WELCOMEWelcome to Creswick Dance & Fitness – CDF.CDF offers high quality dance training with personal care, maintaining small class sizes to ensure each student receives a high level of individual attention.CDF teachers Paula Keays, Judy McGrath, Jess Whyte, Sam Griffin & Erin Beaston are highly qualified / experienced teachers, inspiring excellence among CDF students, whilst keeping a friendly, fun dance environment.

PARENTS COFFEE TIMENew students may have a parent accompany them for their first lesson.CDF Staff request that parents, family and friends of the students keep clear of the dance studio area at the neighbourhood centre during normal class times to reduce distractions to the students, therefore allowing the students to concentrate fully on their lesson.We invite parents to enjoy coffee (coin donation appreciated) in the CNC kitchen area during classes, and ask that parents with working with children check put there name down for the Town Hall Classes parent supervisor role during the term. (To supervise students during toilet visits)

DANCE ATTIREDuring Term 1 and 4 classical students may wear ballet socks instead of tights.CDF Tracksuit may be worn over dance attire until dancer is warm.Beginners* Well fitted shorts, tracksuits or leggings and t-shirts with bare feet are acceptable for beginners, until dance wear is purchased.Classical Ballet 1 (Primary) & Preschool* Pink leotard with pink ballet skirt and Ballet tights. DANCE BAG (CDF dance bags available $20)Students are required to bring their dance Bag to every lesson with dance Folder, practice sheets, drink bottle, (snacks for between classes only) & appropriate dance shoes. Parents need to check dance bags/folders for newsletters & home practice requirements.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Pre-school Dance, 3-5 y.o. ~ Children in these classes learn the main dance styles which are the basis for all dance- Classical Ballet, Jazz & Acrobatic dance. Students learn basic positions, correct posture and movements of Classical Ballet, develop Rhythm, co-ordination and expression of modern dance, and develop flexibility and strength in preparation for all dance styles, in an encouraging, fun environment whilst building confidence and self-esteem.

Classical Ballet ~ Classical Ballet forms the basis for virtually all other forms of dance. It offers the students a lifelong appreciation of the beauty of movement and music. Learning sound classical ballet technique is an enjoyable way for children to improve their fitness, flexibility, posture, co-ordination and confidence.

Hip Hop ~ An exciting combination of modern dance styles from Hip Hop, street, popping, locking & funk. Learning dance moves to your favourite upbeat music. Have heaps of fun, whilst improving co-ordination, flexibility, teamwork and improving overall fitness.

AcroJazz ~ Packed full of energy this fun & acrobatic style of dance is modern and upbeat whilst also embracing graceful lines, working on flexibility and using the imagination to create new and interesting choreography. This combination of Acrobatic dance, Gymnastics & Jazz Ballet includes stretching and strengthening activities for flexibility, agility and core stability needed for complex acrobatics.

Acrobats (boys only) ~ High energy, fun-filled acrobatic class just for boys, that incorporates activities to develop co-ordination, strength & flexibility with a wide range of fun games and acrobatic skill development exercises.

Musical theatre (including pre-school )~ Students will have the opportunity to explore a range of theatre areas including tap, singing, acting and general stage presence.

Adult Tap ~ exploring the art of tap dancing in a fun environment.

CLASS LEVEL SPECIFICATIONSPlease trust CDF teachers to place students in the most appropriate level for your child. Often a child’s age will differ from the approx. age for class levels on timetable. We have the kid’s best interests at heart, and have genuine reasons for our decisions.

Exam Classes ~ ADV – Australian Dance Vision in affiliation with Australian Dance Institute, a national provider of VET dance training & teaching qualifications offers an outstanding Syllabi which is more than just a dance programme, it incorporates body science, nutrition, and safe dance practices. ADV certificates are recognised dance training & teaching qualifications. Exams/Assessments are optional.

Eisteddfod StarsStudents are selected to participate in Eisteddfod Troupes. Please speak to teachers if you are interested in Competition classes.
