    TIMEFORM 1-2-3

Sir Des Champs (FR) - Cristal Bonus (FR) - Solix (FR)

    TIMEFORM VIEW

An open contest in which Peddlers Cross would hold a leading chance if showing his best form, but his preparation seemingly hasn't gone smoothly and he could be worth opposing. Preferenceis for Sir Des Champs, who won here last year and has done nothing wrong over fences. CristalBonus may emerge as the biggest danger, with Solix also capable of getting into the places.

    TIMEFORM SAYS...

    Bold Sir Brian (IRE)

Useful hurdler and already even better over fences, completing hat-trick at up to 2m whenbeating Stopped Out by 22 lengths at Musselburgh last month. More needed in this company.

    Champion Court (IRE)

Useful novice hurdler last term (fourth in Spa Hurdle) and even better over fences, winning 21fGrade 2 at this course on New Year's Day by 1 lengths from Solix. Frame claims.

Cristal Bonus (FR)Joined current yard from Evan Williams before chase debut. Impressed with slick jumping intaking both starts around 2m, latest a Grade 2 at Kempton. Exciting prospect and needsrespecting.

    Duke Of Lucca (IRE)

Useful hurdler who has taken pretty well to fences. Jumping let him down in handicap here inJanuary but better when 13 lengths second to Cristal Bonus at Kempton latest. Plenty to find, though.

    For Non Stop (IRE)

Useful hurdler and even better over fences, pushing Al Ferof and Cue Card close before winningGrade 1 at Newbury by 2 lengths from Michael Flips, only doing what was required in front.Respected.

    Imperial Shabra (IRE)

Finally broke duck over fences when taking a 17f handicap at Stratford on Monday but flying toohigh in this company.

    Micheal Flips (IRE)

Developed into smart novice chaser, winning Ascot maiden and useful Taunton handicap (both19f). Just as good in defeat when 2 lengths second to For Non Stop in Grade 1 at Newbury lasttime.

    Peddlers Cross (IRE)

Runner-up in 2011 Champion Hurdle, and easy winner of first 2 chase starts at Bangor beforefinding Sprinter Sacre too strong at Kempton. Stable vibes could be better, but big chance if atbest.

    Red Tanber (IRE)

Most progressive chaser, winning 5 of last 6 starts in handicaps, showing near-useful form whengoing in again at Kelso recently. This looks too tough, however.

    Sir Des Champs (FR)

Unbeaten for this yard, landing the Martin Pipe here in 2011. Progressive in 3 chase starts and

stayed on strongly to beat Fists of Fury in 21f Leopardstown Grade 2 last time. Top-classprospect.

    Solix (FR)

Held his own in competitive handicap hurdles last season on arrival from France. Won 2 startsover fences and good 1 lengths second to Champion Court here (21f) on New Year's Day.Considered.

    Zaynar (FR)

Went with plenty of zest when landing Ascot Grade 2 in December. Temperamental, however, and unseated after trying to refuse latest (left Nick Williams after). Change of scenery needs torevive him.

    TIMEFORM 1-2-3

Our Father (IRE) - Cape Tribulation - Buena Vista (IRE)

    TIMEFORM VIEW

A typically open and competitive renewal, but Our Father stands out as the least-exposed runnerand, kept fresh for this since scoring at Ascot in December, is the selection. Stablemate BuenaVista, winner of the last two renewals, and Cape Tribulation head the list of dangers.

    TIMEFORM SAYS...

    Restless Harry

Game front-runner who is capable of very smart form, making winning return at Wetherby inOctober and resuming winning ways in Grade 2 Rendlesham Hurdle at Haydock last month.

    Ashkazar (FR)

Winner of C&D handicap in January 2011. Not got anywhere near that level in just 3 starts since, shaping as if amiss, and near 3-month break since last seen needs to have revived him.

    Our Father (IRE)

Showed pretty useful form in just 3 starts as novice last term and improved another chunk whenlanding 18-runner 2m Ascot handicap on return in December. Presumably been saved for thissince.

    Russian War (IRE)

Six-time hurdle winner last term at up to 3m. Disappointing over fences in September but morelike old self back hurdling here in October. Ran poorly later in month, though, and not seen since.

    Pettifour (IRE)

Smart staying hurdler who made cracking return to action when second here in November. Notbuilt on that since, however, only eighth in Warwick handicap last time. Headgear tried.

    Rick (FR)

Reliable 8-y-o who performed with credit again when 14 lengths third to Mourad in 21f Grade 2 atNavan last time. Career best needed to defy this handicap mark, though.

    Sergent Guib's (FR)

Hurdle winner in France who has shown much improved form when third at Punchestown on bothstarts for new yard, impressing with how he travelled latter occasion. Could have more to offer.

    Sir Kezbaah (IRE)

Ended last season in tremendous form, winning back-to-back handicaps at Exeter and over C&D.Shaped as if working way back to form both starts this term and likely to be spot on now.

    Cape Tribulation

Talented hurdler/chaser who shaped well when 21 lengths fourth to Grand Vision back overhurdles at Haydock last month, travelling well but left with lot to do. 3 lb lower here and one toconsider.

    Sonofvic (IRE)

Point winner, and 2 from 2 over hurdles in 2010/11. Highly encouraging second to Grands Cruson chase bow at Newbury but let down by jumping here next time. Interesting runner backhurdling.

    Pineau De Re (FR)

Consistent sort who landed a 2m Thurles minor event in October. Another good effort whenfourth in 3m Punchestown handicap last time and no reason he won't give running again.

    Catch Me (GER)

Pretty smart hurdler earlier in his career. Went with more encouragement than previously thisterm when staying-on fifth at Punchestown (3m) last month and potentially on a fair mark here.

    Buena Vista (IRE)

Has won this race for last 2 years, making all to beat Son Amix 4 lengths off 2 lb lower mark lastyear. Yet to show much this term but this presumably always been the plan and better expectednow.

    Across The Bay (IRE)

Good efforts when making frame in handicap hurdles on first 3 starts for current yard. Out ofdepth in Cleeve Hurdle here last time but no reason he won't go well back at this level.

    Houblon Des Obeaux (FR)

Relished step up to 3m when getting back to winning ways here on New Year's Day.Handicapper had his say, though, and does need to bounce back from poor effort at Haydock lasttime.

    Palace Jester

Has appreciated return to hurdling (after some bad experiences over fences) this term, winning atFfos Las and dead-heating at Chepstow (3m). Ran poorly in qualifier for this last time, though.

    Reindeer Dippin

Useful hurdler who landed 10-runner handicap over 3m at Haydock in January. Shaped as if stillin form in face of stiff task in Grade 2 over same C&D next time. Chance he's best in mud, though.

    Cantlow (IRE)

Useful novice last season who got career firmly back on track when second to Poungach in bigfield at Sandown in early December. Shaped as if amiss (not for first time) at Bangor only startsince.

    Kayf Aramis

Creditable efforts when twice runner-up in handicaps at this course prior to well held in Grade 2 atHaydock last time. Won this race in 2009 but probably playing for minor money at best.

    Barwell Bridge

Runner-up twice last season and good placed efforts both starts over hurdles this term. Return to3m will suit after run in jumpers' bumper last time, but others appeal as better handicapped.

    Thehillofuisneach (IRE)

One of the most progressive hurdlers around earlier in the season, winning 3 handicaps at up to25f. Disappointed last time upped in grade (heavy ground) but far too soon to write off.

    Prince Erik

Useful hurdler and got his act together over fences in 2010/11, landing a maiden at Sligo andminor event at Naas. Disappointing this season, however, including back over hurdles last 2starts.

    Scotsbrook Cloud

Most progressive for David Evans, winning 5 times over hurdles. Well held returning from anabsence in qualifier at Haydock last time, however, and hard to fancy here.

    Bellflower Boy (IRE)

Won 4 times in 2010/11 but left even those efforts behind with back-to-back wins at Warwick inDecember/January, scoring by 21 lengths second occasion. Yard enjoyed success at thismeeting before.

    TIMEFORM 1-2-3

Riverside Theatre - Great Endeavour (IRE) - Medermit (FR)

    TIMEFORM VIEW

A good renewal of the Ryanair, providing further evidence that the race is finding its feet as agenuine championship event. The form of the Ascot Chase, where Riverside Theatre andMedermit were miles clear of the rest, looks key, and the former is a confident selection. GreatEndeavour appeals most of those at longer odds.

    TIMEFORM SAYS...

    Albertas Run (IRE)

Three-time Festival winner, including last 2 runnings of this contest. Won Grade 2 at Aintree inOctober on return, but injury has kept him off since. Obvious claims if fully recovered.

    Captain Chris (IRE)

Last season's Arkle winner. Finished a creditable third behind Kauto Star and Long Run in theKing George, but ran no sort of race in Argento Chase here last time, jumping violently right.

    Forpadydeplasterer (IRE)

Without a win since the 2009 Arkle though has finished in the frame in all but one of his 12 startssince, beaten 11 lengths when fourth to Somersby in Grade 1 at Ascot last time.

    Great Endeavour (IRE)

Landed Festival Plate in 2010, and impressive winner of Paddy Power in November. Excuses forcouple of defeats since, and worth his place at the top table, for all he'll need a career best to win.

    Kalahari King (FR)

Never out of the frame in 4 visits to the Festival, and back to best when second to Albertas Run inthis contest last year. Pulled up in 2 of 3 starts since, however, and questions to answer now.

    Little Josh (IRE)

Won 2010 Paddy Power, and shaped well until stamina stretched in Argento Chase on belatedreturn. Race may have come too soon when flopping last time, but still plenty to prove at present.

    Medermit (FR)

Built on novice form when landing Haldon Gold Cup on return, and better form in defeat since, beaten 3 lengths by Riverside Theatre in Ascot Chase last time. Sound each-way claims basedon that.

    Noble Prince (GER)

Took the Jewson here in 2011, and has improved this term, second to Big Zeb at Navan andLeopardstown and to Blazing Tempo at Fairyhouse, all around 2m. Return to further will suit, andconsidered.

    Poquelin (FR)

Last 5 wins gained here, and ran respectably when chasing home The Giant Bolster in 21f Grade3 handicap in January. Only fourth in this in 2011, and place may be best he can hope for again.

    Realt Dubh (IRE)

Third in 2011 Arkle, and took Powers Gold Cup at Fairyhouse in April. Not seen since chasinghome Captain Chris at Punchestown in early-May, however. Engaged 3.20 CheltenhamWednesday.

    Riverside Theatre

Lightly-raced chaser who has won Ascot Chase on last 2 starts, beating Gauvain 10 lengths in2011 and Medermit 3 lengths on return last month, looking as good as ever. Bit in hand on form.

    Rubi Light (FR)

Good third in this last year, and as good as ever when making all in John Durkan at Punchestownand Red Mills Chase at Gowran on heavy ground this term. Not so easy dominating these, butrespected.

    Somersby (IRE)

Finally ended a frustrating run at top level when overhauling Finian's Rainbow at Ascot (17f) inJanuary in first-time cheekpieces. 2m looks his ideal trip these days, and solid place claims.

    Blazing Tempo (IRE)

Galway Plate heroine who has gone on to score twice in graded company since, her best effortcoming when beating Noble Prince at Fairyhouse in January. Bit more needed to bridge gap totop level.

Big Buck's (FR) - Oscar Whisky (IRE) - Dynaste (FR)

    TIMEFORM VIEW

There's no sense in opposing Big Buck's in his bid for a fourth success in this race, even if hemeets one in Oscar Whisky whose best form (albeit over shorter) isn't far off what the championcan offer. Dynaste and Smad Place could prove the best each-way alternatives.

    TIMEFORM SAYS...

    Big Buck's (FR)

The outstanding staying hurdler of recent years, unbeaten in 15 starts over timber in Britainincluding last 3 runnings of this contest. Latest success gained here in January in Cleeve Hurdle.

    Carlito Brigante (IRE)

Won Coral Cup at the 2011 Festival and good third in 3m Grade 1 at Punchestown in May. Notseen over hurdles since poor run in October, but fit from the Flat. Engaged 4.00 CheltenhamWednesday.

    Cross Kennon (IRE)

Developed into a very smart hurdler last year, finishing a credible fourth in this race. Back to bestafter an abortive spell chasing when second at Haydock last month and cheekpieces in placenow.

    Dynaste (FR)

Won Grade 3 handicap at Haydock on return. Has bumped into Big Buck's both starts since, acquitting himself well when second in Cleeve Hurdle in January, and sports a tongue strap thistime.

    Five Dream (FR)

Revitalised by a return to hurdles of late, although was merely picking up the pieces when secondto Big Buck's at Ascot in December, and well held when the pair reopposed in the Cleeve Hurdle.

    King Of The Night (GER)

Has improved this season, ready winner at Newton Abbot before easing to success in PertempsQualifier at Kempton in October. Soundly beaten in Grade 2 company since. NON RUNNER.

    Mikael D'Haguenet (FR)

Has gradually found his feet back over hurdles after disappointing novice chasing campaign, notching up a hat-trick, but came up short against stablemate Mourad in Grade 2 at Navan lasttime.

    Mourad (IRE)

Consistent since third in this race last year, beating Mikael d'Haguenet in Grade 2 at Navan lasttime. Put in his place by both Big Buck's and Dynaste in Cleeve Hurdle prior to that, though.

    Oscar Whisky (IRE)

Third in last year's Champion before taking Aintree Hurdle, and a 3-time winner over 2m here.Class not in doubt, but unsure to improve for 3m, and must do so to dethrone Big Buck's.

    Smad Place (FR)

Useful juvenile who was impressive when winning 19f handicap at Ascot on return, and improvedagain when an excellent second to Bourne over same C&D last month, shaping as if he wouldstay 3m.

    So Young (FR)

Excellent third to Flight Lieutenant in Neptune here in 2011, and has improved further this term, completing hat-trick in minor event at Navan last time. Not fully exposed as a stayer.

    Thousand Stars (FR)

Tough and reliable performer who won Grade 1s at Auteuil (3m) in June and Punchestown (2m)in November. No match for Hurricane Fly in Irish Champion last time, but place claims hard toknock.

    Voler La Vedette (IRE)

Tough mare who has looked better than ever this season, twice beating Mourad in Grade 1/2company up to 3m in December. Failed to settle when beaten by Zaidpour at Gowran last time.

TIMEFORM 1-2-3Salut Flo (FR) - Divers (FR) - Niceonefrankie

    TIMEFORM VIEW

Salut Flo is very well handicapped on the pick of his form, in the process of proving as muchwhen blundering his chance away in a competitive handicap here in December. He has clearlybeen kept fresh with the Festival in mind since and looks the one to side with. Divers andNiceonefrankie are others worthy of serious consideration.

    TIMEFORM SAYS...

    Tartak (FR)

Tongue tie helped last season, winning twice at the turn of the year. Well below best this season, however, leaving Tom George after latest outing, and little appeal here.

    Giorgio Quercus (FR)

Made up into smart chaser, following good reappearance second with victory in 21f minor event

at Haydock in January. More needed to defy this mark back in handicap but that's not out ofquestion.

    Rebel Du Maquis (FR)

Often front runner. Won first 2 races over fences in Britain and back on the up at Stratford in May.However, only mid-field in Galway Plate when last seen in July.

    Jack The Giant (IRE)

Very smart chaser but difficult to train in recent years. Shaped as if retaining ability in Ryanair at2010 Festival but well held at Aintree following month and not seen since.

    Hector's Choice (FR)

Has taken very well to chasing, making winning reappearance at Aintree. Solid placed efforts all 4starts since, stamina just stretched by 3m when chasing home Nacarat at Kempton last month.

    Notus De La Tour (FR)

Useful hurdler who hacked up in a couple of 2m novice chases this term. Good second to

Blackstairmountain at Leopardstown in December, but disappointing there last time andcheekpieces on now.

    Matuhi

Thrived in 2010/11 for David Pipe, bookending season with victories in handicap chases around2m. Back to form when third to Calgary Bay here in January, but this tougher still.

    Finger Onthe Pulse (IRE)

Inconsistent chaser who won 2m Listowel minor event in September. Put in his place in PaddyPower, though was still in touch when falling heavily 4 out back here since. Given time to get overthat.

    Crack Away Jack

High-class hurdler at best. Lightly raced of late, though in contention until mistake 3 out inhandicap chase here on debut for Paul Nicholls in November and not given hard time backhurdling since.

    Divers (FR)

Won novice handicap at last year's Festival and another fine effort when third in the PaddyPower. Sharpened up by a recent spin over hurdles and record here means he has to commandrespect.

    Holmwood Legend

Big success story over fences last season, winning this race. Not repeated that this term but didgo with more zest at Wincanton latest and this presumably been the target all along.

    Gilbarry (IRE)

Can finish weakly but still won Grade 2 novice chase at Ayr in April for Malcolm Jefferson. Letdown by jumping for new yard this season, headgear making no difference the last twice.

    Salut Flo (FR)

Good efforts both starts over fences in spring 2010 after joining this stable, but missed lastseason with injury. Shaped with promise on return in handicap chase here in December. Leadingclaims.

    Mad Moose (IRE)

Won novices at Worcester and Uttoxeter early in the season, but not been seeing his races outsince, including in valuable 21f handicap here in December. Ran poorly over hurdles last month.

    Charingworth (IRE)

Not always been reliable but scored over 2m at Wetherby in December and in process of showingimproved form when unseating 2 out at Ayr (2m) last time.

    Fine Parchment (IRE)

Three-time winner last season. Not quite as consistent this time round, though one of betterefforts when fourth to Aerial in valuable event at Newbury earlier this month.

    Gansey (IRE)

Shaped better than bare result when making frame both completed starts this term, but oftenfinds little when the chips are down and well beaten in this race last year.

    Schindler's Gold (IRE)

Improved for new yard when winning over fences at Market Rasen (handicap) and Worcester(novice) early this season. Out of form afterwards, though, and no encouragement on return inJanuary.

    Glam Gerry (IRE)

Strong traveller who made successful handicap debut in this sphere at Leopardstown (21f) inDecember, but let down by jumping prior to unseating at Gowran in January.

    Niceonefrankie

Much improved since sent chasing, gaining fourth win in 17f Newbury handicap 13 days ago. Stillfairly treated under a 5 lb penalty for that success, and one to consider back over a longer trip.

    The Cockney Mackem (IRE)

Bumper winner who has been placed on all 8 completed starts over obstacles, and tends to travelstrongly. Inability to land killer blow is becoming something of a concern, though.

    Radetsky March (IRE)

Done well back over hurdles, putting a couple of non-completions behind him when winning atFfos Las in December. Pulled up last time, though, and this looks tough on chasing return.

    Life Of a Luso (IRE)

Much improved for current stable, winning trio of handicaps in the summer. In frame on 4 of last 5chase starts, including here, and type to run well at long odds.

    Kilcrea Asla (IRE)

Generally quite consistent in lesser handicaps, running right up to best when runner-up atWincanton (21f) last month, but up against it from 3 lb out of the weights on this occasion.

Up The Beat - Gurtacrue (IRE) - Sunnyhillboy (IRE)

    TIMEFORM VIEW

A big weight has been no barrier to success in this and the unexposed Up The Beat looks to havea great chance after his excellent second at Punchestown. At the bottom of the handicapGurtacrue is interesting representing connections who won this 4 years ago with a similarlylightly-raced sort, while Sunnyhillboy continues to leave the impression he has a big handicapchase in him.

    TIMEFORM SAYS...

    Up The Beat

Different proposition over fences, winning Fairyhouse maiden before fine second to subsequentEider winner in 3m Punchestown handicap last month. Leading contender with more to come.

    Exmoor Ranger (IRE)

Made winning return in Grade 3 Ascot handicap in October despite trademark mistakes. Didn'tfire at Sandown next time and fell back at Ascot last month. Cheekpieces reached for.

    Sunnyhillboy (IRE)

Irregular heartbeat when backed off the boards in valuable handicap chase here in December.Eye-catching efforts over hurdles either side of that, though, and dangerous to dismiss.

    Swing Bill (FR)

Better than ever when winning amateur event over 3m here in November. Just as good whenplaced 2 of 3 starts since, and overall record here means he has to command respect.

    Faasel (IRE)

Not straightforward but runner-up in last 2 renewals of this race and gained first success in over 3years in Doncaster handicap last time. No surprise to see him in the thick of things again.

    Becauseicouldntsee (IRE)

Developed into a useful staying chaser a couple of years back. Lightly raced in more recent timesbut signs of retaining ability when second in Fairyhouse hurdle over inadequate 2m last time.

Mostly Bob (IRE)Seems to struggle for consistency but useful on his day, staying on well to land 3m chase hereon New Year's Day. Remains to be seen if he can back that up.

    Midnight Appeal

Not always foot perfect in jumping department but been progressive in last year, taking form upanother notch when scoring in blinkers at Sandown (3m) last month. Shortlisted.

    Benbane Head (USA)

Initially took well to fences, but jumping gradually got worse in competitive handicaps, and wentwith little zest back over hurdles last month.

    Start Me Up (IRE)

Off mark over fences in 3m Navan maiden in December. Good third both completed starts since, beaten under a length in Grade 2 novice latest. Up 5 lb as a result and improvement needed.

    Your Busy (IRE)

Improved over fences in first half of season, winning maiden at Galway in August and goodsecond next 2 starts (including here). Should be sharper for a recent spin over hurdles atFairyhouse.

    Adams Island (IRE)

Useful novice, winning twice over fences for Rebecca Curtis. Back to form for new yard last twice, fourth to On His Own in valuable 3m handicap at Gowran last time. Blinkers/tongue tie fitted.

    The Hollinwell

Useful staying chaser at best who warmed up for this with success in jumpers' bumper atSouthwell last month. Not entirely straightforward but stable always respected in these events.

    Summery Justice (IRE)

Hard to train, but successful on first 2 completed chase starts, and not discredited behind CappaBleu on return at Haydock in November. Yard going better now and not fully exposed.

    Be There In Five (IRE)

Won 3m Kempton novice last term before fine third in National Hunt Chase at this meeting.Wretched efforts since, though, and hard to be positive about even for these connections.

    Frontier Spirit (IRE)

Already much better over fences, winning pair of handicaps before Christmas. Creditable placedefforts both completed starts since, behind Brackloon High at Leicester (3m) latest.

    Brackloon High (IRE)

Progressive performer who booked his ticket for this when dead-heating at Leicester last month(10 lengths clear of Frontier Spirit). Stays and has even more to offer.

    Slippers Percy (IRE)

Won 3m maiden chase when trained in Ireland, but profile patchy over fences otherwise and veryhard to support after heavy defeat in veterans chase for new yard last month.

    Fredo (IRE)

Thorough stayer who was second to Hey Big Spender in the Classic Chase at Warwick inJanuary. Latest effort excused, but will do well to better last year's sixth in this now 2 lb higher.

    Piraya (FR)

Only win in Britain came over fences in February 2010, and consistency not his strong suit.Laboured display over hurdles last time and hard to warm to despite tumbling mark.

    Time For Spring (IRE)

Successful start over fences at Carlisle (2m) in October. Couple of fair efforts since, butconcerning to see jumping go to pot in cheekpieces at Sandown last time.

    Sona Sasta (IRE)

Held form over fences in the main (excuses last time) and second to Le Beau Bai off this mark atChepstow on return. Ran well at this meeting last year and interesting in first-time blinkers.

    Gurtacrue (IRE)

Jumped much better when winning 25f novice handicap at Wincanton in January. Open to furtherimprovement and connections won this in 2008 with similarly unexposed sort.

The Sawyer (BEL)Sure-footed front runner who goes well at Ascot. A while since he last won and asking a lot forhim to end the drought in this at twilight of his career.
