Recipe for Christmas All Year LongTake a heap of child-like wonder
That opens up our eyesTo the unexpected gifts in life—
Each day a sweet surprise. Mix in fond appreciation
For the people whom we know; Like festive Christmas candles, Each one has a special glow.
Add some giggles and some laughter, A dash of Christmas food,
(Amazing how a piece of pie Improves our attitude!)
Stir it all with human kindness;Wrap it up in love and peace, Decorate with optimism, and
Our joy will never cease. If we use this healthy recipe,
We know we will remember To be in the Christmas spirit, Even when it's not December.

We all know how people celebrate Halloween, but how do people celebrate Christmas?
Damian Velasco Correa
Everybody knows what Christmas is all about. The Catholic worldcelebrates the birth of Jesus and in many countries it is celebrated indifferent ways. For instance in Mexico it is celebrated with Piñatas butnot so in any other Latin American countries. The celebrations aredifferent: from Pastorals, dances, dinners and school programs such asChristmas programs. Gifts are exchanged among friends and familyfrom very expensive to small tokens of love and friendship. The storesmake a big business out of this celebration; it is a very profitable
opportunity for their sales because almost everybody wants to buysomething for someone especial. Many people make their ownhandmade gifts such as gloves, caps, blouses and scarves. If someonegives you something made by hand, it is considered a great gift.Christmas is the season for love, and forgiveness.

The independence of Cartagena was a process that lasted around 10 years and was declared in November 11th 1811 where thedeclaration of independence as the province of Cartagena was signed, making Cartagena the first Colombian city to be free from theSpanish kingdom and the second city of South America after Caracas in Venezuela. As we can see, all the important places in Cartagena remain the same as the colonial period to tell the people how strong and old thiscity is.
Cartagena, a magical place, the city with the most relevant history in Colombia is full of contrasts. Social issues like prostitution orinsecurity, sexual tourism and other important problems are happening and the government is responsible for the future of this
beautiful city.
As a Colombian I appreciate the beauty of Cartagena, the music festival, and all the events that enrich our culture. But please do notforget the problems and the help that people in Cartagena need.
Cartagena is probably the most famous city of Colombia around the world. Its beaches, the old city, its castle and all the mystic environments of the streets ofCartagena makes this place magic.
Nowadays Cartagena receives the majority of the tourists that visit Colombiaand especially in November is the center of attention because the National
beauty contest takes place, usually in the fanciest hotel of the city. But a bigquestion surrounds my head- Do the people know how important this city wasfor the Colombian people and our freedom?Well I think with all these activities the people can forget the independence ofthis city and the important historical events that took place in Cartagena longago.
JLD: Are you married? PAA: Yes, happily married JLD: How long have you been married? PAA: I’ve been married for 13 years old. JLD: How many children do you have? PAA: I have a son, his name is Juan David Arias Arenas,he’s 9 years old.

Why Struggle, (poem)
By Miguel A ngel Perez Martinez
You don’t have to do anything. On the contrary, I’ve got to do it. We have to thinkthat we live for nothing, or that we die for something.
There are people that prefer to do peace because they can’t do anything else. Thisisn’t everything: friends, family, love, sex, fame, fortune, money; this doesn’t make you
a better or worse person, there is something more than any of these, and there are alot of people who pretend to be changing their minds, not knowing that we’re
warriors. So, we are what we are, we can’t refuse where we come from. Maybe wecan’t win all the battles, but if we die we will do it with honor and glory.
I’d rather die, than living a whole life on my knees. I still don’t know what happenedbut everything turned out wrong. Nothing becomes true if you don’t believe what youare, and when you have doubts everything’s over. Sometimes we have to feel afraid,we are humans after all; when people forget your name, just a few will be by your
side. Pride and honor will always be with you.
Finally, everything’s collapsing in front of our eyes. We’re still hiding under ablanket of deceit. Every morning we forget the bloodshed we face, and we pretend to
have a worthy life, where our freedom has a prize, blinded by ignorance, main predator of our infertile minds. We’re dragging ourselves to a beginning with no end,
the world will still be turning and with it a life’s opportunity.
