V WEEK OF LENT

Dear friends, our Lenten journey little by little is leading us toward Holy Week and Easter. During this week, there are several important activities. First of all, from this weekend, we will keep the ancient practice of covering crosses and im-ages throughout the church. Crosses remain covered until the end of the Celebration of the Lord's Passion on Good Friday, but images remain covered until the beginning of the Easter Vigil.

Then,onMonday,March19,8:30amMass,wewillkeepthesolemnityofSaintJoseph,HusbandofMary.TheBiblepaysJosephthehighestcompliment:hewasa“just”man.Thequalitymeantalotmorethanfaithfulnessinpayingdebts.BysayingJosephwas“just,”theBiblemeansthathewasonewhowascompletelyopentoallthatGodwant-edtodoforhim.SaintJosephisthePatronSaintofcarpenters,fa-thers,happydeath,socialJustice,UniversalChurch,andworkers.

Finally, all parishes and members of the Diocese are invited to come celebrate the annual Chrism Mass on Thursday, March 22th at 6:30 pm. Join with us as Bishop Michael Barber, S.J., blesses the Oil of the Catechumens and the Oil of the Sick and consecrates the Sacred Chrism, all of which are taken back to the parishes for the celebration of the Sacraments.

V SEMANA DE CUARESMA Queridos amigos, nuestro viaje cuaresmal poco a poco nos lleva hacia la Semana Santa y la Pascua. Durante esta semana, hay varias actividades importantes. En primer lugar, a partir de este fin de semana, mantendremos la antigua práctica de cubrir cruces e imágenes en toda la iglesia. Las cruces permanecen cubiertas hasta el final de la Celebración de la Pasión del Señor el Viernes Santo, pero las imágenes permanecerán cubiertas hasta el comienzo de la Vigilia Pascual.

Luego, el lunes 19 de marzo 7:00pm, celebraremos la solemnidad de San José, el esposo de María. La Biblia le da a José el mayor cumplido: era un hombre "justo". La cualidad signi-fica mucho más que la fidelidad en el pago de las deudas. Al decir que José era "justo", la Biblia da a entender que él era uno que estaba completamente abierto a todo lo que Dios quería hacer por él. San José es el santo patrón de carpinteros, los papás, una buena muerte, la justicia social, la Iglesia Universal y los trabajadores.

Finalmente, se hace la invitación a todas las parroquias y miembros de la Diócesis a que participen de la Misa Crismal el jueves 22 de marzo a las 6:30 p.m. Únase a nosotros con el Obispo Michael Barber, S.J., que bendecirá el Óleo de los Catecúmenos, el Óleo de los En-fermos y consagra el Santo Crisma, los cuales son llevados a las parroquias para la celebra-ción de los Sacramentos.

EASTER LILY’S

It’s time to order your Easter Lilies! On Easter Sun-day, the church will be overflowing with the glories of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ. As is our tradition, we place Easter lilies around our altar. East-er lilies can be given in memory of a loved one, or to honor family and friends. All dedications will be printed in the bulletin on Easter Sunday. Donation is $8.00 per plant (one name per plant). Please pay with cash or check, payable to Corpus Christi Church. Or-ders due by March 25th (Palm Sunday).

LIRIO DE PASCUA

El Domingo de Pascua, la Iglesia estará llena de las glorias de la Resurrección de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo. Como es tradición, colocamos lirios de Pascua alrede-dor de nuestro altar. Los lirios se pueden dar en memo-ria de un ser querido, o para honrar a familiares y ami-gos. Todas las dedicatorias se imprimirán en el boletín del Domingo de Pascua. La donación es de $8 por plan-ta (un nombre por planta). Pague con efectivo, o cheque a nombre de Corpus Christi Parish. Los pedidos deben realizarse antes del 25 de Marzo (Domingo de Ramos).
