Introduction Letter Dear Prospective Sponsor and Partner,
Greetings from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Student Branch at the
University of Georgia (UGA)! We truly want to say thank you for your desire to learn more about our
organization and the ways in which you can help us achieve our goals. It is through your gracious
support and generosity that students of UGA IEEE are able to gain great experience and strengthen their
knowledge beyond the general classroom setting. We want to extend our welcome and invite you and
your company to learn more about UGA IEEE through this Sponsor Proposal Package.
IEEE is the world’s largest professional association dedicated to advancing technological
innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity. IEEE currently has more than 425,000 members
in more than 160 countries. As a Student Branch, our goal is to uphold the organization’s mission of
fostering technological excellence and furthering the professional development of students. Our aim is
to provide opportunities for members to enhance their skills both academically and professionally. We
strive to be successful in aiding the development of outstanding engineers who will make positive
impacts throughout the world.
Although UGA IEEE was recently founded as an official IEEE Student Branch in November 2013,
we are striving high with ambitions to provide students with opportunities of professional development
and hands-on experiences. Throughout the school year we plan weekly meetings for our branch’s
general body, hardware team, and our website and finance committee boards. In addition, we schedule
special events with professionals and corporations as a way to build lasting networking relationships.
UGA IEEE also plans to attend the annual IEEE Region 3 SoutheastCon conference each school year.
UGA IEEE is highly dedicated to helping the academic and technical growth of students through
hands-on experiences. We work hard to offer several projects for students of all levels. Our current
project is called the DawgCopter Drone. Its objective is to build a quadcopter that can transport an
object from one location to new desired location. We also plan to offer students educational assistance
through technical workshops. These workshops can range from basic circuitry and soldering to 3D
printing and other advanced hardware and software topics. As a way to truly foster technical excellence
in the world, UGA IEEE participates in events that encourage younger students to become interested in
the engineering and technology fields.
With your support and generous donations, UGA IEEE will be able to continuously achieve its
mission of furthering the development of students academically and professionally. By supporting UGA
IEEE, you will not only assist young leading engineers, but will also receive advertising benefits for your
company, as well as gain networking relationships with our students. Thank you again for your time and
support. We cordially invite you to read our following Sponsor Proposal Package.

DawgCopter Drone
Our UGA IEEE Hardware Team
is currently working on a semester
project called the DawgCopter
Drone. The team will design and
build an unmanned aerial vehicle
(UAV) that can pick up and carry a
small object to a desired location.
The DawgCopter will be a quadrotor
based helicopter that can be lifted
and propelled using its four rotors. It
will be designed to be controlled
both autonomously and by a remote
controller, allowing the user to select either option.
Working on this project will allow our hardware team to gain great knowledge as
well as learning how to apply concepts taught in class for a practical purpose.

DawgCar
UGA IEEE is striving to fulfill its dedication of providing students with hands-on
experience to develop their knowledge and interest in technology and engineering. The
DawgCar project will be one of UGA IEEE’s capstone design project starting in Fall 2014.
It will allow students to apply concepts and knowledge gained from classes such as
electrical circuits, feedback and control systems, wireless sensor networks, and other
essential computer engineering courses as well as computer science. The objective is to
design and build an autonomous robotic race car that tracks lines and navigates a track
according to the colored lines.
Members of the UGA IEEE Branch will form into teams and compete against each
other to design a DawgCar that finishes the track in the shortest time possible. Overall,
UGA IEEE will be looking to extend this competition to other universities in Georgia and
the southeastern region to create an Annual Regional Competition. Former participating
members in UGA IEEE will be able to guide their fellow new incoming peers each year,
allowing them to improve their own knowledge while gaining leadership skills. With
your generous sponsoring, UGA IEEE will be able to make this vision into a reality!

students will gather together to promote and spread knowledge from all aspects of
technology and the electrical, electronics, and computer engineering disciplines. This
event offers numerous opportunities for attendees to participate in fostering
technology excellence, whether it is presenting research studies, participating in student
competitions, or by attending workshops and networking with others. From attending
this conference every year, UGA IEEE will be able to provide members with such
opportunities to enhance their passions for technology.
This year, UGA IEEE plans to participate in website competition and ethics
competition at SoutheastCon. This will allow our members to present the work they

NASA Space Apps Hackathon
NASA and other space agencies around the world are preparing for the Third
Annual International Space Apps Challenge. The Space Apps Challenge is a worldwide
hackathon that will take place over a 48 hour time period in cities across the seven
continents. This hackathon event will embrace collaborative problem solving for
participants to produce relevant open-source solutions for advancing space exploration
missions and improving our daily lives on Earth. The event will bring in talented, bright
minded people such as students, developers, engineers, technologists, and anyone with
a passion to impact the world. For more information, visit
http://spaceappschallenge.org/
In February 2014, UGA IEEE was approved to host one of the only Space Apps
2014 event locations in Georgia! Last year, there were only two locations in Georgia
hosting this international space apps challenge. In order to host a successful event, UGA
IEEE will need help with providing local awards for our attendees, snacks and
refreshments, and spare supplies for our venue. We would like to invite our sponsors to
be a part of our International Space Apps Challenge event by serving as judges and
volunteers. The event will take place April 12-13, 2014.

Annual Faculty & Student Picnic
As a way to preserve the family style
relationship between our UGA College of
Engineering faculty and students, as well as
other key faculty members, UGA IEEE plans for
an annual picnic at the end of spring semester.
The picnic will provide a setting where
everyone can socialize and network with one
another in an informal and relaxed
environment. The picnic will serve to help
students build mentoring relationships with
their professors and key faculty in their desired
disciplines. UGA IEEE encourages such essential
relationships among students and faculty for the benefits of enhancing students’
motivations and achievements.
We invite our main sponsors to join with us as a symbol of our strong
appreciation for their generosity in supporting our UGA IEEE Student Branch and our
goals.

Lab and Equipment
Currently, UGA IEEE is trying to work out a way to utilize classrooms (after class
hours), computer labs, and lounge areas within UGA Driftmier Engineering Center as our
work space. During the school year all of the classroom spaces are utilized throughout
the entire day, either for classes or special events, making it hard for our members to
work on hardware projects. Although we are allowed to use the school equipment from
labs within the Driftmier building, UGA IEEE desires to buy additional equipment that
will personally belong to the branch. In the near future, UGA IEEE hopes to secure an old
office space or room to set up as an official UGA IEEE lab.
General Meetings
The General Body Meetings are usually biweekly throughout each semester,
which average out to six or more per semester. During the general meetings, important
business of the branch is discussed and members are provided with information about
upcoming events and projects. The meetings allow all members to engage and share
their ideas, opinions, and suggestions in a relaxed family style setting. General meetings
are also used to host professional development talks and other informational sessions.
UGA IEEE encourages sponsors to come out and represent their company at our
meetings and events to build stronger relationships with our members.
T-shirts
For the school year, UGA IEEE will design t-shirts from the ideas and suggestions
of the branch. The t-shirts will help promote our UGA IEEE branch and goals. The unity
of the t-shirts amongst members will also help uphold the family feeling within our
branch. Our main sponsors will be able to receive promotions on our t-shirt designs.
General Expenses
Lab & Equipment (designing tools, computers, furniture, etc) $500.00-$1000.00
Meetings (Food & Advertising- $50/Meeting for 12-14 meetings) $600.00
T-shirts (Manufacturing 50 shirts) $500.00
Yearly Total $1,600.00
