【HONOR LIST】 CONGRATS TO MA LIPING 8 STUDENTS IN 《洞庭杯》





On the evening of May 26th

, our Ma Liping Grade 8 students, 瓷姑，

陈爽，张家昀，and 任杰娜 participated in the 2017 Grand Theater comedy performance of

“Dongting Cup.” Students at ACS have participated in this performance competition for the past

three years and were met with bursts of laughter and roaring applause. This year’s show won

“Best Original” and “Audience Favorite.”

【OUR TEACHER】 MA LIPING GRADE 3- TEACHER BAI JING

Dear Students and Parents,

We are on our last lesson, but the work is not done yet. My first comment is on the third unit test;

we enumerated some of the mistakes in the exam. The class is the only one, but there are two

99% There is a 93%, four students range between 80-90%, and there are two students with

borderline grades. Please review your test scores, and ask yourself, can I do better? Have I really

tried my best?

At the same time, during the summer vacation do not forget to have the steps to complete the

summer vacation work to help set the basis for Grade 4. We also gave out awards for their final

paprers, and every student has received their favorite gift; we all sincerely congratulate you on

the successful completion of the Ma Liping Grade 3 Chinese learning! I hope you will continue





to make persistent efforts in the future!

The second lesson we had a rehearsal for the 6/11/2017 graduation ceremony. Today we sang

with an accompaniment so that it can lead everyone to perform together. About dress code--

Tops: All white shirts or t-shirts. Lower body: boys can wear long pants. Girls skirt, shoes do not

limit.

【WEEKLY STAR】 ACS VOLUNTEER- SELENA XIAO

Self-Introduction:

Hello everyone, I am Xiao Yajie. I am 16 years old and am in 10th grade at Wootton High

School. I am very honored to be the Weekly Star.

First of all, my passion is certainly of the most linguistic culture. I began attending Chinese

school every weekend at the age of 5. Time flies and I have persisted for 11 years, and I finally

graduated this month. The essence of Chinese culture has benefited me. Although I was born

here, I have not been to China. Although the Chinese culture is profound, I never understood it--

but I will continue to study hard. Last year I attended a very meaningful ceremony at the Venus

School. In addition, I have been learning Spanish for four years. In order to become fluent, I

became a Spanish school volunteer, to help first-year students learn. In the future, if I have the





opportunity, I will try more languages, like sign language, French, etc., in order to achieve my

vision to understand the world and culture.

Early on in life, I did not particularly like sports. However, last year, I finally found a thing I

like: taekwondo. I got the orange belt last week. I hope that I can persevere and earn a black belt.

I have other hobbies, like playing the piano and the clarinet and computer programming. I started

playing the piano at 5 and clarinet at 9. I am learning from games to start learning software

development necessary for a series of courses, and I would like to take this as my future main

direction。

Finally, a bit about my academic life. I participate in Chemathon where I attend chemistry

competitions each year at the University of Maryland in College Park; there are dozens of

schools that attend. This year, although we had two months of active preparation, we only got 4th

place. But we will work harder for the next year’s first place. I am also a member of the MHS.

The purpose of the meeting is to use the leisure time after lunch to help students understand the

concept of mathematics. I want to help others in future activities.

Summary of Interview:

Today’s interview is with our school volunteer, Selena Xiao. Selena is currently a sophomore at

Wootton High School, where she participates in a variety of activities. One of her main activities

is Chemathon, a club that competes with other teams from around the region. Her team made it

to fourth place at the University of Maryland’s competition! At our Chinese school, Selena helps
