I am a fourth year undergrad studying Landscape Architecture, with a minor in Construction Management. I came into college wanting to study Architecture, but fell in love with the design and creativity that Landscape Architecture offers. I have found my passions in Engineering, Planting design, and with my hand graphics.

Site Grading Forourfirstengineeringclasswe had to grade a residential site and provide area for the family to play and have a garden. For this project I had the existing road elevation, tofindtheFFEandgradetherestof the site with as equal as possible cutandfillratio.Thedesignhadto follow ADA standards, and the play and garden area needed to be no more than a two percent slope. All of the water was required to be drained away from the house and all hardscape, into a central location.
A model was also required to show a visual of the topography, retaining walls, play area, garden, and a shed. For the model I converted myAuto-CADfileintoIllustratortobe laser cut.

Engineering 3 Community Center
In Engineering 3, a class mate and I designed a Community Center and the construction documents. For the Community Center we had a set of guidelines and requirements for the construction documents.
My class mate produced the planting plan, erosion control, and half of the details. The Community Center was a comprehensive project, which had multiple stages. We placed the two story building on the side of the hill matching the two finishfloorelevations, anddesignedthe road with minimum disturbance to the existing grade.

Geometric Garden Plots For Geometric Garden Plot I began to look at how a scalene triangle has 30, 60, and 90 degree angles, with this idea I began to sketch out different forms that they could make. In the design process I decided to offset the central plaza slightly to the right side of the 120’ X 120’plot.Afterfiguringoutthe horizontal sight lines I designed the planters to have vertical differences for a sense of different plains. As the plant beds began to form around the hardscape I started to think about plant form that would best represent the geometric form . On all four sides I designed Little leaf Boxwoods to follow the sight lines of the garden and continue the form. For the planters I wanted to use grasses to carry a viewer’s eye sight from the hardscape and into the top planters.

U.S.S. Indianapolis Plaza For the U.S.S. Indianapolis plaza a fellow student and I had to move the Memorial Statue from the canal, designing a plaza next to American Legion Mall, on N. Meridian Street. As we began thinking about how to commemorate the veterans andtheirship, wefirstthought about raising the memorial above street level. Although, we wanted to represent the history of the ship, so we decided to lower the memorial into the ground by six feet. We only wanted visitors to enter through the west side of the plaza, with minor access from the north and south. My group member produced all of the Photoshop and chose all of the plants while I worked in auto-CAD and produced the model, for the project.

Nature Preserve
In my Nature Preserve project I chose to design a habitat for Spotted Turtles. In this project I had to use GIS tofindanareathatwouldbepristinefora natural habitat. All of the research was conducted in Porter County, Indiana. Once I selected a site for the habitat I had to design open wetlands that was away from major highways and residential areas. I had a total of 135 acres to design with, and the site had to be ADA compatible.

Photography In Photography class I have begun to learn how to use different Aperture, Shutter speed, and the ISO, to control how my photographs look. I have produced my own manual for my camera and begun to use Photoshop more to produce contrasting photos. . I have also learning about bracketing and how to capture the highest quality of pictures.
