The installed Capacity by the end of 2015 was 1510GW , increased about
150GW compared to 2014, while the installed capacity of non-fossil energy
raised to 35% from 29% of 2011.
In 2015, 8 units connected to grid, and 6 units received the construction permits.
By 2015, the capacity of nuclear is ~1.6%, but NPPs provided the power ~2%.

1、Overview - Gen-III technology import and progress
2007, AP1000 technology was decided to be transferred and imported from WEC by
central government of China, and world’s first four AP1000 units were constructed in
Sanmen and Haiyang for the scale development of nuclear power.
The installation of Unit 1 of Sanmen and Haiyang were completed, and the tests are
undergoing. Now, the absorption and assimilation of the transferred technologies were
basically completed. And based on passive technology and previous experiences, R&D
platform for series passive models was established.

MSHIM to reduce the boron liquid radwaste, “Zero” crack of fuel cladding.
Process control: advanced process control philosophy like MSHIM

Manufacturing capability
Over 27 Billion RMB invested, with the manufacturing capability
of ~6 sets per year for Gen-III plants, the localization is >85%
Qualified supply chain established, including 105 domestic , 9
joint venture, and 23 overseas companies. Key equipment is
able to be domestically manufactured.
The manufacturing capability realized from Gen-II to Gen-III
through National Key Project.

RSA government is about to commence RFP(request for proposal)
ESKOM is the utility and operator of new built NPPs
2014-04, SNPTC, ICBC, and South Africa Standard Bank singed “Financing Frame Agreement for South
Africa Nuclear Power Plant”.
2014-04, SNPTC and NECSA signed “Nuclear Power Training and Cooperation Agreement in Beijing.
Up to now, 2 rounds of training program have carried out.

5、 Summary
Presently, China government efforts to promote Belt And
Road strategy, which aims to achieve common development with
all countries.
The CAP1400 development would promote China’s nuclear
power industry, including equipment manufacturing, test and
research, regulation review, etc., from Gen-II to Gen-III.
Therefore it can encourage the nuclear power export.
SNERDI has successful experiences for both import and
export.
CAP1400, CAP-S and the serial passive models are able to
support the world application of NPP.
