Hello, How are you doing?Today, we are going to start a new lesson on

Equivalent Fractions.


Equivalent FractionsEquivalent Fractions – Two or more different

Fractions that name the same amount.

Example – 1/3 = 2/6 = 3/9


Equivalent Fraction ModelTo find Equivalent Fraction of 1/2.Step 1: Start with the model of 1 Whole.

1/2 fraction is shown to represent half.

Whole Fraction

1/2 1/2


Step 2: Use 1/4 fraction pieces to equal the length of the 1/2 piece. Cut the number of 1/4 fraction pieces.

1/2 1/2

1/4 /4 1/4 1/4


Thus, equivalent fractions of 1/2

1/2 = 2/4Other Equivalent fractions of 1/2

1/2 = 2/4 = 3/6 = 4/8


Important Tips Equivalent fractions do not have same

denominator. Equivalent fractions do not have same

numerator. Equivalent fractions have the same value.
