Chiedetemi perché scegliere il Verdura per trascorrere le feste natalizie e virisponderò senza alcuna esitazione.Penso infatti che non ci sia un luogo più suggestivo di questo, in cui tradizioni millenarie, un temperato inverno mediterraneo e un paesaggio senza pari donano un’atmosfera unica e irripetibile a un momento già intrinsecamentemagico come Capodanno.Questo è poi il posto in cui tutti i membri della famiglia possono regalarsi delleesperienze speciali. Ad esempio, i bambini possono dedicarsi a tutte le divertentiattività immaginate dal nostro Kids Club, tra animazione, giochi e speciali corsi di cucina, oltre naturalmente a vivere la gioia indimenticabile di trovare i propri doni sotto l’albero.

Ma il soggiorno al Verdura è una festa vera anche per gli adulti. Degustazioni,wine tastings di etichette locali, attività sportive per tutti i gusti e i livelli,esperienze Spa di profondo relax e rinnovamento, tornei e corsi di golf.

A proposito di esperienze imperdibili, non dimentico naturalmente la ricchezzadella tradizione gastronomica siciliana: per le feste il nostro Director of Food,il Maestro Fulvio Pierangelini preparerà infatti dei menu basati sui sapori intensi di questa terra, antiche ricette natalizie mediterranee realizzate con i prodotti biologici “a metro zero”, perché coltivati direttamente nella nostra azienda agricola.E infine: la Sicilia. Cosa posso dire di questa terra incantata, selvaggia e bellissimache non sia stato già raccontato in secoli e secoli di leggende e letteratura?Forse posso concentrarmi sulle occasioni di scoperta che offre il periodo delle feste, e dire dei presepi di Burgio e Caltabellotta e del fascino di Sciacca, o consigliare una visita ai siti Unesco  di Palermo, Agrigento e Selinunte, o suggerire la “Via del sale” che unisce Marsala a Trapani toccando la bellissimaErice e il famoso presepe vivente di Custonaci. Ma tutte queste sono esperienzeche solo i grandi scrittori sanno descrivere degnamente.E allora a me resta solo di invitarvi qui al Verdura per vivere in prima personatutta l’intensità della Sicilia e il tepore magico delle prossime feste.

NEW YEAR’S EVE IN SICILY

• Caltabellotta excursion: visit the live nativity scene, ricotta tasting in a rural farm. Distance: 30min, 22km

• Burgio excursion: a visit to the ancient bell factory, tour of churches with sand nativity made by local artists. Distance: 40min, 39km

• Visit Sciacca and its Medieval historical centre, with the Christmas market and the ceramic crèche. Distance: 15min, 15 km

• Val di Kam excursion (Sant’Angelo Muxaro): hiking in the famous area close to Agrigento. Distance: 1h 30min, 88 km

• Custonaci excursion: visit the live nativity scene, a prominent event in Sicily for the promotion of cultural traditions. Take this opportunity to visit the “Salty road” in the Trapani area, admire the extraction and production of local sea salt. Distance: 1h 45min, 127 km

• Erice visit with tasting of the famous cannolo by Grammatico pastry makers. Distance: 1h 40min, 134 km

• Palermo, Monrerale and Cefalù excursion: the Arab-Norman route, recognized as a World Heritage Site and included in the World Heritage List by UNESCO in July 2015. Distance: 60min, 88km

• The Valley of Temples in Agrigento, described by Greek poet Pindar as “the most beautiful city of mortals”: some of the best preserved ancient Greek buildings outside Greece itself. Take the opportunity to visit Favara and its Farm Cultural Park: an ambi tious project of urban architecture, that has transformed the run-down and semi-abandoned heart of the city into a modern art exhibition. • Sport activities: riding lessons at nearby riding stable, Go Kart race at Cattolica Eraclea racetrack.
