OBJECTIVES

• 1.Compare the similarities and the differences among people, including their beliefs, knowledge, changes, values, and tradition.

• 2. Explore the elements of society to develop an appreciation of and respect for the variety of human cultures.

Meaning of Tradition

• It is a belief or behavior passed down within a group or society with symbolic meaning or special significance with origins in the past.

                                                                  

    

Holiday celebrations may be passed down as traditions, as is the case with this distinctly Polish Christmas meal and decor.

Meaning of Culture It is a word for people's 'way of life', meaning the way groups do things. Different groups of people may have different cultures. A culture is passed on to the next generation by learning, whereas genetics are passed on by heredity. Culture is seen in people's writing, religion, music, clothes, cooking, and in what they do.

What about Panama?

The Carnivals The Carnival occur four days before Ash Wednesday. It is a traditional festival, especially in the Azuero Peninsula.

Homeland Month

The national holiday in Panama are conducted during the month of November in the capital city and in the countryside. These celebrations are varied and colorful activities that take place between them: the famous parade of marching bands, universities, civic groups and government institutions.

Mother’s Day

• This day is celebrated on

December 8 and It is so

important to the family. During

this day a Panamanian mother,

businesses and schools are

honored celebrate this day with

lunches and parties for all

mothers who work in the

facility.

Christmas and New Year in Panama

• The birth of Jesus is celebrated. We decorate our homes with lights and make a birth to honor the holy family.

• The Panamanian mixture religious tradition and superstition, buy incense to clear your home of bad energy and placed behind the door a bouquet of sour oranges, rice and wheat for all year round there at home prosperity, work and health .

Regional food of Panama

• In Panama, for breakfast, fried foods are common, including corn tortillas, yuca frita, beef and pork. For lunch, we usually consume meat accompanied by rice, beans and vegetables or soups. For dinner you can enjoy something a little lighter and faster, depending on each family.

Conclusion

• Panamanians are very traditional and in every town and in every family can observe these customs through their meals and celebrations. Panama for a range of different races, shows a very large and varied cultural heritage.
