Wipro technologies was founded in 1980 and is headquartered inBengaluru.

It was founded by Mr. Azim Hasham Premji.

According to Karmayog CSR rating, Wipro scored a 3 out of 5.

Wipro and its employees are actively into CSR activities.

LEARNING ENHANCEMENT

Wipro Cares has initiated Learning Enhancement Programmes at schoolscatering to the children from the under privileged section of the society.

The main objectives of this programme is to improve the standards oflearning, build confidence, ignite curiosity, broaden their awareness levels,improve their communication skills in English.

These programmes have been successfully implemented in Olcott MemorialSchool in Besantnagar, Chennai and Government Secondary School inViveknagar, Bengaluru.

The Olcott Memorial School in Besantnagar

It is a 110 year old Tamil medium school being run by the theological society.

Wipro cares Cares volunteers work with the students of classes 4 and 5,for about two hours on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of every month.

Government Secondary School in Viveknagar, Bengaluru

Volunteers who are comfortable in communicating in telugu, tamil andKannada take up the responsibility of each class where they devote 2 hours

every Saturday.

MAKKALA JAGRITI- WIPRO CARES LEARNING CENTER

Makkala Jagriti is an NGO, whose focus is to work with underprivilegedchildren in the area of education joined hands with Wipro cares to develop alearning center.

It provides enriching, exciting, safe and secure environment to children fromunder privileged sections of the society

The Wiproites can get involved in it by interacting, involving, teaching &learning in mutually enriching way to reach quality-learning environment tothe economically disadvantaged children.

Supporting Girls to complete their education

Wipro Cares work through a NGO called ROCKFUND that encourages andenables girls to pursue their education till 10th standard by providing them

financial support.

HEALTH CARE

Wipro Cares launched Project Sanjeevani, its first rural healthcare project, onthe 6th of November 2009, in Aurangabad district.The project covers 9 villages, all situated in and around Wipros Walui factory.

AIM OF THE PROJECT

Provide quality primary health services by operating a Mobile Health Clinic

Strengthen the local Anganwadi institutions to improve the attendance of

children so as to ascertain and improve their health

Identify and treat malnutrition cases in the project area

Identify and register pregnant women and provide them with basic medicalservices

Create awareness regarding personal hygiene, diet and vaccination through

awareness programs and counseling sessions

create roosting and nesting sites for local and migrant birds anddevelop weed patches as feeding and breeding grounds for birds

Introduced common collection centers for used plastic in schools, apartments and

super-markets

Worked with specific audience in apartment blocks and residential lay-outs toinvolve them in their campaign

Worked with educational institutions through various clubs and active groups to

motivate students to reject the use of disposable products on campus and ensure

the collection and recycling of products used.

Infosys foundation promoted by Infosys Technologies Limited ,the foundation

offer promise of a better tommrow,through its project across india.

Infosys Foundation has made small ,but effective stride in the areas of:

Social rehabilitation

o The Foundation has organized unique annual melas in different parts of the

country, including Bangalore and Sedam in Karnataka, and Chennai in TamilNadu, to distribute sewing machines to destitute women and help them earn alivelihood

o Art and culture: Preserving our rich heritage and honoring our artisans aresome of the ways the Infosys Foundation contributes to this space.

The Foundation has helped revive the art of the weavers of Pochampallivillage in Andhra Pradesh helps organize cultural programs to promote artistsin rural areas of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh traces and honors artistesfrom different parts of India.

Recommendations for extra csr activities for wipro

Environmentally driven:

i) Combine CSR consulting service with lean/six sigma processand apply it to energy and water usages.

ii) Apply green sigma statistical tools and techniques like Green

House Gas policy to analyze and improve the process ofcarbon emission and water efficiencies.

iii) focusing more on energy conservation, recycling andresponsible waste management.

iv) Offers incentives to their employee to install solar panels intheir homes.

v) Display of posters, screensavers .vi) Internal magazines, portals etcvii) Green audits to check excess consumption of energy
