I am particularly excited to see that HT in Macau and Mainland China have progressed into the internship stage. We can read reports of these developments and internship site visits in this issue too. 轉眼間過了數月,協會的發展和活動依然目不睱給。本期會訊同樣報導了在大中華地區,包括澳門和國

內的多項園藝治療課程和會員工作坊(P13-21),如本港的《活動設計及應用於精神病康復者及智障人士工作

坊》和澳門的《水仙頭切割工作坊》。澳門和國內園藝治療亦踏入充滿挑戰性的實習階段,大家可以讀到

實習的開展情況,以及關於實習機構探訪與場地考察之報導。 香港老年人口日增,本會一直推動以園藝治

療服務長者,其努力最近再次獲得嘉許(P13)。而除了服務長者之外,園藝治療適用年齡層廣闊,僅舉二例,

可見於最近的兩個工作坊(P16),分別讓青年學子和家庭親子成員感受園藝之樂趣與療癒力量。

Time flies. HKATH is busy as usual. As in the previous newsletters, you can find in this issue including reports

of many HT courses and member workshops in the Greater China (P13-21). I am particularly excited to see that HT in

Macau and Mainland China have progressed into the internship stage. We can read reports of these developments and

internship site visits in this issue too. On the local arena, HKATH has been actively participating in elderly services,

and our efforts are once again appreciated – check out our three stars on P13. On P16 you can read about a recent

workshop for university students and another one targeting parents and kids. These are just a few examples showing

that horticultural therapy can serve a broad spectrum of ages.

The development of HT needs many talents from different areas. We have three new

consultants, Prof. Liu Haitao, Prof. Li Shuhua and Mr. Kim Hyoung Deug. You can learn

about them on P2. Another expert, Dr. Sin-Ae Park has kindly let us reprint a thesis

(P3-7) concerning cost-effectiveness evaluation of HT sites, an important but less studied

topic. In addition, two students of mine and also our partners in Mainland China, Caifan

and Coco have written about their encounters with HT (P7-12), both articles are highly

本會最近邀請了三位於園藝、園藝治療或景觀建築方面極具資歷的專家學者為本會顧問,其中劉海濤

先生現為華南農業大學林學與風景園林學院花卉系主任、副教授,兼任廣東省花卉協會理事、《花卉》雜誌

副主編;李樹華先生為北京清華大學建築學院景觀學系教授;而金炯得先生則是韓國資深註冊園藝治療師,

亦是去年園藝治療及治療性園景設計國際研討會中的主講嘉賓之一。

用生命影響生命 方彩帆 廣州市羊城社會工作服務中心社工

不久前初次聽聞“園藝治療”,更親身修習一個合共四天的課程。什麼是“園藝治療”呢?-無非就

是種種菜、施施肥之類的,何必浪費金錢去學這玩意?不少的人都會提出這樣的疑問吧?

“植物是有生命的,每個客觀存在的物品都有自己的生命價值”,當我第一次在課堂上聽到這句話的

時候有點震撼,因為想起在一次探訪中,一個服務對象指著陽臺的綠色植物對我說:“在家養養花對自己

性情的調整很有作用,可以舒緩我的心靈。”那一刻,我還沒有覺得植物原來有這麼大的魅力,足以為一

個常年在家呆著的殘疾人士帶來身心的滿足。修習這課程,才讓我感悟到植物的力量,以及“用生命影響

生命”的道理。

“用生命影響生命”是因為生命的存在給予我們更多的思考。栽培一株植物,如果其生長真的只是它

自己的功勞,可以一蹴而就的話,那麼我們就顯得渺小或是不重要了;正是因為植物生長的過程中,有頼

我們人類的照顧和支持,所以可以說,彼此是相互影響的。看著植物茁壯成長,會讓我們找到成就感,同

時也刺激我們思考,該如何更有力量和更加用心去照顧它們。

植物來自大自然,也跟隨著自然更替而變換。整個過程中,植物有多重經歷:在萌芽時期,猶如小孩

子,經歷破土而生;經過太陽、水分、泥土、空氣等等的滋養才能夠成長;成長期,同樣經歷“生病”的

風險:葉子變黃或是低頭,就是告訴我們需要給予多一點照顧;如果我們不及時關注,可能會經歷生命的

凋謝。因此,當我們與親手種植的植物相處時,就給我們最大的觸動,因為它一直都在我們的觀察和照料

下。植物也往往有著多重意義:在我們追求喜氣的時候,花就代表喜慶,代表愛意;在葬禮期間,花能夠

代表與死亡相關的情感,給予我們安慰;在外交的時候,植物就代表和平的象徵意義。

植物在我們生活中必不可少,如果人類對大自然不斷破壞,讓植物不再存在於我們的生活裏,那麼我

們的生命就像活著沒有水分一樣。幸好現在身邊仍有許多植物,有小有大:小到一顆還沒有萌芽的種子,

大到要幾個人才能環抱的大樹。上完這園藝治療課程,帶給我的不僅僅是知識,更多的是自己的反思和收

穫,讓自己明白植物給予我們的力量是多麼的強大,能夠跟隨人的一生,經歷生老病死。當我們與植物相

處時,它會帶給我們情緒上的舒緩,讓我們覺得舒服。它也會帶給我們多重感官上的刺激,包括味覺、視

覺、聽覺、嗅覺和觸覺。

四天的課程給予我太多的反思和啟發。學習過程中,我不單認識到植物自身的魅力,還學習到園藝活

動如何幫助有需要的人士。例如怎樣通過園藝治療活動,讓我們在開展活動中有針對性的改變特殊人群的

情況,如讓殘疾人士改善生活品質,提高他們在團體的自信心;增進長者的社交能力和興趣;讓青少年學

會減壓,開發新創意;促進家庭成員的關係等等。在學習期間,我們分組討論如何撰寫計畫、如何為不同

的服務對象選擇適合的植物、怎樣設計景觀圖、如何讓服務對象從植物中感知來滿足自己的需要等。園藝

治療的內涵真是豐富,或許這就是讓我們發現植物的生命會影響我們的生命的原因。

Every Life Influences Another

Not long ago when I enrolled in an intensive 4-day course in horticultural therapy, many people around me

looked doubtful and said things like “Isn’t it growing some vegetable, adding fertilizer from time to time, and so on...

why should one waste money on learning it?” So what is so special about horticultural therapy?

“Plants are living things. Everything that exists has its own meaning and purpose.” It struck me when I heard of

this saying in an HT lesson. I recalled that, once in a home visit, even when the client pointed to a plant on the

balcony and said “Growing flowers at home really puts me in a good mood. It lets me feel calm and peaceful.” I did

not quite understand how plants could bring satisfaction to a homebound, physically disabled person. It is only

through this course that I strongly realize the power of plants, and also the wisdom that “every life influences

another”.

“Every life influences another” because the existence of life gives us much to ponder. If we grow a plant but its

growth depends entirely on itself, then we humans are really insignificant. However, plants do need our care and

support in order to live well and flourish. So humans and plants in fact influence each other. When we see our plants

doing well, they bring us a sense of achievement. At the same time, they prompt us to think about yet better ways to

further improve their growth.

Plants come from nature and changes with nature. A plant experiences many stages during its life journey.

During sprouting it is like a child, it emerges through the soil, baths in sunshine, takes up plenty of water and air in

order to grow. As it matures, it may experience disease. Its leaves may turn yellow or droop down to signal for help. If

we do not attend promptly, then it may wither and experience the dying stage. When we put so much efforts into

plants we cultivate, they can often reward us with many touching moments. Plants have many symbolic meanings

too: flowers

can represent joy or love when we use them for celebration or festivals; or they can relate to our feelings and

emotions towards a funeral and give us comfort; or even as a symbol of peace when they are used in diplomatic

occasions.

Yes, we really cannot live without plants. If humans were to damage the natural environment ceaselessly until

one day no plants would exist with us, then we would be like living without water. I feel gratitude that at present

there are still many plants, ranging from small to large: as small as a tiny seed or as large as those giant trees. I also

feel lucky to have completed the horticultural therapy course. Not only has it taught me new knowledge, but also has

given me many opportunities for reflection. Now I understand and realize the power of plants. The power of those

that can accompany us through life and death. I also enjoy the company of plants that is always relaxing and often

sensory stimulating, and the latter may involve different kinds of senses: visual, hearing, smelling, tasting and

touching.

The 4-day course indeed has given me a lot to reflect on. I did not just discover the beauty and charms of plants.

I also learned how to make use of horticulture to help persons in need. For example, I learned how to incorporate HT

elements in our activities to change or improve conditions of specific groups of clients, such as to improve the quality

of life of physically disabled persons and to boost their confidence in social settings, to raise the elderly’s social skills

and their interest in social interactions, to help teenagers relieve stress and express their creativity, and to improve

family relationships, etc. During the course I also enjoyed the group discussions and writing a proposal together,

learned the choice of plants for different clients, how to design a healing landscape, and how to satisfy clients’ needs

through interaction with plants. There are many facets to horticultural therapy. This is probably how I come to

discover the reason that plants can influence our lives, and in so many positive ways!

紀念我與園藝治療結緣的兩年

2013 年 5 月全國助殘日,我與香港督導李先生共同受邀為東莞某鎮殘聯組織的社區殘障服務培訓授

課。這是我和李督導第一次見面,午餐時他有點神秘的跟我說:“我給你看個東西。”然後就在大書包裡面

翻出來了兩個毛茸茸、綠油油的節瓜,說:“你知道這兩個瓜是從哪裡來的嗎?”我一頭霧水,他繼續說:

“這是你們康就中心的學員們種的,我從去年開始引導張鵬社工開展園藝治療服務,你一定想不到現在已

經開花結果了!我要把這兩個瓜帶回香港給我太太看,讓她知道我在東莞督導做了什麼。”我當時覺得震

撼又詫異,震撼是因為我第一次見到一位香港督導會為了兩個節瓜而興奮不已,詫異的是我怎麼就不知道

張鵬做了這件事呢,園藝治療到底是什麼?

我特意和張鵬社工有一次詳談,讓他細細講述這兩個節瓜的來由。原來自從李督導向張鵬推薦了園藝

治療之後,張鵬就行動起來,申請經費並且開始著手修建屋頂種植園地。因為經費有限、場地有限,張鵬

帶著精神、智力障礙學員一點點的扛磚頭、扛水泥堆砌花池,扛泥土、找種子、買工具種植植物……前後

用了大半年才有了收穫。我問他園藝治療對學員最大的改變是什麼,他說在於身體和心理兩個部分,身體

強壯了、健康了,心理壓力得到了釋放,有自信心了,看到瓜果掛枝頭的時候,學員們特別開心。於是我

認為,這件事值得學,值得做,值得推廣。

同年 6 月底,在李督導的幫助下,我與香港園藝治療協會馮婉儀老師取得聯繫,親自去香港拜訪馮老

師。馮老師幫我安排了兩天的拜訪行程,我有機會跟著馮老師和香港註冊園藝治療師 Maia 近距離學習、

瞭解什麼是園藝治療。這次的拜訪讓我大開眼界,也對自己的想法深信不疑—我一定要將園藝治療這種服

務方法引進廣東,引進殘障人士社會服務領域。

到了 8 月底,我邀請馮老師在東莞長安康就開展了廣東第一期“園藝治療服務推廣會”,有數十名殘障

服務領域的社工、康復師、職業康復導師前來聽課,體會了園藝治療的魅力,各個躍躍欲試—這次推廣會

為我未來的決策奠定了基礎。 2013 年 11 月,我自費進修香港園藝治療協會在澳門舉辦的園藝治療初級

認證課程。經過半年的實習,在 2014 年 6 月,在香港園藝治療國際研討會上,我成為協會的註冊園藝治

療服務員。2014 年 3 月、8 月、12 月和 2015 年 1 月,我與馮老師合作,分別在東莞、深圳開設了 3 期園

藝治療初級認證課程和 1 期園藝治療中級認證課程,初級課程培訓學員 80 人,中級課程培訓學員 28 人,

這些同學中大部分都是殘障領域的工作人員,他們成為了在廣東殘障社會服務領域發展園藝治療服務的骨

幹力量,活躍在廣州、深圳、東莞、珠海、佛山等一線工作崗位。2015 年 3 月,我進修了園藝治療高級

認證課程並且通過考試,進入註冊園藝治療師實習階段,成為廣東首批通過高級考試的學員之一。

這段經歷使我的人生有了很大的變化,我做出了一個別人不能理解的決定—2014 年 6 月,我辭去了

安穩的事業單位編制,獨立創業,立志有生之年都將投身於殘障社會服務,推動專業服務的發展,提升殘

障人士的生活品質;推廣殘障領域園藝治療服務,並以此為依託發展精神、智力障礙人士公開就業。那麼,

園藝治療有何等魅力可以讓我做出這個決定呢?

第一,園藝治療讓我認識了生命的短暫。剛接觸園藝治療的時候,我跟 Maia 說,我覺得自己很難做

好園藝治療,因為在這之前的幾十年我幾乎種什麼死什麼,跟植物沒有緣分。Maia 告訴我,植物和人一

樣都會死,種死了再重新種就好了。這是我第一次聽到別人這樣談論生死,我開始意識到自己對自己是如

此放不開,那種逃避的心態,我開始學著接受自己做得不好的事,學習原諒自己,學習在有生之年盡量讓

自己活得有意義。

第二,園藝治療讓我感受到幸福。我從事殘障工作迄今接近 10 年,一直像一匹永遠停不下來的烈馬

往前沖,很少靜下來感受生活,感受親情和同事之情。在實習的過程中,必須接觸和照顧大量的植物,我

開始發現植物的魅力和美,我可以跟孩子一起在家裡搗騰植物幾個小時,也可以搬 26 升的培植土回家不

嫌累,還為了給植物找有機肥而養了一大缸金魚……我的手粗糙了,皮膚曬黑了,不再糾結於身材好不好、

衣服漂不漂亮,我的心放下了、慢下來了,觀察力和動手能力越來越強,笑容越來越多……這都是園藝治

療給我帶來的改變—我覺得自己真的越來越幸福!

第三,園藝治療讓我的家庭更融洽。當我開始在陽臺上種花種菜

的時候,我老媽是反對的,她覺得太麻煩。我小孩則是歡迎的,因為

他可以跟我一起玩泥巴、玩水、玩花盆,這些都是我以前沒有給他玩

過的,他開心極了。當我的陽臺花園越來越漂亮的時候,老媽的態度

也在改變,她經常一邊曬衣服一邊感歎:想不到我女兒也能把花種得

這麼好,真是看不出來!自從有了一陽臺的花花草草、一大缸金魚,

我們原來略顯清冷的家有了很多朝氣。還記得往年春節年花都是去花

市買,今年是我特意為老媽種的長壽花和比利時杜鵑,雖然都是很普

通的品種,但老媽愛不釋手,經常抱進她的臥室欣賞呢。

第四,園藝治療讓我的服務對象發生變化。近年來我一直服務精神、智力障礙人士(下稱為學員),

在中心裡推行園藝治療時,我們發現學員們的認知能力、手眼協調能力和自信心都有所提升,他們不僅認

識了很多植物,學習了很多種植方法;還學會使用園藝工具,掌握種植流程,參與播種、施肥、除草等訓

練;待果實成熟、開花結果的時候他們都特別高興,經常把自己的勞動成果帶回家給親人和鄰里分享。他

們經常讓我幫忙拍照,拍下他們和植物的照片,照片上都是笑臉!

曾經有朋友問我,為什麼要選擇園藝治療這樣一個冷門學科作為自己的創業基石去發展? 我想上面的

四點是我的答案,另外還有一點—園藝治療與其它治療手法不同,它的媒介是植物,植物是有生命的,如

同人是有生命,生命和生命會產生互動,馮老師經常說園藝治療是“用生命影響生命的科學”,這一點正是

植物本身的魅力,不同於其它治療手段,非常特別。我與園藝治療結緣剛剛兩年,也是我人生中非常重要

的兩年,我想用這篇小文章作為紀念,也為未來的很多年我與園藝治療緣定一生做一個紀念,讓更多的人

都來感受園藝治療的魅力吧。

My Two Years with Horticultural Therapy

On May 19, 2013, the Chinese National Day for Helping the Disabled, I was invited by a social welfare

organization in Dongguan to give a training lecture on community-based disability services. It was the first time I met

Mr. Lee in person, a social work supervisor from Hong Kong. During lunch he said to me, somewhat secretly, ‘Let me

show you something.’ and then he took out two green hairy gourds from his big backpack! To clear my confusion, he

explained, ‘These are grown by members of your own center. Last year I suggested your colleague Zhang Peng to

start a horticultural therapy program, and now it is beginning to blossom! I’ll bring these gourds back to Hong Kong

to let my wife know some results of my supervision.” I felt astonished that a gentleman from Hong Kong would

become so excited about two hairy gourds, and at the same time I was puzzled ― why I did not know that Zhang had

worked on such a program? What is horticultural therapy actually?

So I had a long conversation with Zhang for the stories of the hairy gourds. He told me that, as soon as Mr. Lee

recommended horticultural therapy to him, he immediately applied for funds and started to set up a roof garden.

Owing to limited resources, he had to do the construction work on their own. He led a group of mentally impaired

members to do everything from scratch, such as laying bricks and concrete to make flower beds, filling them with

soil, buying gardening tools, finding suitable seeds and planting them, etc. It took more than half a year to see their

first harvest. When I asked him how horticultural therapy benefited the members, he said there were both physical

and mental aspects. Physically they had become stronger and healthier, while on the mental side, they felt more

confident and less stressed. They were particularly happy at the sight of fruits and gourds from their plants. All these

suggest to me that horticultural therapy must be a worthy subject to study.

With the help of Mr. Lee, I got into contact with Connie at the end of June and she kindly arranged a two-day

study trip for me to Hong Kong, during which I had the chance to study closely with her and also Maia Tam, a

registered horticultural therapist from HKATH. It was indeed an eye-opening experience for me and confirmed my

belief on horticultural therapy. I decided to introduce HT to Guangdong, and to the service for disabled persons.

In August I invited Connie to be the Guest Instructor of the first Horticultural Therapy Promotional Workshop in

Dongguan. Dozens of social workers, rehabilitation professionals, occupational therapists attended the workshop. All

of them felt the charm of horticultural therapy and were eager to try. The success of this seminar laid the foundation

for my further decisions. In November, I went to Macau to complete the Foundational Certificate Course in

Horticultural Therapy, held by HKATH. After another half year of internship, I was certified as a horticultural therapy

facilitator in June 2014, in the 1st International Conference on Horticultural Therapy & Therapeutic Landscaping.

From March 2014 to January 2015, I cooperated with Connie to organize 3 foundational courses and 1 intermediate

course in Dongguan and Shenzhen. The foundational courses had 80 students while the intermediate course had 28,

with most students working in service sectors for disabled persons. They have become the major force in the

development of HT in serving the disabled community in Guangdong and are actively involved in front line positions

in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dongguan, Zhuhai and Foshan. In March 2015, I completed the advanced course and was

among the first Cantonese people to receive the advanced certificate. Now I am ready for the coming intensive

internship to entitle me to become a registered horticultural therapist.

My encounter with horticultural therapy is a life-changing experience to me. It has summoned me to make a

decision that seems incomprehensible to other people: I resigned from my secure full-time job to set up my own

business in June 2014, in order to dedicate my life to the service for the disabled and to develop professional services

in this area for improving the quality of life of the disabled; to promote horticultural therapy and use it as a foundation

to help mentally or intellectually disabled persons to find a career. So, what is so special about horticultural therapy

that caused me to make such a bold decision?

First of all, horticultural therapy reminds me of the temporariness of life. In the beginning when I studied

horticultural therapy, I told Maia that I found it too difficult, since I could not get along with plants I failed with

almost everything I grew throughout my life. However, she encouraged me and said that, plants die as people do, but

if a plant dies just grow another one. This was the first time I heard someone speaking of life and death in this way,

which made me aware of my tendency of not letting go and escaping from failure. Since then, I have learned to accept

things I do poorly, to forgive myself and to live as meaningful as possible.

A second reason is that horticultural therapy makes me happy and gives me a sense of well-being. I have been

working for disabled persons for near 10 years. Throughout these years I am like a galloping horse, seldom slow

down to enjoy life and feel the joy of togetherness, whether it is with my family or with my colleagues. During my

internship, I needed to get into contact with and take care of a lot of plants. I started to discover the charm and beauty

of plants. Now I can spend hours with my child on our plants, I can carry as much as 26L of potting soil to my house

without the slightest grumble. I even keep a large tank of goldfish just to get some organic fertilizer for the plants. My

hands have become rough, my skin darkened and I am no longer concerned whether I have a good body shape or

dress fashionably. I can let go of many things and slow down to observe or to participate attentively, and I smile more

and more... all these changes come from horticultural therapy. I really feel happier every day!

Thirdly, horticultural therapy even brings more harmony to my family. When I began growing flowers and

vegetables in our balcony, my child embraced the new experience, as he could play with soil and water and the pots

with me. All these novel things are great fun for him! On the contrary, my mother disapproved of my growing

adventure as she considered it kind of a trouble I created for myself. However, when our balcony garden looks better

and better each day, her attitude gradually changes. Now, when she goes to the balcony for hanging clothes, she often

makes a comment like “I can’t imagine my daughter being so good at growing!” A balcony with plenty of plants and

many goldfish have indeed brightened up our house. Another positive experience happened during the Chinese New

Year, when we usually buy already-grown flowers for celebration. This New Year I had grown myself Kalanchoe

(also locally called Longevity Flower) and hybrid Rhododendron specially for my mother. She loved them so much

that she often brought the plants into her bedroom to enjoy the view of them better.

Last but not the least, horticultural therapy has brought many positive changes to my clients. Since I have

adopted horticultural therapy to help mentally or intellectually disabled members in our center, we find that their

cognitive ability, hand-eye coordination and confidence have improved. They have learned how to use different

gardening tools and the general procedure of growing, such as sowing, fertilizing, and weeding. They are happy to

wait for the fruits to ripen and more so when it is time to harvest, and they often bring back those results of hard work

to share with their families and neighbors. It is a great pleasure for me to take photos of them with their plants, which

always show the most sincere and innocent smiles.

A friend once asked why I have chosen horticultural therapy, a new and unknown area to start my own business.

The above reasons will be my answer. But there is one more reason, the medium with which horticultural therapy

works and which makes it stand out from other therapies: plants. Plants are living things like human, and living things

can interact with each other. Connie always describes horticultural therapy as a science of using one’s life to affect

another. This is only possible with plants as its very special medium. Now I have ventured into the world of

horticultural therapy for two years, I would like to take this article as a memorial to these very important years in my

life, and hope that it will enable more people to feel the charm of horticultural therapy.

活動設計及應用於精神病康復者及智障人士工作坊

了解服務對象對於一個園藝治療實習生而言,其重要性不容忽視。2015 年 5 月 28 日,一個炎熱的

初夏黃昏,120 位會員齊集在聖雅各福群會賽馬會社會服務大樓的活動室,出席一個工作坊,為的就是要

認識,針對精神病康復者及智障人士,如何設計合適的園藝活動方案,迎合其需要,以達至治療效果。

講者莫艷萍女士(Ide)是註冊園藝治療師及資深職業治療師,她為大家作了有系統而詳細的解說和分

析。她指出,要服務精神病康復者,首先要對精神病有基本的認識。精神病是一種腦部功能不能穩定下來

的疾病,使病人的情緒、思想或行為出現暫時或長期的障礙。精神病患者並非所有行為或所有時間都陷於

病態反應中,只是某些觀點或行為與現實脫節,影響了他們的判斷力和適應壓力之能力。至於智障,則是

指一個人在成長期間,對比同年齡人士而言,智能及生活技能、社區適應能力都明顯地較低。

Ide 以生動活潑的手法介紹園藝治療活動設計要點,而在活動分析技巧 (Activity Analysis)方面,她除

了分享實例,也講授自己的種種心得。工作坊一眾參加者都覺得獲益良多,事後不少會員更於 Facebook

上給予非常正面的評價呢。

In the evening of May 28, 2015, there was a workshop for 120 HKATH members held at St. James Settlement

JCC Social Service Building. The purpose of this workshop was to enable members to recognize and understand

ex-mentally ill persons and mentally retarded persons, and learn how to design suitable HT activities to meet their

needs and to achieve therapeutic effects.

Our speaker, Ms. Ide Mok is a registered horticultural therapist as well as an experienced occupational therapist.

She gave us a systematic introduction to the characteristics and differences of mentally ill persons and mentally

retarded persons. We learned that, in order to serve mentally ill persons, we must first have a basic understanding of

them. Mental illness is a disease causing unstable functioning of the brain, which brings temporary or long-term

obstacles to the client’s mood, thinking or behavior. Some of their views or behaviors may lose touch with reality, and

their judgment and adaptation to stress are often affected. On the other hand, mentally retarded persons are persons

with intellectual disabilities during growth, and compared to the same age groups, their intelligence and life skills,

adaptation to community life are significantly lower.

Ide had given us a systematic and detailed explanation on horticultural therapy activities design and activity

analysis. She discussed many examples of activities and shared a lot of her knowledge and experiences. We all

learned a great lesson from this workshop and many members responded very positively on Facebook too.

一個美好有趣的工作坊

2015 年 3 月 26 日,星期四晚上,在聖雅各福群會禮堂舉行了「扶

抱和輔助使用助行器具」工作坊。在工作坊中,職業治療師金駿業先

生和梁兆邦先生解釋了服務對象的需要與身體障礙,尤其當他們在園

藝活動中作出伸展、移動和轉向的動作時;讓我們了解到,我們要提

高這方面的知識和技能,才可以配合服務對象的需要,使他們安全和

舒適地進行活動。兩位講者也做了介紹和示範,如何扶抱和使用助行

器具;而這次工作坊最特別和有趣之處,正是邀請參加者出來練習如

何操作一輛輪椅,這也是我的第一次經驗呢!在活動設計和應用

方面,講者指出需要考慮服務對象的身體狀況,避免過勞,還要選擇 兩位講者示範扶抱

26 March 2015, Thursday, 7:00 -9:30 pm, there was a wonderful and interesting workshop in St James Hall.

During the workshop, speakers Mr. Michael Kam and Mr. Leung Siu Bon, both being occupational therapists,

explained to HKATH members the needs of clients with physical impairment when they perform stretching, moving

or turning actions during gardening activities. We recognize that we should improve our knowledge and skills if we

want to meet the need of those clients, to help them enjoy HT activities safely and comfortably. The speakers also

demonstrated how to lift clients from wheelchairs and help clients who use walking aids. One of the most interesting

moments came when participants were invited to practice using a wheelchair. This was my first experience too! It

helped us gain more understanding about clients using wheelchairs. The speakers also discussed on activities design

and applications, and informed us on the importance of considering the physical conditions of the clients, avoiding

fatigue and selecting the appropriate environment, clothing and tools. Thanks to HKATH for introducing us to such a

worthy topic. We also appreciated very much the speakers and volunteers for their efforts that brought us such a

fruitful evening.

輕輕小壓花 帶走大壓力 Lessening Our Stress with Pressed Flowers

香港城市大學多年來都有舉辦「精神健康周」,一連

多天通過不同活動來提昇同學對精神健康的關注。今年

2 月 10 日,校方邀請了本會馮婉儀會長主持《心花盛放

-園藝治療工作坊》,藉著壓花活動讓參加者感受植物

的療癒力量。

Health Week to raise students’ awareness of mental health.

This year Connie was invited to lead an HT workshop on

February 10. The students and university staff took part in

hands-on activities using pressed flowers, which certainly let

them feel the healing and relaxing power of plants.

During the Easter holidays this year, a series of parent-child workshops were held at Metro City Plaza at

Tseung Kwan O, with HKATH as one of the participating organizations. June Lau (RHT) attended the opening

ceremony on March 22 and gave the audience a brief introduction to horticultural therapy. Priscilla Wong and Jeannie

Chan, two famous actresses hosting the ceremony, happily took part in the planting activity. Maia Tam (RHT) also

led 2 workshops on April 4 and let parents and kids enjoy the fun of growing in small pots.

In Mainland China, HT internship sites and interns have been matched successfully and the first internship group

has started in May. HKATH members in China have also been informed through email of helper opportunities for

May-July 2015. Let’s strive together for the integration of HT theory and practice and consolidating our professional

skills!

深圳園藝治療中級證書課程 Shenzhen HT Intermediate Certificate Course

今年 1 月 3-4 日,協會於深圳舉辦了園藝治療中級證書

課程。除了 Connie 之外,Maia、Soo 和梁健恒先生(HTF 及

國內合作夥伴)亦有參與授課。課程中有不同的園藝活動,

其中的壓花畫製作便讓同學大顯身手和創意,製成品亦成為

課程的美麗紀念品。

During the Guangzhou teaching trip in March, Connie visited 2 potential HT internship sites, Guangzhou Brain

Hospital and its nearby Jiangcun branch, with Maia, Jianheng and another partner, Mr. Liu Menghua,

Secretary-general of Guangzhou Jiakang Social Work Service Centre. They also met with hospital representatives to

discuss arrangements related to internship.

2015年紫荊科技文化節 2015 Bauhinia Festival, Horticulture Expo

自 2012 年起,廣州著名的華南農業大學每年 3 至 4 月都會舉辦「紫荊科技文化節」,展示學生的科技風

采與校園紫荊花美景,吸引數以萬計的遊人到校觀賞。 廣州的園藝治療同學於今年文化節的「園藝博覽會」

展區內,合力派發介紹園藝治療與香港園藝治療協會的單張和小冊,希望讓更多國內朋友認識園藝治療。

Every year since 2012, South China Agricultural University in Guangzhou organizes a month-long Bauhinia

Festival to let visitors enjoy the beauty of their campus and learn about the university. This year, the festival included

a Horticulture Expo and local HT students had helped to give away information booklets and pamphlets for

horticultural therapy and HKATH. We all wish HT to be blooming like the splendid bauhinia flowers!

園藝治療開學生心窗 藉種植談人生 釋壓紓困擾

【明報專訊】近年不少學校在校園內提供地方讓師生體驗耕種,栽花種草除了可令人心情愉快,也可配合園藝治

療,讓學生通過種植和小組分享,提升責任感和學習如何面對失敗等。有大專生透過這渠道表達內心困擾,亦有

自閉症學生逐漸主動與同學交流,最終更將收成與老師分享。

有逾 15 年經驗、在美國園藝治療協會註冊的香港園藝治療師協會會長馮婉儀解釋,園藝治療「以人為本」,

在專業註冊園藝治療師指導下,服務對象可在小組分享中從討論種植困難,延伸至說出個人困擾,從而釋放壓

力,達到治療效果。香港園藝治療師協會近年累積為近20間中小學提供園藝治療服務,當中有4間屬恆常接受服

務,參與的學生每學期共作 8 至 12 次分享。該會亦進入大學,每學期舉辦 2 至 3 次工作坊,讓參與者減壓。

20 中小學曾接受服務

馮舉例,曾有治療以製作押花畫(用花卉創作工藝品)的方式讓參與者訴說心聲。有大專女學生在作品放上

3 種顏色的鮮花,鮮色代表自己童年無憂無慮,灰色表達目前對前途感迷茫,「當對方將問題說出來時,其實已

踏出解決問題的第一步」。

學克服困難面對失敗

馮婉儀說,栽種是一種良好教材,除了有收成時有滿足感,種植工序多,對提升專注力有顯著效果,還可提

升責任感;種植失敗時,亦可學習如何克服困難再接再厲。

自閉生變主動 作物送老師

馮說,曾有自閉症小三生上堂時專注力嚴重不足,鮮與同學交流,但參與園藝治療後卻分外專注栽種,更開

始主動跟同學交流種植心得,最後還將種出來的櫻桃蘿蔔送給班主任,校方反映如此情况之前從未遇見,證明其

個人成長有進步。

自 2011 年經協會註冊的本港園藝治療師有 24 人,一般需讀兩至三年相關課程兼實習才可註冊。

仁濟醫院王華湘中學要求中一至中五學生每班都栽種一盆盆栽,由教師評核成果。負責該計劃的周老師稱,

起初部分學生沒理會植物,至植物垂死才向她求救,但終 在救亡過程中明白處事要有責任感、持之以恆。她又

告訴學生,要按不同植物的需要照顧,期望培養學生體察他人需要、關愛別人的態度。
