Paperless is defined as: not requiring paper because the

use of computers and other electric media to record, convey, and store data (Online Dictionary).

A paperless society is where computers and electric media are the primary sources of storing, conveying, and usage of information.

Ever since the new millennium began, technology has played a big part in our lives.

Since technology has made our fast paced lives even faster, many feel like a paperless society is the move to make.

It is easier to lose information electronically

than physically. “The idea that your computer’s applications

run somewhere in the "cloud” on someone else’s server accessed via the Internet. Instead of running program applications or storing data on your own computer, these functions are performed at remote servers which are connected to your computer through the Internet”

Staring at a computer screen for a long period

of time is unhealthy. The body's system of handling blood sugar

becomes less effective, increasing the risk of diabetes.

The body becomes less effective at breaking down "bad" fats, causing HDL cholesterol levels (the good cholesterol) to go down.

In today’s day and age, paper is being recycled (which is also

eco-friendly). It will cost less to replace a hard copy of something via paper

compared to information that is lost when a hard drive crashes.

Every ton of paper recycled saves more than 3.3 cubic yards of landfill space (Earth 911).

More than 37 percent of the fiber used to make new paper products in the United States comes from recycled sources (Earth 911).

Cost Efficient

If you recycle me, I will save trees so that

you can breathe!!

Some people can’t or won’t adjust well to a paperless society.

Mainly the elderly will have issues adjusting to technology.

How will the blind individuals adapt to this? Or those individuals who are handicapped,

how will they adjust to living in a paperless society?

Adjustments

All electronic software and hardware needs

proper maintenance in order to operate/work properly.

It is ALWAYS good to have a physical hard copy in case proof is needed for something.

If one wanted to get rid of confidentiality papers, shredding would be the best option.

Most of those who want to move to a paperless society are being selfish and are not taking the time to think about other people in society.
