PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Joined PARC/NARC as Scientific Officer on November 22, 1981, and was promoted to Senior Scientific Officer on December 23, 1993 and to Principal Scientific Officer on 26-11-2009. As a whole, have over 25 years of in-depth experience in reservoirs fisheries management and ecology, limnological studies of water bodies, disease diagnostics, fish culture of indigenous and exotic species, and measurement of biological productivity levels of various water bodies. Detail survey of Balochistan was also conducted to see the prospects of fish culture. Worked as Project In charge (PI) of ALP funded project titled, “Effect of pollution on fish and fisheries of rivers of Federal area, Punjab and NWFP and PI of RADP funded sub project, “Disease diagnosis studies in fish farms of Punjab province”. Worked as PI of RADP funded “Pilot project on Fish Processing and cold chain” and developed fish processing unit at NARC. Presently working as PI of two ALP and PSDP funded projects entitled, “Intensification of fish culture by using different managemental inputs” , and PSDP project, “Establishment of American channel catfish (Ictalurus punctatus) at NARC”. Also working as Program Leader of Aquaculture and Fisheries Program (AFP) & looking after the post of Director (Fisheries) at Animal Sciences Division, Pakistan Agricultural Research Council, Islamabad

Total 28 research papers are published in journal of national and international repute.

TEACHING:

Taught a 4 credit courses entitled” Limnology and fisheries at Department of Animal Sciences, Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad.

Teaching two courses “advances in aquaculture” and “Introduction to livestock production” at PIASA, NARC, Islamabad.

Teaching experiences by delivering lectures of Applied Fish Culture to B.Sc (Hons)-level classes in the Barani Agriculture University, Rawalpindi.

Also offered informal education to the fish farmers through electronic media programs on Pakistan Television (PTV), PTV2 and PTV 3 Sohni Dharty channel.

THESIS SUPERVISED

Supervised 4 M.Phil and six M.Sc. theses of AJK University, Muzzafarabad, Arid Agricultural University Rawalpindi and Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad pertaining to fish diseases, water quality and water pollution.

Supervised seven M.Sc. students of Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi in Research Report Writing.

CONFERENCES & WORKSHOP ATTENDED/PARTICIPATED:. Attended HKH International Workshop on Surface/River Water Quality jointly

organized by PCRWR, UNESCO/IHP and German IHP/OHP from May 21-26, 2001 in Islamabad –Pakistan.

Attended workshop on project planning, formulation and appraisal from December 6, 2004 to December 10, 2004 held at PARC Academy, Pakistan.

Attended more than 10 national conferences and presented papers. Attended workshop on fisheries policy held in Islamabad from 17-18 May 2006 Country paper entitled,” Brood Stock Management and dissemination of

NATIONAL/INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR/WORKSHOP ORGANIZED

A National Seminar on “Effect of pollution on water quality and aquatic life” was organized under Agriculture Linkage Program (ALP) project entitled, “Effect of civic pollution on fish and fisheries in the riverine System”.

Workshop on Brood-stock Management and Dissemination of Improved Fish Breed in the SAARC Countries Brood-stock Management and Dissemination of Improved Fish Breed in the SAARC Countries held at National Agricultural Research Center, Islamabad, Pakistan on March 13-14, 2012 was organized as coordinator of the workshop

TRAINING COURSE ORGANISED/CONDUCTED

Training courses on fish farming was organized by Aquaculture and Fisheries Program and Gender Development at Sanghar and Thatta, Sindh in 2009.

One month training was conducted for fish farmers at APO, NARC from 7th December 2010 to January 6th 2011.

Delivered training lectures as Mater Trainer on “Fish Handling, Transportation and Marketing” in a training course organized by GIZ/FDB at Bahaudin Zakriya University, Multan on 17th – 31st October, 2014 ( for 50 trainees) and at Punjab Fisheries Complex, Chashma, Mianwali on 22nd December 2014 – 5th January, 2015 (for 45 trainees) and Aquaculture and Fisheries Program, NARC.

VISITS ABROAD/FOREIGN TRAINING COURSE COMPLETED

Attended 11th Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) of Network of Aquaculture Centers in Asia-Pacific (NACA) Meeting in Bangkok Thailand from 5-7 March 2012.Selected as member of NACA TAC (Technical Advisory Committee) for three years (2012-2014).

Attended SAARC meeting of counterpart scientists on "Aquaculture" held at Katmandu (Nepal) from December 2-4, 1987

Completed 3-months advance course on stock assessment in managing tropical capture fisheries and tropical aquaculture with emphasis on carp and Tilapia culture at the prestigious International Center (ICLARM) Manila, Philippines from January to March 1985.
