NECS is joined by the Lawrence High School Girls Ensemble to celebrate the birthday centennial of Leonard

Bernstein, who was born in Lawrence, MA. The world premier took place in Philharmonic Hall, New York in 1965

with the composer conducting. The Psalms are noted for the difficulty they pose for the performers.

Enjoy one of Bernstein’s masterpieces, Chichester Psalms, under the baton of Artistic Director David

Hodgkins on Sunday May 5, 2019 4PM at Corpus Christi Parish. A sampling of Rachmaninov’s most

beautiful choral works will be presented. Heinrich Christensen will be guest organist. This event will

honor Bernstein’s Centennial (in the city of his birth), NECS’ Golden Anniversary, & the 20th

collaboration between NECS & the Lawrence High School Girl’s Ensemble.

These concerts are made possible by generous support from Enterprise Bank, Massachusetts Cultural Council, the

cultural councils of Andover, North Andover, and Lawrence, and the Catherine McCarthy Memorial Trust Fund.

member of the pastoral staff to arrange the date. The instruction class, to which all parents and godparents are invited, is held in the rectory on the Sunday before the baptism at 3:00 PM.

Congratulations! We wish to congratulate all the young adults who received Confirmation this Saturday. We pray that they will now become active members of our parish and the Catholic Church. We also pray for all the children who will receive First Communion this Sunday, hoping that their parents will support them in their faith and bring them to Sunday Mass each week. Parish Fair We will have a preliminary meeting, preparing for the parish fair on Labor Day weekend. This is the largest fundraiser for the parish. All are welcome also to help with the previous Mondays 6-8pm to receive and sort donations. Some find it tiring but rather enjoyable. Terror Attacks If one doubts the existence of evil, just look at the attacks, primarily on Jews and Christians, men, women and children! The post 9-11 slogan, “If you see something, say something” to an usher or call 911, unfortunately this applies to houses of worship. If, God forbid, there should be an attack on us, exit if possible or hide under the benches. No need to be paranoid. God can conquer all evil!

Religious Education Announcements Confirmation

Our Confirmation candidates have completed their two-year preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation. They are being confirmed by our Regional Bishop, Most Rev. Robert F. Hennessey, this weekend, on Saturday, May 4th, at the 4:00 Mass. Please join in prayer for them as they express their commitment to the Catholic faith. We congratulate the following young people on this special day: Julia Auger, Geziah Colon, Kendra De Melo, Leah De Melo, Emely Guerrero, Adam Laflamme, Lucas Medeiros, Cameron Medina, Kaylee White, Jayna Perry.

First Communion Our First Communion students are celebrating their special day on Sunday, May 5th, at the 9:00 Mass. We pray for them and their families. The following students have completed their preparation and are eager to receive Our Lord in the Eucharist:

Classes All religious education classes have concluded for the school year. Thank you to all who participated. We wish everyone a safe and happy summer. Remember, the best way to grow as a family in faith is through regular Sunday Mass attendance and family prayer. We thank all the catechists who have helped the children to grow in knowledge and understanding of the faith. Their dedication has been an inspiration to all. We thank all who have served this year as catechists: Camille Camasso, Lucy Iacovella, Victoria Iacovella, Julissa Jerez, Carol Magoon, Aldonsa Pereyra, Anita Sapienza, Eleanor Thornhill, Susan Witham, Tom Witham, and Leonora Zappala Mambro.
