Hello Tsunamis and Dinos! I would first off like to thank you for taking time to read this newsletter. I decided to take on publishing newsletters every other month to further cover information regarding events and better educate each and every one of you GOLDEN members. Don’t forget to read our other division newsletter made by our DNE Karissa Mills! For a link of her most recent newsletter, contact her, or go to this link: issuu.com/cloverdalekeyclubjulynews/doc/d2032_dnews_07_97de3831e7aaf3 After attending International Convention at Washington DC, I have gotten much more motivated to strengthen the division. I hope as time goes by, we can help achieve that goal together! International Con-vention next year will be at the happiest place on Earth! Do you know where? Anaheim of course! I hope that many of you will be able to attend this convention. While I am in the process of contacting clubs to help strengthen our division, I am also trying to establish some events for us to participate in. As many of you may know, my theme is people focused. I want for us to assist people in any way that would help benefit their lives and the community they live in. Fundraisers are also in process of happening, so be sure to check your e-mail and our Facebook group for the notice! School is/about to be in session for many of you, are you pre-pared? Now that August is here, Key Club will become busier than ever! Remember to get your friends to come and participate with all that we are going to do. I hope you all are excited for the upcoming events! Sincerely,

Service Opportunities Change the world There are service opportunities everywhere! The executive board and I have researched places to perform service in case any of you members feel as if you are too limited on where you are able to serve your community. Typically, a Key Club member should complete 50 hours of com-munity service each year. Does that seem like a lot? If you stay consistent with performing at least two hours a week, you will be done in about six months! Another way to stay consistent with community service is also to just participate in Key Club events! Not only does the division have event for all schools to take on, but your home club as well! Make sure to attend ALL meetings and find out the latest events for you to attend!

Training Conferences

Officer Training Conference (OTC) OTC is where the LTG of one’s division holds a conference to further train all officers on what they wish to accom-

plish. We Key Clubbers collaborate with Kiwanis to carry out the mission of serving children of the world. We learn

leadership skills by running meetings, planning projects, and hold leadership positions on what they wish to take

on. This Training conference helps the officers get a bigger and better understanding of their responsibilities that

one will take on as being part of Key Club International.

Region Training Conference (RTC) This conference is normally held after an OTC. What is the difference between these two you might ask? Well RTC

does cover the tasks of one’s position, but also gives a better idea of what Key Club is really about. This confer-

ence goes above and beyond what OTC covers to enhance and open up minds of members as well as officers

for what truly goes on in Key Club. Other than becoming more active and advocating Key Club, RTC also

teaches members to branch out more towards Kiwanis Clubs to work together as a team in making enormous

differences to the community. This event is also not just one day, but an overnight trip with people outside one’s

division. It’s a chance to mingle, get educated and take on the duty of how to BEEcome a GOLDEN member.

CNH Key Club|D20/32|LTG Edition|Page 5

Candidate Training Conference (CTC) This conference is aimed toward Key Club members who are interested in being a candidate or a potential

candidate for an officer position above their home club. This is not a mandatory conference, and is also aimed

for the underclassmen who are essentially not seniors.

Did you know…..

There are 7 CTC’s around Cali-Nev-Ha :

Rancho Cucamonga, Hawaii, Las Vegas, Mission Viejo, Vista, Sunnyvale, Sacramento Area

Monthly Submissions Members: The most important duty of a Key club member, is to build your home, school and community. This being said, for after every service event that is per-formed, BEE sure to contact your secretary for him/her to record it on his/her MRF. The importance of this is to show how much each club as an individual can truly change the commu-nity, especially working together with the other clubs to see how big of a difference the division has ac-complished. How great a club is, reflects on member participation is occurring upon the members, how active of a member he/she is. If the service experience was truly inspiring or enjoy-able, share your experience! Write an article sharing who, what, when, where and why. After doing so, send it to our DNE Karissa Mills to have it pub-lished on the district or division newsletter! ALWAYS REMEMBER TO TAKE PHOTOS OF PRODUCTIVITY WHEN VOLUNTEERING

Presidents and Vice Presidents: As a President/VP, you are the people who take on the responsibility of the club overall by understand-ing all officers’ tasks, and to assisting them when help is needed. You monitor and makes sure every-thing is up and running well. You are the leaders who people rely on in order to take the next steps into improving the club. More info: http://www.cnhkeyclub.org/officers/president-and-vice

Secretary: The secretary position truly holds an important role regarding the MRF. BEE sure to be proactive, and update the MRF when a member(s) has contacted you about any service project that has been completed. When recording service projects, remember to specify the kind of service project it was. The following categories are to help educate those who may not have a full understanding of the types of service projects members may be completing... Project Benefits Club - This means that what you are doing, will help the club with raising money or memberships and so on. Ongoing Project - A project that you are doing more than one month. Division Project - This is pretty much a service project that the division does as a whole, for example, the Food Bank. District Project - Our district is CNH, California Nevada Hawaii, and we fo-cus on PTP (Pediatric Trauma Program) which focuses on raising money for children’s. Anything related to helping the cause, such as donating money, will be counted as a district project. Governor Project/focus - This would be the District Governor, Victoria Lai’s project. Her project is the Eliminate Project. We’re implementing it by raising the goal of having one member save 3 lives, which is raising $5.40 per person. Projects w/ other organizations - If you are doing a project with another or-ganization, such as a supermarket, you would mark this. If a service project has at least two other Key Clubs participating, it is also considered eligible to be marked. Major Emphasis focus - Major emphasis is anything related with children, and impacts them, because "Major Emphasis: Children: Their Future, Our Focus." Project w/ Kiwanis sponsor - A project which a Club participated in with the help. Joint: Project hosted w/ Kiwanis - An event that a Kiwanis club has collabo-rated with your home club. Project w/ Kiwanis Family member - Kiwanians normally have projects they make to advocate their club, or just help out the community, like we do. Often, usually your Kiwanis club, will ask your school for some help, or invite your club to their event. This would be marked if a member(s) helped with it.

When submitting:

- send to [email protected] and cc to [email protected] - Subject title: SchoolName MRF - MRF file name: SchoolName_1314_month ex. Piner_1314_08

Treasurer: When having anything to do with money, the treasurer is the one who is responsible with reimbursements, submit-ting the club budget, and money into the account are just a few of the main tasks the treasurer must take on. They are also in charge of a fundraising calendar and member-ship recruitment as well as paying the dues ON TIME. A monthly report as well as ideas to help raise money would be helpful to remind all club members where the club stands as of that month. More info: http://www.cnhkeyclub.org/officers/treasurer

Editors: An editor is in charge of overall advocating of the club. Writing articles, taking visuals, designing post-ers, fliers, and so on are some of what editors should do. By the 15th of every month, every club has the responsibility in submitting an article summary about what the club has done over the past month to the Division DNE, Karissa Mills.
