by pbeDa Bdh way After one semester, maybe one year, many colleget

students begin looking for an apartment that is located not on, but near, the c•mpus. Personally, I don't understand why this is so. By being

on campus one can male many new friends. This holds true, also, when living in the dorms. One student . co~mented that when living in an

apartment he had · so much . ft eedom. One bas all the freedom be could ask for when li~g in the dorm. No one sets hours, or when or how often to come and go. There are so many advantages to residing on campus.

·· Students can become better acquainted with teachers and administrators. and can more easily become involved

. - ..

in different athletic, academic, and personal interest clubs. ·

>,

By participating in events such as these one can gain personal satisfaction, and also acquire a greater , appreciation for the university. One, students complained about not being able to have

visitors of the opposite _sex in the dorm until a designated time. The dorms do have J!Ules and regu)ationa, but

• again they; are reasonable. The times these visitors ~ not aUoweilione time to get homework out of the ~ay or make new fJiends. ~ , Just becatfJe a member of the opposite sex cannot be in

the room all of the time doesn't mean one can never see that person. Before starting to count up all the -negative espocta of

living on calnpus, think about the poeitive things and how much more could be gained or expnieDeed.

The 1.98~~v_age football I camp&lgn got· underway . Saturday as the Savages hosted Cameron's Aggies and came out on the short end of the 13-0 final score.

Southeastern entered the game ranked 14th in the NAIA pre-season poll while the Aggies enjoyed the number two slot.

Oscar Wright took theopening kickoff at the Savage two-yard ·line and returned it' to -the 17 before being stopped by the Aggies. Unable to gain a first

down the Savages were forced to punt the ba11 to the Aggies, and put the defense unit on the field. The Agg]es took the ball

aU the way to the Savage 23-yard line before ~ettling for a field goal which missed the mark uad the Savage~ had dodged a bullet. . Again the Sav&pS were unable to mount a first

down drive and called on Dirk Dean to punt. . Nine plays later Aggie

Roosevelt Gamble st61Dped out the final yard of the first scoring drive. The Aggies had stormed 80 yards, piling up five first downs on the drive. Steve Daw100'1 extra

Dawson's punt carried into the end zone and the Savages led by QB Greg Neeee set up shop at the 20 yard marker.

~

The Sava,.s and Aggie& at that point played swap out as neither team could get the offense ill gear. . The only threat Of .ano-ther score came when Savages eaUed on Lance West to try a 48 yard field goal. That was blocked by Charles W asbington and time in the first baH expired with the- Aaiw on top, 7-0.
