There is a huge challenge of accessing sanitary towels by young women living in slum areas, currently worsened by the fires which gutted down 2 main slums

There are very few groups involving young women in sports as well.

Other challenges include; Lack of Income Congestion makes them not be able to access sanitaries and proper

sanitation Miss out on school for upto 7 days a month compared to male counterpart Forced to share toilets with men Do not have disposal for the used pads

“It will allow girls to

interact freely through

sports and openly share

their challenges to

willing supporters” -

Terry

“The girls fundraise for the sanitary

towels within their network. We will

offer to train them on professional

sports especially volleyball and

soccer. This will enhance awareness

to the community about their

challenges hence getting more

support” - Karanja

“This will be an

advocacy tool on the

need and proper use

of the sanitary towels

by the girls”- Jolene

“The Government in

conjunction with sanitary

towel distributors should

consider coming up with

sports tournaments to reach

out to the most needy girls in

the slums” - Rama

“Parents need to be informed about the importance of the initiative to allow and encourage their daughters to actively participate in the sports tournaments” - Janet
