Theology Roundtable Postponed Again

C hronicle of a Death Foretold by Gabriel García Márquez tells the story of the murder of

Santiago Nasar by the Vicario twins. The novella was based on real-life events that occurred to García Márquez’s godbrother.

The book explores the morality of the village’s collective responsibility in the murder of Santiago Nasar. Is anyone besides the two brothers responsible for Nasar’s death? Is anyone guilty? If so, how?

We will meet in the Community Room on Friday, September 11 at 9:15 a.m. Come and share your thoughts about the book. As always, our aim is to improve our understanding of our faith.

Dear Friends, Hoping and praying you all had an amazing 4th of July celebration and are settling in nicely to the summer holiday.

I’d like to send you an update regarding our recently reopened Church in this post-COVID time. As you know, our Mass schedule is back to normal, minus the Sunday evening 7:00 p.m. Mass. There is much work to be done before and after each Mass celebrated, and there is concern of not having enough volunteers for that Mass. But I assure that I will resume that Mass when we are up and running, hopefully very soon. This past Sunday I’ve noticed that we’ve been having some folks arrive at Mass late. This presents a huge problem, because each person who enters the Church needs to be counted and have their temperature taken electronically. I do hope that you can make every effort to arrive a little earlier than usual because of that.

Here are some things we’re going to do to make your worship more pleasant: 1. We will put out missalettes for your use. You may take them home and return to Mass with them each Sunday. But it is very important that you don’t leave them in the Church. If you’d like one, please take one and take it home. The current missalette runs through to Advent. There will be an envelope with each missalette requesting a free will offering. Please take just one per family. 2. Father Danny will be taking the lead to create a PDF document, or brochure of sorts, that will contain the readings, songs, Gloria, and Creed for each Sunday. This extra aid will be posted on our website. 3. This one is very exciting: We are going to explore the possibility of having our own app!!!! By downloading the app on your phone, tablet, or computer, you’ll be better networked and connected to the parish. It will include links to E-giving, readings, prayers, YouTube, calendars, communication tools for parishioners via cell phone texts and/or emails, and more. Let’s keep praying for each other, and know how much I look forward to praying with you on Sunday. Peace, blessings, and fraternal regards, Rev. Joseph A. D’Amico

Paz, bendiciones y saludos fraternos, Rev. Joseph A. D’Amico
