 太极剑 (Tai’ji Jian), 南刀 (Nan Dao), 南棍(Nan Gun) and a group weapon display, incorporating

their techniques with traditional weaponry.

Musical Performance

Act 1 : Commemorating Our Past

A group of Drama Club members goes on a learning journey to the Singapore

River. They are there to research on Singapore’s past to prepare for their

presentation for the school’s open house. Little do they know that they will travel

back in time to see Singapore’s five pioneers. They get to learn so much about

Singapore’s past through their personal encounters with them.

Act 2 : Celebrating Our Present

Having learnt about the history of Singapore, the children head back to school

where they have a short interaction with Mee Toh School Heritage Ambassadors

on the founding of Mee Toh School. They learn about the contributions of

Venerable Kong Hiap that lead to the founding of Mee Toh School.

Through their encounters, the children learn invaluable lessons and realise that

their encounters are not simply pure coincidences. These encounters are eye-

openers for these young-spirited children who manage to see the inextricable

link between the past, the present and the future of Singapore and Mee Toh

School.

Act 3 : Co-creating Our Future

The past contributions of Singapore’s pioneers have led to the growth and

success of the present Singapore. These successes result in the

co-creation of the outstanding and brilliant future that have been

envisioned. Likewise, the students see Venerable Sek Kong Hiap’s

contributions as the paramount to the school’s past and present successes,

which will ultimately lead to the co-creation of the future of Mee Tohians and

Singapore.
