We now provide comfortable living spaces to people in more than 100 countries.Energy-saving regulations and refrigerant regulations are expected to accelerate and grow more diverse worldwide as new means to attempt to prevent global warming within the global air conditioner market. 当社のエアコン事業は、1960年の国内向け民生用ウィンド型クーラーの発売に始まり、1971年には中東（クウェート）に進出。外気温50℃を超え、砂塵が舞う地域でも安定した性能を発揮する高品質エアコンとしてのブランドを確立してきました。以来、約半世紀に渡り、斬新な発想と最先端の技術力で耐環境性能に磨きを掛けるとともに、高い省エネ性能を実現する独自の機構設計、制御技術などにより、日本のみならず、ヨーロッパ、オセアニア、中東などで高いシェアを確立し、現在は米州、アジアなどにも積極的な拡販につとめています。また、空調機市場の拡大にともない、家庭用の小型エアコンから業務用エアコン、さらにビル用マルチエアコン（VRF）と、家庭用・業務用共にラインナップを拡充し、特に業務用空調機の商品力強化により、空調機事業の拡大・強化を進めています。世界各地の多様なニーズに応える品揃えの強化や、地球温暖化問題などの対応に役立つ要素技術の高度化に注力し、今後も省エネ製品の開発を積極的に進め、お客様に快適な住環境をご提供するとともに、地球環境への配慮にも責任を持って取り組みます。

● 研究開発体制川崎本社、富士通将軍（上海）有限公司、FUJITSU GENERAL ENGINEERING（タイ）の3か所に技術開発拠点を設置しています。各拠点では、さらなる先端技術の開発のため、高温地域、極寒地域の環境を模した試験環境での耐久試験や、最新の大型空調機用熱量計測室など、開発・試験設備へ積極的な投資を行っています。また本年4月には、空調機部門の組織を再編し、技術開発と商品開発を戦略的かつコンカレント（同時的）に推進することにより、独創的な商品を次々と生み出せるよう開発体制も一新しました。今後も研究・開発拠点の強化・整備を進めていきます。

Our air conditioner business began in 1960 with the launch of our first consumer-use window air conditioner in Japan. In 1971 we expanded into the Middle East (Kuwait). We quickly built a reputation as a high quality air conditioner brand that delivers stable performance even in sandstorm-prone regions with ambient temperatures exceeding 50°C. Over the half-century since then, we have successfully established high market shares in Japan, Europe, Oceania, and the Middle East, by continually applying innovative ideas and cutting-edge technology to improve the environment resistance of our products—all thanks to our unique structure designs and control technologies which deliver high energy saving performance. We are now striving to expand our sales in Americas and Asia.As the air conditioner market continues to grow, we will expand our lineup of home and commercial products—from small air conditioners for the home, to commercial air conditioners and multi air conditioning systems for buildings (VRF). We continue to expand and strengthen our air conditioner business by bringing our unique strengths in commercial air conditioner products to an even higher level.Going forward, we will focus on strengthening our lineup to meet the various needs of each region in the world and bring our element technology (which will play a role in responding to global warming) to the next level, continue to develop energy-saving products, provide our customers with comfortable living environments, and take a responsible role when it comes to concern for the environment.

● Research & development organizationWe have three technology development centers throughout the world: Kawasaki Head Office, Fujitsu General (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., and Fujitsu General Engineering (Thailand). At each center we run durability testing in test environments that simulate extremely hot and cold environments, in order to develop even more cutting-edge technologies. We also continue to invest actively in our development and testing facilities—such as calorimetric measurement rooms for measuring the latest large-capacity air conditioners. In April of this year we reorganized our Air Conditioner Division and completely renewed our development organization in order to continue to create innovative products by promoting the strategic and concurrent development of technologies and products. We will further strengthen and build research and development centers.

タイの業務用空調機の開発拠点「FUJITSU GENERAL ENGINEERING（THAILAND）CO., Ltd.」に技術棟を新設しました。技術棟は、200名以上の技術者が収容可能な規模で、最新の試験設備を導入するとともに、同棟自体を空調機製品の実証試験場として位置付けるなど、機能的な建屋設計としています。

We have completed building a brand new technology building at Fujitsu General Engineering (Thailand) Co., Ltd., our commercial air conditioner development center in Thailand. The technology building is large enough to support more than 200 engineers. In addition to installing the latest testing facilities, we are working on the functional design of the layout, as we consider it as a place to verify air conditioner products.

● 家庭用エアコン当社は、斬新な発想を最先端の技術力で、お客様の快適と省エネの両立したエアコンを開発しています。吹き出す風の気流をコントロールする「ダブル吹き出しフラップ（1985年搭載）」、ムダな運転をなくして省エネ性を向上する「人検知センサー（1988年搭載）」、省エネを維持したまま小型化を実現した「ラムダ型熱交換器（1991年搭載）」、「パワーディフューザー（1995年搭載）」、空気を効率よく吸い込む「前面フラットパネル（1999年搭載）」など、他のエアコンメーカーに先駆けた新たな機能を生み出してきました。2003年、業界で初めて家庭用エアコン「ノクリア」に搭載した「フィルター自動清掃機構」は、お客様の利便性を追求するとともに、高い省エネ性を持続する機能として高く評価され、高級機種は自動フィルターおそうじ付エアコンという潮流を築きました。

当社のルームエアコンを代表する「ノクリア～ nocria～」シリーズには、“aircon”を逆から綴り「エアコンの常識を覆すエアコン」という思いを込めています。業界初搭載となる「フィルター自動清掃機構」から始まり、2008年には業界最小サイズの「ノクリア」Sを発売、コンパクトエアコンの代名詞となりました。さらに現在販売中の「ノクリア」Xは、冷暖房の気流と室温の気流を制御する「DUAL BLASTER（デュアルブラスター）」機能を搭載し、ひかえ目な設定温度でも快適な冷暖房で、お部屋の隅々まで快適にします。「ノクリア」シリーズによって生み出された独自技術は、海外向けエアコンにも搭載し、大変好評をいただいています。

● 業務用エアコン当社では、業務用エアコンの拡大・強化を進めており、特に室外機1に対して複数の室内機を接続して使用するマルチエアコンは、室外機設置スペースが節約でき、景観に配慮が必要な欧州都市部の店舗やオフィスで多数導入されています。また、北米市場では厳しい省エネルギー規制の中、従来型の全館空調方式に対して、部屋ごとに細かく室温を制御する個別空調方式の省エネ性を活かして、中規模ビルや商業施設などに向けて普及促進の取り組みを拡大しています。2001年から発売したビル用マルチエアコン（VRF）「AIRSTAGE」シリーズも、欧州、豪州、米州、中国などの各地域のニーズに合った製品ラインナップの拡充により実績を上げています。きめ細かな省エネ対応、高い設計自由度、より快適な気流制御など、これからの業務用マルチエアコンに求められる多用なニーズに応え、高度な冷凍サイクル技術と快適制御システムを集積したビル用マルチエアコンの開発を今後も強化し、世界市場におけるシェアの拡大を目指します。

● Home air conditionersWe are leveraging our innovative ideas and cutting-edge technological strengths to develop air conditioners that provide comfort and save energy.We have led our competition by being the first to introduce innovative features such as the “Double-blow Flap” (1985) that controls the amount of air being blown, the “Human Sensor” (1988) that saves energy by eliminating unnecessary operation, the “Lambda Heat Exchanger” (1991) that is compact without sacrificing energy efficiency, the “Power Diffuser” (1995), and the “Front Flat Panel” (1999) that allows for more efficient air intake.In 2003, we were the first in the industry to set the trend for high-end air conditioners that include automatic filter cleaners, with our “nocria” brand of home air conditioners equipped with “Automatic Self-cleaning Filter System” (2003) technology, resulting from our pursuit of customer convenience and the high regard for the ability of our products to maintain a high level of energy saving performance.

Fujitsu General’s signature room air conditioner series is “nocria,” which is “aircon” (short for “air conditioner”) spelled backwards. As the name suggests, the series aims to defy conventional wisdom on air conditioners. After releasing the first air conditioner in the industry featuring the “Automatic Self-cleaning Filter System,” in 2008 we launched “nocria S.” As the smallest commercial air conditioner on the market, it has become synonymous with compact air conditioners. We have also already launched “nocria X,” which features the “DUAL BLASTER” feature that controls heating/cooling and room temperature currents. This provides customers with comfortable heating and cooling that reaches every corner of the room—even with a conservative setting. The unique technologies we have developed with the “nocria” series can even be found in the highly acclaimed air conditioners we sell overseas.

● Commercial air conditionersWe continue to expand and strengthen our lineup of commercial air conditioners. Our multi air conditioning systems can connect several indoor units to a single outdoor unit, allowing users to reduce the space required for the outdoor unit. These systems are particularly popular with shops and offices in urban areas in Europe, where consideration must be paid to the scenery. Among strict energy-saving regulations, we leverage the ability of our products to save energy through finely controlling the temperature of each room (in contrast with traditional products which cool the entire building), in an effort to promote adoption of these products in small-to-medium buildings and commercial facilities in the North American market. Since its launch in 2001, our “AIRSTAGE” series of multi air conditioning systems for buildings (VRF) has continued to gain popularity as we expand the lineup with products that suit the needs of each region, such as Europe, Australia, the Americas, and China. In order to meet the need for features such as excellent energy efficiency, exceptional design versatility, and more comfortable current control, we will continue to strengthen our development of multi air conditioning systems for buildings that integrate our advanced refrigerating cycle technology and comfort control systems, and attempt to expand our share in the world market.

欧州地域の2016年シーズン向けに、省エネトップ（注1）を実現した大型壁掛け、ビル用マルチをはじめ、天井カセット、ダクトを含めた業務用エアコン26機種のラインナップを強化しました。新商品は、省エネ性、快適性、据付性などを大幅に高め、利用者のみならず、設計・施工者の様々なニーズにも対応しています。今回の業務用エアコンのラインナップ強化により、同市場で事業拡大を図ります。

As we enter the 2016 season in European regions, we have strengthened our lineup of 26 models of commercial air conditioners that offer top energy efficiency (*1) , from large-capacity wall-mounted units and multi air conditioning system for buildings, to ceiling installation and duct units.Our new products offer significantly improved energy saving, comfort, and installation to meet the needs of not only users but designers and installers as well. We aim to further expand our business by actively promoting sales and expanding our service centers and training centers.● EuropeSince entering the European market in the 1970s, our strong sales network and high quality has allowed us to maintain a stable brand image. In addition to the small-capacity home air conditioners that have been our mainline business there, we continue efforts to expand sales of large-capacity commercial air conditioners.● The Middle EastIn the Middle East—where energy-saving regulations have recently been made stricter—we are acting fast to establish a lineup of products that abide by these regulations, attempting to launch commercial air conditioners and other products in regions undergoing urban development, and expanding sales.● AsiaWithin Asia we are currently focused on strengthening sales in India. We continue to develop a variety of models to provide comfortable living environments to customers all over the country—such as “nocria X,” our top of the line series of room air conditioners, and “nocria ZS,” which offers excellent energy saving performance with only 68.6 cm-wide body.“nocria X” offers the ultimate in comfort by controlling currents so that the room constantly stays within the ideal temperature range. This is made possible thanks to the hybrid currents generated by the “DUAL BLASTER” fans on either side of the indoor unit, and our new “3D Temperature Sensor” technology that accurately perceives the temperature around people (such as underfoot).These models satisfy a wide variety of user needs with a range of features that provide comfort and peace of mind, such as our “Smartphone Link Function” that allows users to control and check up on units from outside the house, and our “Safeguard Function” that automatically starts cooling the room when the temperature exceeds 31°C. These functions are included in every model, from high-end to low-end.Our Domestic Sales Division is in charge of selling these products and continues its efforts to provide even stronger sales assistance by offering close support to shops within our home electronics mass merchandise outlet route, through such means as holding events in which customers can experience firsthand the comfortable heating and cooling our products provide. ● Fire and disaster prevention systemsAs one way to help build fire and disaster prevention infrastructures, we provide fire prevention systems that protect people's lives and property as well as disaster prevention systems that keep people safe and secure—as total solution system services covering everything from planning, manufacturing, sales, and maintenance.During emergency dispatch, our fire prevention systems instantaneously give precise instructions and support firefighting activities, by providing comprehensive information assistance such as locating callers, searching for the shortest routes to fires, checking the formation and equipment of dispatch units, and confirming the status of on-site facilities.Our digital disaster prevention systems can display images and text in addition to broadcasting audio, allowing for more accurate information transmission. We continue to help build advanced disaster prevention systems in municipalities all over Japan.

● Distribution/video systemsWe provide customers with their ideal system—from planning and development, to installation and maintenance.We provide a wide variety of distribution systems, from back office systems that manage order placement, inventory, and attendance, to front systems such as POS and ordering systems.Our video systems provide a variety of solutions including patient guidance systems that link with digital charts to support the flow of patients to reception, medical examinations, bill settlement, and drug administration within a hospital's outpatient services, display panels, and terminals for calling people within the hospital.

We have a lineup in the solution business based on the main pillars of cameras, electronic components, and unit products. We have been highly rated in various manufacturing fields by providing solutions to the problems facing our customers such as technology, quality, and cost.We are developing products equipped with our unique image processing technology, and our vehicle-mounted cameras are therefore leading the world with their high performance and functionality. Our rear close traffic alert (RCTA) system is the first in the world where the camera itself is capable of object recognition processing. Its mobile object detection function analyzes video taken from an ultrawide angle rear camera to detect objects coming from both sides on the rear of a vehicle. Drivers are notified of danger with an alarm sound or a lit indicator on the monitor, allowing them to prevent accidents when parking or backing out. Our system has won wide acclaim as a preventative safety device.Our electronic components and unit products promote high efficiency through the development of energy saving products in power electronics as well as industrial equipment such as robot controllers and motor drive units, and contribute to ecology with efforts also made on approaches to environmental devices.
