2008 Magnetic properties D 9000 Hydrothermal Synthesis and Magnetic Properties of MMn2O5 (M: La, Pr, Nd, Tb, Bi) and LaMn 2 O 5+δ . — The title compounds are hydrothermally synthesized from aqueous solutions of KMnO4, KOH, MnCl2, and M2O3 (M: La, Nd, Bi), or Tb4O7, or Pr6O11 (autoclave, 240 °C, 3 d) and characterized by powder XRD, SEM, XPS, and magnetic measurements. The excess oxygen (δ = 0.01—0.17) of LaMn2O5+δ is influ- enced by the alkalinity used in the hydrothermal synthesis. The compounds crystallize in the orthorhombic space group Pbam.
