Can she excuse para flauta, guitarra y voz

Instrucciones Generales

transporte.
Flauta
Sonido de aire.
Mitad altura-mitad sonido de aire.
Golpe de llave con altura
4
Golpe de llave sin altura.
Sonido percusivo “quasi pizz”
Voz
Susurrado.
Mitad susurrado – mitad cantado.
Hablado.
Sonido “puro”.

respectivamente.

Instructions
The flute and the voice must be close to each other in the scenario. As far as possible,
they should melt their sonorities in a unique perceptive discourse, as though they were one
only instrument. The guitar must be away from the duo and, if possible, at least 2 or 3
meters behind it. Depending on the hall a minimal amplification of the instruments may be
advisable.
There are 26 actions of the duo flute/voice grouped in 3 groups of 8 actions each, plus
2 actions for the coda.
As said, the guitar acts independently from the duo; its part is spitted in 3 sectors
separated by a big fermata. It follows its own logic, regardless the duo part. In the guitar
score it is indicated the approximate spots (G1 – G2 – etc) where each action of the duo
should be performed. The waiting time indicated after each action of the duo is just
approximated –a guide to the players-, the real entries depends on the playing of the guitar
part, which is very free. The sound of the guitar should come from far away; it should be
barely audible and even could disappear at some moments.

Guitar
A guitar capo must be put in position 10th all along the piece.
Unless an explicit indication, the entire piece should be played using the part of the
string going from the guitar capo to the tastiera. The resulting pitches are indicated in the
superior stave. That stave is only a close approximation to the final resulting sound, it may
change form one guitar to another.
In the last 5 bars (the coda), the part of the string to be plucked is the one going
from the stopped position (with the left hand) to the guitar capo. Being the string so short,
the resulting pitches are behind recognition, they are very high and unstable (even at the
end the resulting sounds are practically percussive). The guitar player should NOT
emphasize the percussive character of this last part; on the contrary, musically speaking it
means a progressive dissolution of the sound of the guitar (as we understand it) into an
“attack without consequences”.
The indicated fingerings must NOT be changed by any means, so far the written
pitch, played with another fingering would produce a totally different resulting sound.
The pitches to be played in the part of the string going from the guitar capo to the
bridge are written with a white-rectangular head-note.
The guitar part has a strong improvisatory character. The player is free to introduce
rallentandos, rubatos, etc. where he or she considers appropriate. He or she may even take
slight different tempi for the gestures in eights and sixteenths.
In some guitars, it may be necessary to pull one or two millimeters out the left
bridge, in order to avoid parasite sounds during the performance.
The rectangular-white note head indicates that the pitch should be
played in the sector of the string going from the guitar capo to the
right bridge. In these cases the resulting sound is transposed to an
octave lower, as usual.
1 4 Sometimes, it is required that the sector of the string going from the
guitar capo to the left bridge of the guitar be played using the finger 4
(little finger) to stop the string and the finger one (index finger) to
pluck it.
im
Sometimes, it is required that the sector of the string going from the
guitar capo to the right bridge of the guitar be played using the finger
1 (index finger) to stop the string and the finger two (middle finger)
to pluck it. It is required to pluck with the middle finger of the right
hand, and not with the ring finger, because the resulting sound melts
better with the timbre of the left side of the string. For the same
reason, when the player performs an unstopped sound in the right
side of the string, it must pluck it close to the guitar capo.

Flute
Air sound
Half pitch-half air sound.
Key slap with pitch.
Key slap without pitch.
Percussive sound “quasi pizz”.
Tongue Ram.
Gradual transformation from a timbral quality to another.
Sung pitch. The horizontal square-bracket
indicates its duration in terms of time.
Occasionally, it is asked to perform glissandi until ¾ of tone up and down. In the case
of not reaching that distance, just perform the largest possible glissando.

Voice
Whispering.
Half whispering – half sung.
Spoken.
Flat singing (like a child), without vibrato and without any
projection of the voice.
Articulation of an isolated consonant
Sprechgesang and sprechgesang closer to spoken voice.

The other night
I saw a light!
A star as bright as day!
And even among
A maiden sung:
“By-by, baby, Lullay.”
This virgin clear
Who had no peer
Unto her son did say,
“I pray thee, son,
Grant me a boon
To sing by-by, Lullay.”
“Let child or man,
Whoever can
Be merry on this day,
And blessings bring…
So I shall sing
„By-by, baby, Lullay‟.”
