Central DogmaYou buy a bunch of parts for a mountain bike, but don't know how to assemble it. So you go to the library and want to find a book about assembling bikes. The local library has a general library and several branch libraries. You go to the general library. This general library is the chromosome. You find a book in the library. This book is about bicycle assembly. Pages 50 to 52 are about mountain bike assembly. You only need to read these three pages to get all the information about assembling this car. These three pages are genes. This book is written in English, which has twenty-six letters. The English letters in this book are Nucleotide. The library has regulations that all books are not allowed to be borrowed, and you need to copy down the text you want to use. The act of copying is called transcription. You copy the contents of these three pages in handwriting (in the book is printed), the writing of individual letters is different from the original, but the infor-mation is the same. The thing you copied is called mRNA. You take the things you copied home and match the moun-tain bike parts with the instructions you copied. This is called translation. When assembling a bicycle, this process is done by you. When assembling a protein, this process is done by ribosomes and tRNA. Then you assemble the car, and the finished mountain bike is protein. It can play its role.

Of course, DNA, RNA and protein have more than one relationship. For example, a protein called Rev1 DNA polymerase can encode proteins. Cells use this new mechanism to replicate damaged DNA in the presence of carcinogens.

Every cell is like a computer, and our job is to write code for computers to help us achieve the desired range of vision. Most people have heard of Genetic Modification(GM). The subject of GM is based on genetic engineering, while synthetic biology has more innovative and modular thinking and methods than geneticengineering.

eco-friendly

If you look at the jeans you are wearing, they look very simple and inexpensive. But it comes at a huge cost to the ecology and the workers. Each tonne of jeans produced will produce 200 tonnes of waste water and toxic chemical waste, with a catastrophic impact on the environment. Many factories still usecorrosive and oxidizing chemicals to dye and sandblast jeans.

2020 SZU-China has designed an environmentally friendly and efficient system for jeans processing. Our system is divided into two parts, dyeing and aging. That's when our biological machines come into play!

For the dyeing, we chose gardenia blue, which is an edible safety pigment that geniposide reacts with an enzyme (a special protein) before reacting with an amino acid. This enzyme will be produced by our bacterial machine.

The second part deals with doing old work clothes. The idea is to make the jeans have a faded effect andachieve a sense of design and layering. We also use enzymes to solve this problem ! If you're interested, follow us!
