In Thailand, people spend their New Year’s Day in April every year.

People call the beginning of their New Year “Songkran”. The word means “move” or “change place”, because it is the day when the sun changes its place. This takes places every year sometime between April 20 and April 18.

The Songkran Festival lasts four days. During the four days people do cleaning like Chinese. Young people pour water into the hands of their elders and parents to show their love. Of course they also cook different delicious food and get together to have parade in the streets.
