    Example: Using (J & K) procedure, design a concrete block pavement for the urban road (drawing required). - 18 kip ESAL = 0.7 x 106 - CBR = 10 - R = 95 % - So = 0.35 - PSI = 2.0 - M2 , M3 = 1.0 Solution:

    1. Without sub base 18 kip ESAL = 0.7 x 106 Equivalent Thickness of Asphalt = 9.5 cm (Table 1) Block (Stone) Thickness = 8.0 cm (Table 1)

    SN = 2.6 (Figure 3) SN = a1 d1 + M2 a2 d2 2.6 = 0.42 x (9.5/ 2.54) +1.0 x 0.14 d2 d2 = 7.35 inch = 18.7 cm 20 cm

    Pavement Block (Stone) = 8.0 cm Sand course = 3.0 cm Crushed base course = 20 cm 1. With sub base 18 kip ESAL = 0.7 x 106 Equivalent Thickness of Asphalt = 9.5 cm (Table 1) Block (Stone) Thickness = 8.0 cm (Table 1)
