CLASSIC TIMES
From our Director:: Lynda Christison….
Spring has finally arrived!! Time to trade your earmuffs and scarves for brimmed hats and sunscreen – so much nicer!
April is National Volunteer Month – a huge thank you to all of you who give so generously of your time and energy in so many ways!! Your help delivering meals, working at one of our Senior Centers, at our Aging Admin office, help-ing with special events – all of it is so very much appreciat-ed!!
Additional volunteers are needed to help deliver Meals on Wheels at Batesburg-Leesville, Lexington, Pelion, Swansea, and Tri-City Senior Centers. If you have an hour or two a week or a month to help bring smiles and meals to home-bound seniors, please call! Phone numbers are at the top of each center’s Classic Times page.
Lexington County 2015 Senior Games are the week of April 27 thru May 1! This year’s games are hosted jointly by LCRAC and Irmo-Chapin Recreation Commission. Registra-tions forms are available online at www.lcrac.com. Click on “Programs,” then “Special Events,” then “Senior Sports Games.” Many thanks to all our sponsors, volunteers and staff! Best of luck to all of the participants!!
Each May, the Administration for Community Living cele-brates Older Americans Month to recognize older Ameri-cans for their contributions to the nation. This year, in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Older Americans Act (OAA), the focus is on how older adults are taking charge of their health, getting engaged in their communities, and making a positive impact in the lives of others. The 2015 theme is Get into the Act. Check out all the different ac-tivities and ways that you can get involved and “get into the act” inside this edition of Classic Times and on our website, www.lcrac.com.
A special thank you to all the wonderful people who vol-unteered to plan, organize, and work on Christmas in Lex-ington County 2015. If you are handy with a hammer, paint brush, or rake and would like to help fix-up seniors’
homes on Saturday, April 18th, give us a call at 356-5111. It is an incredibly rewarding day for everyone involved. This project would not happen without volunteers and sponsors. You’ll go home knowing that you made a tre-mendous difference in someone’s life.
Have a great spring and Get in to the ACT!!
Best
Wishes…

Be sure to pencil in Shrimp, Shaggin’ and Suds
on your social calendar!!!
You will NOT want to miss this evening scheduled for March 30th at the Palmetto Collegiate Institute and nestled in the Leonard Price Garden. Enjoy a traditional Low Country Boil of shrimp, corn, sausage and potatoes catered by Diimmlers of Irmo with plenty of ice cold beer or wine to wash it down.
