    By shadow I mean the negative side ofthe personality, the sum of all those

    Anima and Animus

    The anima is a feminineimage in the male psyche

    animus is a male imagein the female psyche.

    The anima/animusrepresents the "true self"rather than the image wepresent to others and

    serves as the primarysource of communicationwith the collectiveunconscious.

    Persona The persona is how we

    present ourselves to theworld.

    "persona means "mask. represents all of the

    different social masks

    that we wear amongdifferent groups andsituations.

    It acts to shield the egofrom negative images.

    According to Jung, thepersona may appear indreams and take anumber of different forms.
